Gold's Gym - Jonestown Reviews (1)

Review: On 3/18/15 I joined Golds Gym. At this time as a part of my joining I was offered a complimentary workout session with a personal trainer. After completing my workout session with the trainer, I was afforded the opportunity to sign up for personal trainer services which I did. It was explained to me that the training period would be for three months and that my bank account would be charged($220 bi-weekly) for these services. At the end of the three month period if I wanted to continue using trainer services I would have to sign another contract at that time. After reading several customer reviews about Golds Gym continuing to charge clients for services that were no longer desired I took it upon myself to double check the terms of my contract to ensure that I would not be charged beyond the last draft date. I was personally told by by Golds team member Marcus J[redacted] that my contract was in fact the type of contract that ended at the end of my three months rather than an open ended contract and that my last draft date was on 6/26/15. Two weeks later on 7/10/15 Golds Gym charged my account $220 for personal trainer services even though my contract had ended. I called the gym and they referred me to the corporate office. so I called the office and was informed that the gym staff in fact signed me up with an open ended contract and that I wanted to terminate this contract I had to do so in writing and it would take 30 days. So I asked if that meant my account was going to be charged two more times and I was told that it would. At this time I called my bank and canceled my card. after that I went to the gym and was informed that when I signed up the person who did my contract did it incorrectly and that it was a mistake on their part and they would handle it. I was still afforded the opportunity to use the gym so long as I continued to pay my gym membership dues of roughly $30 a month which I did. On 8/11/15 I went to the gym and was told that I was no longer allowed in.Desired Settlement: I have heard nothing from the Gym staff I have been denied access to the gym and have been sent a collection bill from the gym for services I never signed up for. I do not wish to be a member of this gym due to their poor customer service and horrible business practices the only thing I would like is a billing adjustment. I cannot see paying for something I did not sign up for or use. This bill has reflected on my credit report. It is not fair to me that I am paying the price for their mistake

August 28, 2015Complaint Case #: [redacted]Consumer: [redacted]To Whom It May Concern,I am in receipt of Mr. [redacted] Revdex.com complaint. In researching his account, Mr. [redacted] did manually sign a PT EFT Agreement agreeing to the terms and conditions of his agreement. The PT Agreement continued on a month to month basis after his initial term ended and he was required to give a 30 day notice per the terms of his membership agreement to cancel his PT EFT Membership. We did not receive a cancellation notice from Mr. [redacted] and therefore his PT EFT Agreement continued on a month to month membership.I have cancelled his PT EFT Agreement. However, due to the 30 day notice that Mr. [redacted] is required to give per his membership agreement, he does owe the past due balance of $455.99. This balance consists of this Personal Training dues for July 24, 2015 & August 7, 2015 dues for $220 each bi-weekly billing cycle and his membership dues of $15.99 for August 21, 2015 bi-weekly billing cycle.Until this balance is paid, Mr. [redacted] may not access the gym as he has a past due balance on his account. He may not cancel his membership at this time as he signed a 12 month agreement and he is in obligation until February 18, 2106. I have set his membership to cancel at that time. I also attached a copy of his membership for your review.Thank you for giving me the opportunity to respond to her online complaint.Sincerely,Kristen B[redacted]Director, Service OperationsEnc.
