Food came out wrong, they offered to take it off check and took my food back. After disposing of my food I didn't eat, they still charged me I ordered dinner with my family, I was over charged on a wrong item and they told me the waitress would pay for it and would be reprimanded for something she didn't do, so I paid for it so this poor waitress didn't lose her job. My meal was horrible and dried out, I took one bite and retuned that and they promised to refund my money, then came out again and said they called the owners and was instructed to only charge me half of the meal I didn't eat.. I was completely taken advantage of by this company. I wrote on the credit card receipt the original, that I was disputing this bill. We also saw food dropped on the ground and put back to be served. Very bad business practices Desired SettlementI would like my entire bill refunded and I will never return to this establishment. I live around the corner from this place and will be telling everyone in town about this. Business Response My name is [redacted] on duty Wednesday, [redacted] 2015. The waitress came to me with the customer complaint about the Seafood Newburg dish stating that it was dry. I took [redacted] off the bill and just charged him for his soup & salad bar that he ate prior to his meal. They were not happy with me taking off the [redacted] and wanted to have the entire meal taken off the bill. I called my boss and asked her what to do and she also said just to charge soup & salad bar because that is all he ate. He states in his complaint that he took one bite and was promised a refund. That is incorrect, when I went to their table and apologized for their being unhappy, and explained that I was just charging him for the salad that he ate, his wife stated that she works as a server and that he should not be charged. I apologized once again, and explained that they were the house rules. His wife then, asked why they were charged for a small pizza when all she ordered was a r personal size pizza. 1 asked her what was brought to the table and she proceeded to show me that she did indeed get a small pizza. I asked the server about it, and she stated that she remembered them ordering a personal size pizza and she put in a small by mistake. The server said she would pay the difference for her mistake. In his complaint he states that they paid for it so she did not lose her job. She was not at any time in. jeopardy of losing her job. We have the original receipt and it clearly shows that [redacted] was taken off the bill because of his meal. The subtotal of his bill was originally [redacted] x [redacted] sales tax would have brought the bill to $103.M. The bill was brought down to 90.01 after the [redacted] was removed, then the waitress paid the difference of what the personal size pizza would have been bringing the bill down to [redacted]He did leave the server a [redacted] cash tip on the table and as they were leaving he told the server that [redacted] was hiring and that she ought to go where management appreciates their staff. As they were leaving the establishment, I apologized once again for their unhappiness and he said that the owners here are awful and they would not be back and would make sure that they said how awful this establishment was all over social media. They wrote on the credit card slip that they were going to dispute the charges on their slip end that the order was wrong and food was not eaten. The pizza was wrong, yes, but they only paid for a 7" personal pizza and received a small. Once again, the server paid for the difference of her mistake. As far as food being dropped on the floor and served to another table, is false. They were one of our last customers of the night and were the only ones in the dining room when they left.If you have any other questions, I can be reached at X-XXX-XXX,0167 [redacted] and [redacted] nights after [redacted]My name is [redacted] I have been employed at the Golden Greek Restaurant and Pub for some time now, and I was working the night of the incident in question, to which I am now writing you. was the server who happend to be waiting on the gentlemen making the allegations of mismanagement and mistreatment at this establishment. The incident began when I served the gentlemen his order, which was one of our most popular dishes, a Seafood Newburg. As is common practice I checked back shortly after serving the table and asked "Is everything ok" to which he replied "Everything is fine". I could tell things were not fine as I had noticed him poking at his dish moving the contents around yet not eating. I knew he had eaten soup and salad and thought maybe he was full and would be taking the meal home. Then he began to eat a slice of his daughter's pizza. I took this opportunity to stop back by the table and ask if everything was to their liking. This is when he told me he thought his entree was overdone and dry, and he was not going to eat it. I thought his reply was odd, as there were three Seafood Newburgs served about the same time, yet none came back with complaints. I offered to take the dish back to the kitchen and have a fresh dish prepared. He replied" No I'm all set." I then told him I would bring the issue to the attention of the manager on duty to see if the problem could be resolved in a different manner. After speaking with the manager I returned to the table and informed him the price of the meal would be taken of his bill, he would only be charged for the soup and salad which he had eaten. on our menu soup and salad is "included" with some entrees, but it can also be purchased as a stand alone item. This is our policy, not a one time decision, this is the standard course of action for this situation as I have observed on more than one occasion in the course of my employment,At this time the man became visibly upset I explained that this was common practice, and he became what can only be described as combative. He loudly proclaimed that he is the local fire chief and he goes out a lot and he would never pay for soup and salad if he returns a meal. Furthermore, he would never pay such a price for a mere soup and salad! He went on to Inform me "If this place ever catches fire, make sure I'm late getting here, you'll be lucky if It doesn't burn down)" He went on to tell me how he lived locally, and he would be sure to tell everyone not to eat at the Golden Greek,After this incident I proceeded to give him the bill, and upon recieving the check he quickly began to comb over the charges carefully. After reviewing the charges he noticed I had mistakenly ordered the wrong site pizza for the young lady at the table. She had requested a 7" personal pizza, yet typed In a small size pizza. I did not at the time of serving notice this mistake, nor did the customer notice. If they had noticed they made no complaint or attempt to make me aware of this mishap. I quickly took responsiblity for my actions and told him I would be paying the difference out of pocket When the customer found out I was to pay the up charge, they changed their story, I assume to keep me from getting any trouble. After paying the difference out of my pocket and correcting the check, I was given his credit card to pay the remainder. He along with his family brought the check up to me personally, and they included a ** dollar cash tip. He told me I was a great server and this had nothing to do with me. He explained that I need to work for a company that appreciates their customers and employees more, and that the [redacted] is hiring, I should go there. And then he told me he would be disputing the credit card bill, and will say they did not eat any of the food. He told me how he has done this before and he always gets his money reimbursed! I have been in the service industry for more then a decade, and I have worked in both chain and locally owned establishments alike. And while I appreciate the gratuity and gracious compliments, I feel the gentlemen in question went above and beyond reasonable recourse. There is little reason in my mind for this matter to have gone beyond what was offered as consolation for the meal. Thank you for taking the time to hear my side of this event, if you need any questions answered that you feel I may be of help with, please feel free to contact me through my employer.Sincerely, [redacted]Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)This place is a bunch of con artists. Everyone in town knows about this place and their staff. I most certainly never claimed to be a fire chief or that I would treat this establishment any different then any other place if there was a fire! I volunteer my time to the community to help others, asking for nothing in return. There actually was a call to this establishment before where the fire department showed up and the "manager" came out screaming for us to get the *#% off their property. This place is a joke and I don't want anything from them. It today's customer service world, this place will fail on its own. I'm not going to give them the satisfaction of going back and forth with this. Let them fail it's a shady establishment and shouldn't be in our community treating people like that.
