Review: I sent a fully prime black bear hide as well as 2 other bear hides that were taken early in the season to golden state tannery.Upon return of my hides the fully prime hide had been shaved to thin in many places and had lost a lot of hair because of over shaving.The other 2 hides that were not near as prime were shaved by some one that new what they were doing and were fine.When I contacted golden state about the problem they told me that I did not know how to salt a hide and that is why the hair fell out and refused to do any thing for me.A few days later I was informed that a box with 110 muskrats in it were mistakenly sent to golden state by the UPS store.There was no golden state paper work in the box and no tanning instructions on the box,the shipping label as well as the papers inside the box were to a wild fur action house in wisconson.Any one that can read english and has half a brain could tell the package was sent there by mistake.But rather than contacting me to make sure it was supposed to be there they just went ahead and tanned the trapper dried muskrats there buy destroying any chance of selling them on the wild fur market.They should have sold for around $12.00 each but because of golden states incompetince now they have destroyed my hides as well as trying to charge me $15.00 each for tanning 110 muskrats.They have stolen my hides,ruined them and now refuse to return them.On top of destroying a irreplaceable bear hide.I was told that they did not need my pitiful amount of business because they have hundreds of thousands of customers.And now they will not respond to any attempt I make to try and resolve the issues.They are thieves and should be closed down and put in jail or deported.If you value your customers hides as well as you own DO NOT EVER SEND ANY THING TO GOLDEN STATE TANNERY!!!!They will destroy your hides and do nothing to compensate you for there negligence.I have been a taxidermist for 20 years and used many tannery's golden state is by far the worst I have seen!Desired Settlement: I would like the tanning charge for the bear they ruined refunded as well as my 110 muskrat hides returned like they should have been to begin with.And I am not paying them for ruining my muskrat hides by tanning them,they were not authorized nor did they have any right to tan my muskrat hides without the correct paper work and tanning instructions.As far as I am concerned they stole my hides and should be arrested.

[redacted] didn't sold his bear properly so one of his bear lost hair and he was trying to blame us for his poor salting tactics and he spoke to our warehouse Supervisor and Vice President of the company, [redacted] and [redacted] explained it was not our fault or our chemicals that made his bear skin lose hair other wise all the bear that were in the same batch and solution, along with his other bear would have lost hair as well bur he continued to call and harass and so we had an additional order for him that we tanned, Inv. # NNr 6-4 which contained 110 Muskrats and we discounted the 168.00 for the bear that Mr. [redacted] claimed we damaged. So there is no reason for Mr. Mackintosh to complain, he missed up, he didn't prepare his skin well, yet we gave him the $168.00 credit on his last order. There is no reason for him to say anything when we went out of our way to listen and please him. He got the bear, that lost hair, the credit and orders.

I am rejecting this response because:They are lying. The bear hide was salted correctly but they shaved the hide to thin in a bunch of spots thereby causing the hair to fall out in the thin spots. If you have someone that dose not know what they are doing shave a hide and they cut all of the hair roots off there is no way for the hair to stay on the hide. I informed them of there incompetence and tried to send them pictures proving what I am saying is true but the email address they gave me was not a working address. When I called back to get a different address they told me that they no longer wanted my business. They new they messed up the hide,probably training someone from the looks of it because who ever shaved that hide had no idea what they were doing. Then to make matters worse the UPS store sent them 110 muskrats by mistake. And instead of sending them back like they should have they tanned them. The rats had a NAFA shipping label on the outside of the box as well as all the correct NAFA paper work inside the box there were no tanning instructions on the outside of the box and there was no golden state paper work in the box. The only thing that said golden state was the UPS label that was put there by mistake by the UPS store. Any it that could read english should have been able to tell that the box was shipped there by mistake. It was a crime to tan the muskrats without the proper instructions or paper work inside the box. It is fraud. Now they are trying to charge me $2,848.00 for tanning the muskrats without permission. That is $25.89 per muskrat,if I were going to have muskrats tanned I would have shipped them to [redacted] in montana they charge $4.50 per hide if you send 100 or more and they do a good job on all there hides. I am sure these it's really messed up the hides,if they can't shave a bear hide what do you think they did to muskrat hides? The 110 muskrats should have sold for $12.00 ea at the NAFA auction so all in all these incompetent it"s have cost me over $4,168.00 us dollars. Just because I had they nerve to complain to them about letting some incompetent employee shave and there by ruin a once in a life time trophy of my customer.So I will say again and I hope it comes up every time someone dose a search on golden state tannery NEVER EVER TAKE ANY THING TO GOLDEN STATE TANNERY!!!!!!
