Golden Gate Apartments

This is a complaint against apartment management. Our oficial move out date was on October 31, 2017, we had just come to the end of our 1 year lease. The property manager told us that our security deposit of $250 would be refunded to us within 30 days. After the 30 day we started calling the office to remind them of our deposit, they never provided our deposit or a receipt for it. We decided to go to the property to deman our deposit. The manager was not in the office so we decided to wait for her. In the meantime we talked to the maintenance man who said that he inspected our unit and that “it was good to go”. We walked around the property and observed that someone already was living in our old apartment (apt 50). We finally were able to talk to the manger, she lied to us and told us that the unit had not been inspected yet. She said that we would get our deposit within a week. We made sure she had our new address and we left. A week passed and she has still not mailed our deposit or any type of proof that it had been spent on property repairs. She will avoid our phone calls and when confronted she will say that “she doesn’t mail deposits”. We want at least our full deposit back. Texas law states that the landlord has 30 days to return deposits.Thank you for your time in reviewing our case. -
