Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2016/06/29) */
First, let me say that this customer is right. She is receiving terrible service. The terrible service she is receiving, however, is from United Van Lines and not directly from Golden Eagle Moving Services. Accordingly, her complaint...

is more properly directed to United Van Lines.
Golden Eagle Moving Services is an agent for United Van Lines, the largest moving company in the country. Ms. [redacted]'s move comes at the busiest time of the year for moving companies and that is the root of the problem. Frankly, United Van Lines is currently over-booked and does not have enough drivers or other resources to handle all of the orders that have been booked.
Golden Eagle Moving Services booked the move of Ms. [redacted]. Our local personnel picked up her belongings on the agreed to load date and brought her belongings to our warehouse awaiting assignment to a cross-country driver. Unfortunately Ms. [redacted]'s belongings are still in our warehouse because no cross-country driver has been assigned.
Golden Eagle Moving Services has a variety of cross-country drivers. Unfortunately, however, none of them are currently positioned geographically to handle the move of Ms. [redacted].
Golden Eagle Moving Services has been in daily contact with the Operations Department of United Van Lines corporate office trying to secure a driver or other resource to get Ms. [redacted]'s belongings to destination as quickly as possible. Unfortunately those efforts have so far not been successful.
One small silver lining in this otherwise very bad situation - Ms. [redacted] is entitled to delay payments of $100 per day for every day her belongings are late beyond the last day of the agreed to delivery window. Due to the extreme nature of this situation it is possible that United Van Lines Customer Service Department will provide additional compensation of Ms. [redacted] requests it.

The move that the customer is referring to was done under the operating authority of United Van Lines - not Golden Eagle...

