requirement of .0839 mm for performance.Customer was informed of the situation. She decided not to have her rotors replaced at that time. She was given theoption of a rejection stick.er for $16.00 per state law or to pay a $25.00 fee for a pre-inspection and to keep the stickeron her vehicle. She chose to keep her 8/2015 sticker and paid the $25.00. She called later that day and informed theservice manager/inspector that she had been able to obtain a sticker from another facility without replacing her frontrotors. She was advised that her rotors where below specs and should be replaced. The vehicle was given a 53 pointsafety inspection which takes approximately 45 minutes. Our shop rate is $75.00 an hour. Customer was treated fairlyand courteously by our staff. She feels that obtaining an inspection sticker from another facility negates the work thatwe performed; but we maintain that we did indeed inspect her car and the $25.00 fee was fair.

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the offer and/or response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.First let me state, this was my first time ever stepping foot on grounds of this business (and of course my last).  The only reason I went to them is because it was my day off from work and my regular mechanic was on vacation.  The letter written by the manager of Goodfella's does not state facts.  I was present on the premises for about 20 minutes not the 45 which is claimed to be the time it takes to do an inspection. I called my husband from Goodfella's after I was told the rotors were bad. My husband told me to leave and take the vehicle some place else because I had recently had my brakes replaced and he said there is no way the rotors should be worn out and not have been noticed when my brakes were changed.  I immediately left Goodfella's and took my vehicle to a reputable tire company, one for the record that does not perform car inspections, for a second opinion per my husband's advice.   I called Goodfella's from that company to inform them of the findings and was even willing to let the manager speak with the gentleman that inspected my rotors.  Instead of speaking with the gentleman, the Goodfella's rep became nasty on the phone.  I left the tire company and went to a different company to have my car inspected and it passed inspection.  I was told a second time that my rotors were fine by the gentleman that performed the inspection.   All of this transpired on the same day in the span of about 5 hours.  So Goodfella's is attempting to make themselves appear to be a reputable company but in this case the facts have been twisted.  The contents of the letter were to be expected, in order to not appear shady they have to place the blame on a others. What the manager of Goodfella's fails to explain is why a different company would give me a passing inspection sticker, let me drive off knowing my rotors were bad, and forfeit making money on the rotor repair for the measly amount of money of an inspection sticker.  If my rotors were truly bad, I gave two independent auto shops a chance to inspect my rotors.  Money was not the problem, I would've paid for the rotors if they needed to be replaced.  The scenario of having my brakes recently replaced is what made Goodfella's appear to be just another company attempting  rip off an unsuspecting ignorant woman.  They did not expect me to make a phone call and get the advice of my husband who wasn't present during this transaction.    This is why Goodfella's is on record per this complaint for doing shady business.
Also, for the record, by law, if I took my car in for an inspection and it FAILED, I should have driven off with a rejection sticker. But I am going to turn a copy of the manager's letter into the state so they can further investigate the admission of shady practices.  So therefore, the only way to remedy this matter is to return my $25.  I should've received  been charged for an inspection and nothing else if they were doing business legitimately.

Review: Goodfellas

Put the radiator in and I told them that it was still overheating . so instead of changing the thermostat . They unplugged a wire under the hood of my car. I did not no because the light or nothin cameon to tell me it was overheatedDesired Settlement: I want them to replace my car .I'm a widow and disabled . They took all my money for poor unexceptional work . I don't know about cars . But I have been told that when you change a radiator you change a thermostat. If they would have done so I would still have my car.

Review: I was told about this place for an inspection. Terrible Referral. I was told my front rotors were bad but everything else was fine and it would cost $200 and they would have to fail my car. I called my husband who told me to tell them to kick rocks because I had just had my brakes replaced a year ago and to take the car some place else. I was charged $25.00 for looking at my car instead of the $16 and a rejection sticker. I left there, went to a mechanic who only does oil changes, tires and brake jobs. They looked at my car for FREE and told me that my front brakes and rotors were fine and didn't need replacing. I left there and went to a different inspection station. My car was inspected and passed with NO problem. All this to say, AVOID at all costs. Shady, Shady, Shady! I called Goodfellas back and spoke with the supposed Manager, who was rude and claimed the other company didnt know what they were talking about because my rotors need replacing. Very rude on the phone, hence why I will not only use social media to WARN everyone but have also placed an official report with the state police.Desired Settlement: Refund my $25

Review: A clutch and [redacted] were replaced in my [redacted]. They broke the [redacted] which threw a check engine code that they claimed was on when they took possession of the vehicle, which is not true. The next day when I actually had a chance to drive the vehicle, after turning the wheel hard right when reversing, the [redacted]) light came on, and would flash on and off when the wheel was turned. Shortly thereafter, the light stayed on. It was at this point that I realized I had lost the use of my horn and the cruise control. This is indicative of a clock spring failure. The clock spring was broken when the mechanic in question did not center the steering wheel when disconnecting the rack and pinion during the [redacted] installation. This is not a hack theory, this is how a clock spring is broken and is universally accepted by honest, skilled, and ethical mechanics.Today was the last straw, I popped the hood because I heard a pinging noise when driving and noticed that several bolts are loose, and I see at the very least TWO transmission bolts completely missing.I am not mechanically inclined, however I have done my research online, talked to other [redacted], and they are all saying the same thing about the clock spring. It was broken during the [redacted] replacement, and the [redacted] was most likely broken while the transmission was being pulled out.The loose and missing bolts I can only imagine were because of pure incompetence and/or laziness, and frustration over the fact that the job may have been bigger than was originally anticipated. Two of the mechanics were rude when questioned, and I have not been able to get in contact with the owner.Desired Settlement: I have another professional mechanic that will be doing the work to fix these issues as I am not mechanically inclined. I am requesting that the cost of labor and parts that need to be replaced due to negligence on Goodfellas Automotive be paid to me. This includes but is not limited to:Clock Spring/Cable Reel W/ Cruise Control Oxygen SensorAny missing/loose fasteners that need to be replaced/adjusted.The cost of labor for this to be completed by a shop of my choosing.

Dear [redacted]:

Details of this matter are as follows regarding the repair issue: The above vehicle was dropped off at our facility in July, 2013, six weeks prior to service being performed. The customer had various discussions with ourselves and others so that the owner of the vehicle could decide if she wanted to junk or fix the vehicle. Our initial advice was to donate the vehicle; first, because of the mileage and age of the vehicle, and second because of the poor condition of the vehicle. After waiting three to four weeks, we were advised that the customer had discussed with her family and decided to install

the new clutch in the vehicle.

We did the installation of a new clutch, pressure plate, throw out bearing and master cylinder in the vehicle. The vehicle was checked by the customer’s son and driven off our facility in good running order. Our obligation was to install the clutch and make sure the vehicle was moving; that was all that the customer wanted us to do. We believe we have done an excellent job repairing the clutch as per the customer order. We hold no responsibility or obligation to fix the vehicle in the condition it is in any further. We were professional and carried out that repair in the best possible way any mechanic could perform. At this time we see no wrongdoing on our part and we also believe that we went more than the extra mile to make our customer happy by allowing them to store vehicle on our premises while their decision was being made and also by providing the work a discounted price.

We are sorry that the customer did not take our initial advice and donate the vehicle and your assistance with this matter is greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,

Service Manager
