Mr. [redacted] pawned a 55" [redacted] TV (2160p 4k flat screen). His TV was due on 7/15/2015 he called and asked if we would hold it for a payment to be paid. We always explain that we will mark the account but in no way does that guarantee that the item will not be pulled. In this case...
we held the item the extra day so that he could pick his TV up. This in no way released him from paying the next interest amount that was added when the original payment wasn't made. Pawns are a 30 day loan with an interest payment that is due. I tried to explain this to Mr. [redacted] when he phoned. The original ticket was brought in to us which allows us to release the merchandise to whomever holds the ticket. However, the item was late which technically make the item the property of the pawn shop. So the ticket being supplied isn't relevant. I couldn't get Mr. [redacted] to understand that he owed the payment because it was due. I offered for him to return the TV for a full refund of the amount loaned plus the interest he paid. This again was not satisfactory to him. I did not say or imply that I didn't care "what he thought about my business or his feelings". It is quite unfortunate that he feels that we are thieves. We in no way wanted to steal his TV. We had every right to pull the TV on the morning he came in to make the payment and sell it. We were nice enough to hold the TV until he was able to come in to make the payment. The computer system we have is the same as several other shops in the area and it calculates the due dates of the payments based on the day the item is pawned not us.
