Good People, LLC Reviews (2)

I witnessed the treatment given by one of the care givers from "Good People,LLC" My brother and I were not the power of attorney people who hired and paid the caregiver When we walked into the house my father sat in a darkened room by himself with a blanket over him in front of a turned off television The lights were all off in the houseThe caregiver was quite rude to us as he told us he wanted us to stay in a hotel when we came to visit my elderly father He knew we were coming, so this was a shockWe refused to leave and he treated us rudely for the few days we were there, only a few days We saw the caretaker order my father around and yell at him when he just wanted to stay up a little later and spend time with us It was the first time I saw him smile since we had gotten there This caretaker complained that our family house was not worthy of him and was, in his words, "crap" It was a 2,square foot beautiful home He spent little time with my father, mostly upstairs on his computer We did not respond or argue with him as our father would be in a vulnerable position being alone with this man once we left My father had trouble getting around and got up at night and slept downstairs, but the caretaker slept upstairs too far away to hear if anything should happen to my father We were personally told that we were in the way and made the caretaker uncomfortable and that we should not expect any food cooked for us We did not, we made our own food There was no attempt to be civil, gracious or even nice to my father Later when we came back after my father's death, he was quite rude on the phone Noone would listen to us My guess is that his sterling references were from the people who hired him in other households He knew who to be nice to I was horrified that my father's last days were in the presence of this nasty officious little man complaints, also to the company, fell on dead ears "are you the POA? If not, I don't have to talk to you" was the answer both of us got from the head of the company I personally was threatened when I talked to him

I was recently made aware of the Revdex.com complaint against Good People, LLC and one of their caregivers. As the family member holding the financial POA for the client in question (my father), I'm taking this opportunity to file a response.
I didn't see the incident involved but was made aware of it both by the complainant(s) and the caregiver, from their viewpoints. As the alleged incident occurred almost 11 months ago, I'm questioning why this filing has been made now, if at all. My father passed away in January, 2016 at the age of 91, and this caregiver remained with him for 10 months, up until his last weeks.
My experience with Good People, LLC and this caregiver were very positive. I visited frequently, either by myself or with my husband. Each time I found my father well dressed, clean, well fed with a balanced diet, and in a house that was very, very clean. The caregiver did offer to cook meals for me, and occasionally I did let him. But his real job was to care for my father, not to wait on me, and most times I made other arrangements for meals, but sat with my father while he ate. Sometimes we all went out to a nearby restaurant and the caregiver took full responsibility for getting my father in and out of the car, helping him eat and ordering meals. I never saw a mean moment between them nor any cross words, and my father and other visitors to the household that I was in contact with never led me to believe there were problems. The caregiver did all shopping and would send me receipts immediately through a cell phone photo so I was able to see what was being purchased, and the appropriateness of his the money was spent. He also took my father to the senior center for meals and socialization before my father's dementia became too severe, to the doctor's visits, for haircuts, and just out on little trips to get out of the house.
I'm not implying that every day was a perfect day, because dealing with dementia patients is challenging, but I never worried that we had made a poor choice in this caregiver or this company. Prior to Good People, LLC being hired, I did call three other families that had used their services, and all were positive.
