After renting property through G.K.R. I have been over drafted for 1 month's rent and never received my security deposit back.I had rented a house through Golden Key Rentals since March 2013. Upon termination of the rental property 30 September 2014, I was told I would receive my security deposit (of $525) via mail, which never came. On 3 October I was notified by my bank I was drafted for another month's rent of $525. The explanation I received was they do not control the billing website but however failed to mention that fact to me until after I was billed for another month. We have been e-mailing back and forth for the past month to try and resolve this but I have still not received any of my $1050. The last contact I had with Ms. [redacted] was Monday, 3 October 2014, was asking for my bank information to direct deposit the deposit and overdrafted money back into my account.Desired SettlementI would like all $1050 of my security deposit/over drafted rent direct deposited into my bank account.Final Consumer Response /[redacted]/After emailing G.K.R. informing them I have filed a formal complaint with the B.B.B. Included in the email I told them I would close this complaint if they would simply direct deposit the money and explain to me why I haven't been paid yet. They replied with a bad attitude stating I was 'threatening' them. They informed me my check was now in the mail, even though they stated in an earlier email, 3 November 2014, that, "It was sent by mail Check #[redacted]for $962.50 dated 10/20/14 (within the 30 days as required by law) for $962.50!!!"Which when I received the check 19 November 2014, it was post marked 15 November 2014. G.K.R. had lied to me. G.K.R. had written the check 20 October 2014 but did not send it until then.I have received my money but am still upset I have been lied to. Case closed.

Property Management termination final inspection and security deposit. Golden Key Rentals was our property management company for our home in Goldsboro, NC from Aug 2010 through Dec 2013. Our desire was to sell the home and [redacted] was a property manager as well as a realtor. In Mar 2012 the tenants expressed a desire to buy so we went gave our price. In May I inquired and heard nothing. Finally in Nov we went into an agreement to have [redacted] be a dual agent with us and our tenants. As of Jan 2013 still no headway. We decided to go with another Realtor to sell the house Jul 2013 much to the chagrin of [redacted]. We have had bad experiences with property managers who are also realtors so elected for them to be separate. It was an old house and needed some renovation, however the tenants would not let us paint the inside or ** any other repairs. They elected to move out in Oct but only gave us 21 days. 30 days is required to have the security deposit reimbursed. They sent an email asking if it was alright if they moved prior to the 30 days, which I must have said was OK and that gave permission to give back the security deposit. We terminated the rental agreement in Oct 2013. At that point we were not living in NC so were unable to walk through the home in order to inspect it for any damages done by the tenants. There were a couple of damages to the Sheetrock, lawn and banister that we were told about and were taken care of. Fast forward to Sep 2014. [redacted] is acting on behalf of buyers who did end up purchasing the house. In the home inspections there were several items that were in need of fixing. Some were based on wear and tear but the following were present at the time Golden Key, whom [redacted] is the property manager for and were not caught by them. Kitchen light was cracked, replacement cost $160, bonus and laundry room doors top roller and adjustments, $70, the upstairs bathroom drain stops were missing and water was gushing from the bath/shower diverter cost $168.70, closet hanging clothes bars were missing, These items should have been caught by Golden Keys and fixed at the time of rental termination. Also the security deposit should not have been refunded without our express consent.Desired Settlement$398.70 plus the security deposit from termination of the tenants prior to the 30 day mark. Also to get the word out of what happens with dual property managers and realtors specifically [redacted] of Golden Key Rentals in Goldsboro, NC.Business Response /[redacted]/First of all, Mr. [redacted] filed this complaint without ever letting me know that he was dissatisfied in any way. If he had just contacted me first, I am very confident that we could easily have resolved this issue in a mutually agreeable way.As of 10/17/2014 I have made several attempts by phone and email to contact Mr. [redacted] in order to resolve this but he has only responded with one email which I didn't fully understand. I replied asking for clarification but he has not responded.First, Mr. [redacted] complained that we allowed the tenants to stop paying on their lease prior to the 30 day mark. In a lease, tenants are required to give a 30 day notice prior to vacating the property once the lease period has expired but in this case the tenants weren't the ones who give notice, [redacted] the owners of the house, gave the tenants notice that they were terminating the lease and that the tenants would have to move out of the house because the [redacted] wanted to sell it. In our discussions with Mr. and Mrs. [redacted], they wanted the tenants out of the house as soon as possible so that they could sell the house. Yes the tenants did move out of the house in the middle of a month but at the time, the [redacted] did not indicate in any way that they were unhappy about this. They just wanted the tenants to move out.Regarding the other items that Mr. [redacted] said that our company should have charged the tenants for when they moved out, yes it is possible that we missed something and if we did then I am willing to make compensation and I have already indicated that to Mr. [redacted] in several emails to which he has not responded. HOWEVER, I would like to address the items individually. The malfunctioning tub spout/diverter ($168.70) would not have been a valid tenant charge. It showed no signs of external damage, the internal mechanism just wasn't functioning properly. We could not legitimately have taken the cost to repair this out of the tenant's security deposit. This was simply an owner maintenance issue.Regarding the other items, after the tenants moved out of the house, the [redacted] had a lot of work done to the house including replacing the carpet and having the house painted. Both carpet installers and painters almost always take down interior doors while they are working because it makes their jobs so much easier so the problems with the doors almost certainly resulted from that. It is also entirely possible that the painters hit the kitchen light with a ladder while they were working in the house but we can't know for sure. Finally, we weren't the only ones who inspected the house for damage after the tenants moved out. I know the other realtor they hired to sell the house looked at it and they also had a friend or someone else who they knew look at the house. If there was any other existing damage when the tenants moved out then we weren't the only ones who missed it.Lastly, of the tenant's security deposit, all but $187.10 was given to the [redacted] anyway so even if we had known of any additional damage, the most additional money we could have given to the Kennedys was the $187.10. I have provided a copy of the final financial statement for the property showing this to Mr. [redacted] and he did acknowledge receiving and understanding it.In summary, it's highly questionable whether or not our company missed any tenant related damage when the tenants vacated the property and even if any additional damage had been discovered, the most additional money we could have given the [redacted]'s is $187.10. Again, I have made several offers to the [redacted] to which they have not responded.Prior to receiving this complaint I was actually feeling pretty good about being the one to get the house sold for them which was their ultimate goal.

This company failed has failed a family as a property management company. Get you in the house then try to handle the fallout from a dump.Advertised with a finished basement. Shown in pics on website as a finished basement. Even when we looked at it the basement was carpeted and somewhat clean. We rent the home with the plan of my father and my son to occupy the basement. Pay (of course) and show up with the 1st load of our stuff to find the basement walls ground down and tar over a leak pouring in and the carpets all gone. No heat in the master bedroom. Mice jumping out of the cupboards. This is a week into our rental agreement and we are still freezing to death with our 2 year old and praying that mice don't get in our food in the pantry. Been in NC for 7 years and until last week when we rented this place I have nothing but wonderful things to say. As for this company, I wouldn't ever use them for anything. They are clearly about the dollar and only the dollar. I hope they are sleeping well tonight in their warm homes as we are huddling our kids and eachother to keep from freezing....after begging them to get an electrician for a Week now. Garbage company.Desired SettlementWe need to see the house fixed immediately. We need the rent to be prorated for the horrible situation and living conditions that our 1150 a month home has put us in.
