I am responding to the complaint with regards to all the issues described. An estimate was given. I quoted for the front brakes and  quoted for the rear brakes.  Mr [redacted] approved by saying "Fix both front and rear"We were in the middle of the brake job and found out that we were not able...

to save the front brake pads because we found damage once they were removed. I informed Mr [redacted] about it and revised the estimate. I gave him the revision and he said he thought that the whole cost was 500. I do not know how he came to that conclusion especially when I quoted the front and rear separately and let him decide if he wanted to service just the front or both front and rear. He changed his mind and opted to service just the front.  We serviced the front.  In the process of reinstalling the old rear brakes a lug nut broke. I informed him and told him I would replace it.  I ordered it and few days later he returned we replaced it. Mr [redacted] complained of noise and was told that the noise was from the rear brakes that were rusted and still needed service.  The rims and lug nuts are not the original factory parts and the lug nuts are thin wall lug nuts and are not as strong as the original.  When we installed the lug nuts and they were all torqued to manufactured specifications 76 FT LBS. That is the what manufacture specifies. We do not just put the lug nuts on with an air gun as it can warp the brake rotors. The lug nut that broke was most likely fatigued from heat. All proper procedure as per the manufacture were followed.  It is a false statement to say that they were over tightened.  I will not take any responsibility for broken lug nuts.  Mr [redacted]'s vehicle was not even in my shop when the lug nuts were broken. It was somewhere else. The broke the lug nuts.  I can not and will not be responsible for another shops actions. In fact I do not even know that it was at another repair shop or that the person performing the repair is an ASE qualified automotive brake technician.  I feel it is just a ridiculous request.  I will not service this vehicle anymore as I feel that this complaint against me justifies my actions. I do not want to see this vehicle on my lot again.  It's simple. The way I see it .... they broke it...... they fix it.Regards,Dennis [redacted]
