Golf Course Lawns Reviews (4)

Golf Course Lawns did a good job on our lawn so we hired them to do some landscaping on our property this year. We had a french drain installed, trees removed & mulch beds put in to better the curb appeal. Everything looks good, very happy with the service.

Review: The lawn has not been able to fully develop due to improper grading, rocks and debris not being removed correctly, water does not drain correctly in several areas after rain, lawn has never been smoothed out, lawn edging was not fully installed, edging that was installed is not straight and is coming apart at the joints.

Also there were several places in our concrete walk and driveway were the skid loader took out chunks of the concreteDesired Settlement: A refund for the lawn install ($3,812), edging not installed ($275), tax($208)

At this time I do not feel the work or integrity of Golf Course Lawns would be appropriate due to the past results. During the install of the steps I had to make several complaints to [redacted] that they were not level, after several complaints did [redacted] have them corrected. In the late spring early summer I did make several attempts to have Golf Course Lawns come out and look at the lawn, the first couple of calls were only responded to that someone will contact us. Once we received a call back I was informed that the problem was that I did not buy the 2013 lawns service package and that is why I have all the weeds and no grass. I asked [redacted] and agreed with him that I would be willing to work with Golf Course Lawns to fix the problem and asked if he would come out and take a look at it and let us know what needed to be done to correct it. Since that call I have not seen or received any call backs from Golf Course Lawns.

Response:

In response to case id # [redacted]

I apologize for the delayed response, it has been a very busy few weeks.

In response to the customers complaint to the stairs that were installed::

We fixed and addressed the issue with the stairs. The client verbally

told me he was satisfied with the end result.

He tried to put a level tool on the bumpy Chilton slab and said it was

not level. The surface needs to be level in order for that theory to

be in effect. We explained it to him and re-leveled the landing pad

until he was happy.

As for the lawn:

We had to grade his property and he wanted to save money and get his

own fill. We wanted to supply the fill from “Always” because they

have had great history for supplying good materials. He went against

what was verbally recommended. The fill he had delivered was horrible

and filled with 65% cobble stones and boulder rocks and chunks of

weeds etc. This made the job take 3 times as long and effected the end

result.

We seeded the lawn after we graded it and put down the topsoil. This

was during summer in the worst drought in WI. history. We explained

how important watering was and that he needed to have a sufficient

watering source and explained that you could rent sprinkler set ups.

Unfortunatly the customer again went against our recommendations and

wanted to water with his own sprinklers. His watering system did not

even cover 70% of the property. The whole lower section of his

property was never watered all season. To satisfy our customer, we

came back 5 more times and reseeded FREE of charge.

I also was so proud of this project I installed 500.00 worth of

perennials and ornamental trees and shrubs as a surprise to fill in

his new landscape.

We used Encap Seed Stabilizer, Starter Fertilizer, and Seed Aid

Moisture Retention Pellets.

We ended up using 5 times the required amount because he did not

follow instructions. We also recommended he get some more top soil for

the North side of his home because the pitch was steep and he did not

want to spend the extra money. He lives on the edge of a conservancy

and it was starting to bring weeds in and I didn’t want to put weed

control over the new seed because it would kill it. So I spot treated

what we could and explained that we will get him on schedule for his

2013 program and even made and printed it up for him ahead of time so

we could hit the weeds hard in the Spring. He said Ok. I told him if

he bought the seed and encap I would even aerate it for free for him

to thicken it up after the weeds were gone. That was the plan. In

February before the season started I sent him the program we talked

about and were in agreement on in a sign up letter. He did not confirm

sign up. He tried to save money and went against what was recommended

and waited until the end of spring early summer to call and say he had

weeds and did not want to pay for lawn treatments. In lawn care when

we apply weed control especially the potent stuff it has to be cool

and I explained this to him several times. You also have to put down

crabgrass control in spring. He went against all recommendations and

his lawn suffered because of this. When seeding you need to understand

the science and he was educated several times. Once again he said he

didn’t want to pay for lawn maintenance and he waited 5 months after

we sent him a simple send back letter to fill out. Confirming he was

requiring our services.

If you look up our history we have never ever left a customer

unsatisfied. From what we have been told we exceed customer

expectations. He did not follow the plan we agreed to and then wanted

me to do the impossible for no cost. This was not what was in the

agreement and this client neglected to follow instructions and

recommendations. I fear that if we continue to enable him to do things

his way we will be out of business.

