In May of this year, I was introduced to the owner of this establishment, a Mr. [redacted] A[redacted]. The introduction was by way of a mutual friend with whom I have long been acquainted. Being a business owner/operator myself (for over twenty years), I know what it means to have a good reputation, not only for the work that one does, but for the way people are treated. Honesty and integrity in conducting one's affairs can often make the difference between getting and keeping a client's business or not, regardless of expertise. I've always felt that what is good for the client IS good for me as a businessman and I believe in treating people as I would like to be treated... apparently, Mr. A[redacted] doesn't espouse the same credo, or certainly doesn't practice it.

As I had been introduced as a computer consultant, [redacted] proceeded to ask me about his computer that he wanted to have replaced with a "good used" system (on the cheap). I told him I had some 'refurbed' systems and spoke of one in particular that would fit the bill. (Certainly cheaper than the custom-builds I do.) He asked how much. We agreed on the price, delivered with the additions necessary to meet with his needs and preferences; including Mozilla FireFox (his preference) and a good anti-virus program due to the primary use being online banking. While I was at it, I spent (valuable consulting) time taking a look at his system concerning his main complaint that it was "slow". After a cursory inspection of the hardware we were dealing with (to establish what would be expected based on its construction), I got down to particulars of what software was running, and in this case especially, what wasn't running - no current, active anti-virus program. I downloaded a "clean-up" AV program, installed, and ran it. We also talked about the 'fragmentation' on his hard-drive that would be an issue as far as performance.

We set an appointment to meet on Monday, May 30th at noon. (Yes, it was Memorial Day, but businessmen often don't know what that means.) As scheduled, I appeared at the appointed place and time with a working (and tested) computer in hand, backed-up and ready to roll. I had spent over five hours of time getting it configured as needed. It had a clean installation of Windows, a customized dual-boot configuration for the use of 'techie' tools and dual disks for backup/recovery in event of corruption/failure - definitely a 'cut-above' even on the cheap. The software required included a top-of-the-line anti-virus product that I had paid for "out of my own pocket".

Well, [redacted] was ‘out sick’ that day, so I left my card with phone number so he could give me a call. While there, I inspected the results of the AV scan done on his current system and (not unexpectedly) found that it was (had been) 'infested' with malware, or PUP (potentially unwanted programs) as it is euphemistically called these days. I also took a look at his video security (that used computer-type hardware) for the potential of accessing it remotely.

We spoke subsequently, by my calling him to reschedule the appointment he missed... not only that week, but in subsequent weeks, as he was "going to let me know" when it was convenient for him. To make a long story short, that day never came and as of today when I stopped by to see him in person due to the gross delay in delivery, it became clear that the man is not "good for his word" and planned to renege on the deal.

I don't normally write reviews, but this one is well deserved. It pays to know who you do business with and all I can say is ‘my bad’. Because of the introduction by a man I know and respect, I thought that I could take [redacted]'s word as a gentleman. Obviously, I was mistaken.

Although I didn't see this man for jewelry work, from the looks of some of the reviews, his work seems to be a real "crap-shoot". As to the man's integrity, I can vouch for that... he doesn't have any.

Review: My boyfriend & I purchased an engagement ring from [redacted] on 8/16/14, including their protection plan. The ring was a size 7 and needed to be sized down to a 4-1/2. The sales associate referred me to Gold Touch as that is where the send "all of their work, and it does not interfere with the protection plan". The sales lady, [redacted], from [redacted] took me across the way in the mall to Gold Touch and asked the jeweler if the ring could be successfully sized that small, he said yes, but that it would have to be done the next day. The next day I returned to have it sized, and have another ring cleaned & examined. After reading great reviews about the business I trusted them with my rings. The jeweler said it would be about an hour, and it was done in that time frame. It was a size 5, per his "expert sizing" he said I needed a 5 rather than a 4-1/2 because of the wider sized band. Ok, I trusted him & it was too big & the gold was crooked & mangled. I asked him to fix it right hten & he did. Told me to come back in another hour. I returned & the ring fit "better" but not right. It had turned a black-ish color and looked like tarnished silver. The ring was crooked & mangled. I returned to [redacted] with the ring & the said they would take it to a private jeweler on [redacted], a guy named "[redacted]", but would not give me a business name. In the mean time I posted the following review on [redacted] for Gold Touch. I was very honest in my review. The details of my interaction with this business are in the review, please see below.

1.0 star rating 8/18/2014

Yesterday I took my beautiful 2 carat engagement ring to this place after being referred to them by [redacted]. Service was great! They sized my size 7 ring to a size 5, which the jeweler said was no problem and would not damage the rings integrity. I was so pleased with the promise and positive reviews that I also left them my heirloom VVS1 colorless diamond ring to check prongs, clean and polish. My engage my ring came out horrible. I had them redo it...the jeweler was pleasant and redid it without question. I got it back an hour later....and it looked "ok"...very rigid and the gold turned dark and was scratched and rippled. After closer examination once I hot home I noticed that one of the diamonds has been compromised and my setting was damaged. I returned to [redacted] after work to show them. They are having it fixed for me by another jeweler, after offering to order me another ring altogether. They apologized for the sloppy workmanship and said they will address it as they send a ton of business to this place. The wonderful lady there suggested I go back and talk to the jeweler who messed up my ring.....the lady at the counter is RUDE!!! The first thing she did was laugh at me and tell me they don't give refunds. Crazy lady, I didn't ask for a refund. I was letting you know you screwed up my ring!!!! I was expecting empathy and an apology and possibly a guarantee of workmanship. Nope. I had my heirloom piece examined, and I honest believe that they stole one of my diamonds and swapped it for another less quality one. One prong doesn't match the others......and there is another review posted claiming that this place had shady practices in the past with theft of diamonds. I will go to the Revdex.com next, and file a formal complaint.

The business responded with a private message to me, which is below:

My family has been in business for over 30 years and we've had over a 100,000 customers with very few complaints. They're both very hard-working and honest people. Calling my mother crazy and accusing us publically of stealing your diamond is illegal and worthy of a lawsuit.

We will give you 24 hours to remove your review.

By the way....We're glad that you're happy with your ring now.... because we're the ones who [redacted] sent it back to to fix.

My complaint is 2 parts, one to [redacted] and the other to Gold Touch. I will file another one to [redacted] as well.Desired Settlement: First, I would like an apology for being treated disrespectfully by the mother. Second I would like an apology for the owner attempting to bully me via [redacted]. I also want a full refund for services provided in the amount of $65.58 as BOTH of my rings were not done to satisfaction.