Moving Services.
As the booking and origin agent Golden Eagle Moving Services provided an estimate, booked the move and performed the packing of items into cartons. The estimate was binding and the customer was sent a refund of over $600 because the actual weight was less than estimated.
Golden Eagle Moving Services did not disassemble furniture or move the belongings of the customer. These services were performed by another agent of United Van Lines. I make this point because any claim for damages or improper reassembly must be made to United Van Lines on a United Van Lines claim form. The claim can be filed with Golden Eagle Moving Services or with the corporate office of United Van Lines. The customer was provided with a claim form but to date has not returned it completed to either Golden Eagle Moving Services or United Van Lines corporate office. If and when such a claim form is received, the claim will be evaluated and processed in a timely manner.
United Van Lines offers a variety of value added packages to customers. These packages provide specific additional services and are sold to the customer, i.e. they are not free. The salesperson for this move (Mike Brunet), due to a high volume of sales was given the opportunity to provide one of these packages at no charge to a customer. The package he was supposed to provide was a minimal upgrade that would ordinarily cost the customer an additional $195. This package had nothing to do with the installation of electronics.
[redacted] misunderstood what he was supposed to offer and instead offered a much more comprehensive package that included the wall mounting of two flat screen televisions and PC and network setup. This package would ordinarily cost the customer an additional $1195.
[redacted] should not have offered this package but because he did Golden Eagle Moving Services agreed to pay for the wall mounting of two flat screen televisions and the connection and network setup of the home computers. When [redacted] made the offer he specifically told the customer that the services were limited and that they did not include providing any brackets, cables or other hardware, mounting of components not located directly under the televisions or running cable through walls or ceilings.
We did not choose a local installation firm as the customer alleges. The firm was chosen by the customer. The customer sent us an invoice in the amount of $2305 and expected full reimbursement. Evaluation of this invoice and discussion with the installation firm made it obvious that services were provided and charged that were beyond the scope of the package Mike Brunet agreed to. We agreed to reimburse the customer a total of $1343, certainly more than one-half of the invoice. The letter to the customer with the check enclosed makes no reference to paying "half the bill" or that they "should be more than lucky to get that". I, of course, can produce the letter. I had no other communication with the customer so I can state absolutely that I said nothing about them being lucky to get what we sent.
In Summary: Any claim for damages must be made on a United Van Lines claim form and filed with either Golden Eagle Moving Services or United Van Lines directly. To date no claim form has been filed. Our employee mistakenly made a promise that he should not have made. Nevertheless we stood behind that promise and agreed to pay over $1300 for the services he promised. We declined to pay for additional services that he did not promise. We believe the amount we agreed to pay is fair and reasonable.
Further, it should seem obvious to anyone that neither United Van Lines nor any other national moving company would agree to pay $2300 for additional services on a move that cost less than $16,000.
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 7, 2015/08/20) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
First, [redacted] is an agent of the company that I contracted..... Golden Eagle. He used his sales pitch to offer something the owner acknowledges should not have. He is absolutely incorrect in that he sought out this person and told us about the company to use. He states that he can provide the letter. An exact quote from the CFO, " Even with this I think the charges you have submitted to us are far beyond the scope of what was intended by [redacted] offer. It is not reasonable to think that a moving company would voluntarily pay $2304 or even $1342 on a less than $16,000 move...." We had a telephone meeting where the sales agent admitted to telling this homeowner that the full connection of two wall mounted tvs and all games and stereo equipment would be installed as part of there high volume movers award. The owner admits that he shouldn't have offered something that he didn't understand and misstated the allowances. As a contract signer, that sales agent got me to sign their contract in lieu of the computers, routers, printers, two wall mounted televisions, AV, and stereos with no preclusions to get the signature. Now that it "is far beyond the scope" and "not reasonable to think that a moving company would voluntarily pay $2304" is unacceptable and a bait and switch. It is clearly admitted by the owner that his agent shouldn't have made an offer that he didn't understand. The fact of the matter is that it got me to sign the contract and now they are not living up to their bargain....right, wrong, fair, or indifferent.
As far as the allocation and what was covered. To date, this owner has been unable to find the wiring for the televisions, AV, and most of the video games. Most everything is unpacked and they were not with any of the equipment that was boxed. How long should this customer have to wait to watch television and get their life back to normal. I don't know what they did with the cables. The company they recommended for us to call is who we used. We asked for a separate bill for the cut in of the speakers, because that was not reasonable and felt we should cover that cost as the"right thing to do." The Agent of Golden Eagle did share that they didn't run in wall cables, however said that they would set up all of the stereo equipment, connect speakers and gaming after mounting the customer provided televisions and brackets. I paid extra for the in wall wiring and cutting in of speakers. I can provide the additional receipt to show that we paid our fair share. The CFO self proclaimed, "EDUCATED GUESSWORK" cut $1,000 from what they felt was fair based on their profit margin. That is bad business and why I have contacted the Revdex.com. These guys are a farse and unethical.
Because the agent of Golden Eagle misunderstood a gift and gadget to get us to sign over a competitor, why should I have to pay now? BAIT AND SWITCH! THE OWNER CLEARLY ADMITS HIS AGENT MISINTERPRETED AND OFFERED SOMETHING HE WAS NOT FAMILIAR WITH AND NOW THE CUSTOMER MUST PAY. AS you can see, the owner and agents came and sold the whole job and have done a good job of justifying how it is someone else's problem.
Final Consumer Response /* (4200, 11, 2015/08/24) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
They do not intend to go back and forth because it further assists in sharing the truth. They have provided no resolution or the remainder of the compensation.
Revdex.com, Please contact with any other questions. The service provider of the tv hookups may be contacted or we can show both receipts for the service. Please let us know the next steps to insure that the Bait and switch tactics of this business are recorded.
Final Business Response /* (4000, 13, 2015/08/25) */
We have previously responded to these issues but I will attempt to summarize again:
There are two separate issues being raised. One issue is the reimbursement for electronic installation. The other issue is for damage on the move.
As regards to the first issue, our position is that we have more than compensated the customer for the electronic installation we agreed to do. What we agreed to specifically excludes the cost of wiring and other parts and running cables through walls. The invoice includes these services and we do not intend to pay this part of the invoice the customer submitted.
As regards the second issue, this is a claims issue with United Van Lines. In order to proceed with this, the customer must fill out a claim form. We have already provided a claim form and will be happy to provide one again if requested. To date, however, no completed claim form has been received. We cannot proceed with a damage claim unless we first receive a completed claim form. Once a completed form is received, the claim will be handled by United Van Lines corporate office Claims Department.
We do not intend to keep addressing the same issues over and over again. We believe we have made our position clear.
