Review: After completing my contract, I filled out a membership cancellation request form. I was asked for "last month's fee," but didn't think I should have to pay it since I had just been auto-billed for the following month, which hadn't started yet. The guy at the desk said he would check with his Assistant Manager and call me if there was a problem. They then billed an additional $85 (two months' fees), and when I went in to ask for help with this the Manager refused to credit them. While she admitted that my cancellation form was still sitting on her Assistant Manager's desk, she said that my cancellation was invalid because I hadn't paid the additional $42. She refused to credit even the second fee because I didn't have written proof of the cancellation request despite the fact that she had this proof on her Assistant Manager's desk. I went home and wrote an appeal letter to the Franchise Owner and e-mailed it to the gym, asking them to forward it to the Owner, but I never heard back. Either the Owner didn't care or the Manager refused to forward it; I suspect the latter.Desired Settlement: Minimally, I would like to have one month's fee credited, since even by their own policies I should not have been charged this fee. Ideally I would like to have both month's fees credited since I requested cancellation in March and had already paid for April at the time of cancellation.

Review: I signed up for Gold's Gym membership and paid for the entire year in August 2014 at the rate of $40 per month.

After September, I had to go out due to health reasons and I froze my membership for three months of Oct, Nov and Dec 2014.

On January 2, 2015, I went back to the gym to find the following facts:

1. They are advertising a monthly price of $19.65 if you do not take classes there

2. They have changed the class schedule and reduced the number of classes, especially Yoga - the only one I used to go to sometimes.

I asked them if they could transfer my membership type from $40 to basic $19.65 and give me a credit on the pro-rated amount for the remainder of the month because I should not have to pay double the price for the same use as they offer for $19.65 as I will not be doing any classes there.

They flatly refused to do so. This is incredibly wrong. They will force me to discontinue my membership for which they will charge me a penalty to end the contract. Then if I choose to stay with them and sign up for the $19.65 plan they will charge me additional one time $99 for registration.

I would like to just be transferred in to the $19.65 plan and be given a credit for the remaining amount on a pro-rated basis for the rest of the year through Aug 2015.

I hope Revdex.com can help me and stop this scam they are running. If not, please advise me where I can take my complaint to get treated fairly.

Thank you.Desired Settlement: Transfer my membership type from $40 per month to basic $19.65 per month from Jan to Aug 2015 and give me credit back to my card for the prorated difference.

Review: I cancelled my gym membership on 7/26/2015. Yet, they keep charging my credit card every month.Desired Settlement: They refund me the money they've charged me since my cancellation.

Review: Back in August of 2015, I changed by credit card on file for monthly dues. The business continued to try and bill my credit card on file (that did not exist anymore). They were double billing and I was paying my dues as well. I received numerous collection letters regarding a membership number that did not even exist. I had to repeatedly talk to the sales person and then the Manager, [redacted] She was rude and said that I used my key fab that was cancelled. Finally the matter got straightened out regarding the double billing.

Of course after that I told the salesperson, [redacted] on the spot that, I wanted to cancel my membership. By the way, they had finally changed my dues to 19.99 a month after paying $48 dollars for a lenghthly time (all the signs on the highway advertised 19.99) and they continued to rip off their members. I was told that this monthly fee of $19.99 was a month to month and could be cancelled at any time. That is what I did and spoke to [redacted] in person. I have not been to that location since August and again am getting threatening collection letters. I've called the manager, [redacted] several times and have not had a response. The dues they say I owe are 188.00.

I tried to get the name of owner, Gold's gym would not return my calls and give me that information.

Please help me so that an error by Gold's gym does not affect my credit report. It was very sneaky of them to double bill, because they do not know what they are doing. Also proven that they do not know what they are doing because they have tried to bill me since August when I have severed by membership.

Thank you so much in helping provide a timely resolution.Desired Settlement: I would like the gym to adjust my owed dues to $0.00, ensure that this will not happen again and be sure they note that I am not a member with them since August 2015. Also, would like to make sure there is a correction to credit reporting/agency and have any collection issues cease to exist.

Review: I have had a membership wit Gold's Gym, located 761 Route 33W, Hightstown, NJ. I called [redacted], Gold's Gym to terminate my membership, about 1.5 months ago. I thought everything was ok, and my membership was cancelled. Then, I start getting phone calls from a company, [redacted], telephone # [redacted] I called the number for [redacted] spoke to a customer service representative, and informed her that my credit card was compromised with the [redacted] scandal and the credit card was cancelled, I also informed the representative that I terminated my membership earlier.. I explained that I called Gold's gym weeks earlier to terminate membership, and the customer representative, informed me that there is nothing that could be done from [redacted]. I called Gold's Gym today, spoke to [redacted] and explained the story to her, and a previous person prior to her. [redacted] informed me that I could not terminate my membership and I would be charged. I am getting charged late fees, membership fees, getting harassed by [redacted] and am unable to terminate my membership. Something is wrong, where membership to a gym can not be terminated. I also told [redacted] to stop calling me, and the calls have not stopped. I have been a member of this gym for more than 3 years, and this is the way they treat their customers, I do not want any parts of any membership with this gym.Desired Settlement: I want termination of my membership from Gold's Gym, which I was informed I could not get termination from [redacted] I do not want to pay late fees, since I contacted

Gold's Gym more than 1.5 months ago, and I do not want to pay for membership fees for April and March of 2014.

Response:

As per my manager, [redacted] and the salesperson who signed [redacted] up to the gym originally, this is our side of the story. [redacted] wanted to cancel her gym membership. As per the contract [redacted] signed, [redacted] is required to give a 30 days notice in writing. [redacted] refused to pay her past due amount, which is now two months in arrears. She also refused to follow our cancellation policy which is spelled out [redacted]'s contract that she signed. As of today, we have not received [redacted]'s cancellation letter.

Response:

Here is our contract that she signed. Hope this helps
