Gold's Gym & Aerobic Center -Winchester VA

Awful Experience. Customer beware before signing a membership with this company. My membership with Gold's gym was scheduled to end at the end of April 2016 (actually 4 May 2106). On 4 Apr 2016, Gold's gym charged my credit card, for what I thought was my last membership payment. When I called to find out what I needed to do to make sure my membership was not automatically renewed next month in May, I was told that I had to come in and sign a cancellation form but I would still be charged an additional month in May although I was giving them 30-days notice. When I spoke to the General Manager, John C[redacted], he was extremely rude and could not give me a legitimate reason as to why I would be charged an additional month after I cancelled my membership. He said it was in their contract. (It must have been in the very small print because I was not aware of it and the person who signed me up didn't inform me of that). Why would you pay for a month you are not using the gym?) The point in cancelling 30 days in advance is to make sure you don't get charged an extra month!! What they should tell people is that they have to cancel 60 days in advance, not 30 days in advance. I think they do this to get that extra $19.99. I had an overall terrible experience dealing with the Mr. C[redacted]. Gold's gym has shady billing practices. If you do decide to sign a membership with this company (at least the one in Winchester, VA off of Berryville Ave.), do a month-by-month, not a year membership. Do not give them your bank or credit card information if you can avoid it. I will never join another Gold's gym after this horrible experience. I would not recommend this particular location to anyone.

Review: Over 30 days ago I contacted [redacted] acct# [redacted] and demanded proof that I am their customer. I asked for proof of the alleged debt, including specifically the alleged contract or other instrument bearing my signature. So far they have not been able to provide such proof to me. I have followed-up with phone calls to the original creditor [redacted] at Gold’s Gym and she said my 2 year contract started in July 18, 2005 ended in July 31, 2007. I asked her to send me proof of this and she said she could not. She said she would have to get with her headquarters, but yet and still she was looking at my account in a computer. I asked could she print and fax it to me? She has not done this as of yet. Gold Gym moved my account to [redacted] services in 2010, three years after my contract ended. I was living in [redacted] Pennsylvania in 2010 and New Jersey from 2008-2010. I cancelled this when my contract ended and I cancelled this membership in 2007. Golds Gym and [redacted] services have violated my rights under the FCRA.Desired Settlement: This is not a debt from 2010 and I need it removed from my credit. This was also paid in full in 2007.