I am not clear what he is talking about as far as the Edging goes. His

edging was installed…

I have been to his property and am willing to treat his weeds FREE of

charge with lawn treatments for this fall now that temperatures are

cooler. We are still willing to aerate the property 5-8 times and lay

down the materials we told him to purchase as agreed last season. But

we are not going to pay for the seed and encap and starter fertilizer

and Seed aid a 6th time.

Response:

We just moved into a new home and we can tell right away that the previous owners didn't care for their lawn. After seeing some of the gold course lawn signs in the neighborhood I decided to give them a shot. After several months of lawn treatment and care I'm happy to say that our lawn looked much better. The neighbors even complimented us on the lawn. As a first time home owner I was pleased with all the helpful tips and advice they provided. I look forward to next spring and I would gladly recommend this to any person who is in need I a lawn makeover.

Review: Golf Course Lawns and Landscaping promised (per contract/agreement signed with them) to do a core aeration treatment with overseeding on our lawn. This service was never provided. We called them at least 3 times and left a voicemail each time stating they still needed to provide a fertilizer treatment and do the core aeration. We never received a call back. We finally called a fourth time and FINALLY received a call back - the person we spoke to promised we would receive our fertilizer and aeration within one week. They came out that next week to do the fertilizer. Two more weeks went by, and we never received our aeration service. We called again and left another voicemail. We never received a callback, and no one ever came out to do the aeration on our lawn.

I do not know how a business can advertise "Balancing PH + Core Aeration = A Beautiful Lawn" as their key formula, and then NOT ever provide the core aeration service. They also promised they would provide a complete report with the status of our lawn (PH levels, etc) after each treatment, and we only received a blank report - nothing was ever filled out specific to our lawn. This business is terrible, and I would NEVER recommend them to anyone - they are a fraud. We no longer want their service, they are more hassle than they are worth. We just want to be reimbursed for the value of the aeration.Desired Settlement: We do not trust this company anymore. They have promised multiple times they would provide a service, yet they NEVER completed the service. We want a refund for the value of the service they never provided. Per their advertisement, the value of the aeration is $187 - this is the refund we are expecting.

Business

Response:

Aeration was not completed due to the sprinkler heads not being marked. Our technician went out to this property on 2 different occasions but because the customer did not mark his sprinkler heads (we did not want to damage the irrigation system on property) we could not complete the work. Customer did leave 1 voicemail regarding his frustration which we addressed by placing a rush on his final application. However, the sprinkler heads not being marked is out of our control. Refund in the amount of $187 (what the customer is asking for) PLUS tax 9.58 = $196.54 is being put in todays mail.

Response:

We have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and will accept this resolution as it is a refund for services not rendered. However, I would like to respond to the company's claim about our sprinkler heads not being marked. When the company called me to inform me they were coming by to perform the aeration the following Monday or Tuesday, I did go purchase blue flags that weekend and had all the sprinklers in my yard marked. The company did not come out to perform the aeration service so I began calling the company. I ultimately left five messages for the company to try to follow up and find out why the service was not being completed. I initially left voicemails at 3:18pm on 10/22/14, 5:52pm on 10/27/14, 11:54am on 10/31/14, and 1:11pm on 11/7/14. My lawn was left uncut for nearly three weeks while I was trying to reach them because I did not want to remove the flags or cut around them. I even remarked to others that I was concerned that the company went out of business based on their lack of response. The company finally reached out to me after the fourth voicemail. The individual told me that there voicemail system was supposedly not operating properly and apparently did not receive my earliest voicemails. She did not mention anything about anyone stopping by to complete the service even one time, let alone twice. The individual then informed me their employee would be out within the next day or two to apply a treatment and complete the aeration. The employee did stop by and completed a treatment, but still had not completed the aeration. I left one more message for the company at 5:07pm on 11/19/14 saying that I expected a refund from the company for the incomplete service since it was still not completed and at that point it was too cold for the service to be done. I did not receive any additional communication until this spring when the company sent us a mailing attempting to get us to renew the service with them. There was still no mention of anything regarding the previously incomplete service. I just took the flags out of my yard two Sundays ago on April 12th that I put in last fall for the aeration service. Once again, I am going to accept the refund since they did not perform the service, but I do not appreciate them saying that we did not comply with their request because that is exactly what we did. I would expect that if this was really the reason they did not complete the service, they would have contacted me to let me know that is why it was not completed rather than going six months without any contact at all.Sincerely,[redacted]
