Thank you for reaching out to me about this claim. Mrs [redacted] and myself did have conversations about the table. I offered to not apply the payment code from Moving Helper, which is how we were contracted to unload her moving truck. Her husband decided that would not cover damage to table. In...
discussing matter further, I did tell her by law. We are only required to pay 60 cent per pound for the damage. No full replacement coverage was purchased from Good Hands Moving and Moving Helper has no such form for the customer. Table weighs 200 pounds or less. Thank you for your time. The cost of repair (at minimum $750) far exceeds the cost of labor for moving (~$100). This table is a family heirloom that cannot be replaced and so it must be repaired. The owner mentioned this possibility right after the damage happened, but we rejected it with the expectation that the damage could not be covered by that amount. He gave every indication that he would work with us on the repair cost once I had obtained quotes for the repair since at the time of damage they admitted fault. His employees intentionally and deliberately removed the protective covering that was on the table to protect it during the move. However, since obtaining the repair quotes, we have asked multiple times for this business owner to at least work with us to cover a fair portion of the repair and up to this point, he has completely ignored our communications, even a request to mediate through small claims court. We want to work something out, but this damage only happened due to blatant negligence by his company and he needs to take at least a little more financial responsibility for the damages incurred.
