As the owner of Valley Coin, I don’t directly deal with eBay auctions, so I checked with my employees to find out what happened.  We accepted the watch in question on consignment for the express purpose of selling it on eBay.  Before we shipped the watch, it was found to be in...

damaged condition.  Since it was not as described, we realized we could not ship it out, so we contacted the consignor, who elected to take the watch back.  I never owned the watch, and therefore I cannot offer it to him at a discounted price.I do not deal in watches, so I do not have any inventory with which I can send a replacement.  Furthermore, used items like this are one-of-a –kind, so finding a replacement is not a viable solution.   Mr. [redacted] received a prompt refund, so there was no intention defrauding him.  As to his claim that the watch was worth $250 to $350, I would respond by noting that it brought $133.50 in an internationally recognized auction venue, so on the day he bought it, the watch was worth $133.50.  I think we did what any honorable business would do in this situation.  We regret that this transaction did not conclude more amicably.
