To Marie Garcia:In response to the complaint by [redacted] concerning the transmission on the 2006 Honda Accord that was purchased from us at Goodfellas Used Cars. Miss [redacted] did bring the car to us 2 days after the sale and mentioned a problem. We did drive the vehicle with her but noticed nothing of what she was complaining about. She mentions in her complaint that the salesman confirmed what she thought was the issue which is not true. The salesman happens to be a co-owner of Goodfellas Used Cars and he is not in any way an expert in vehicle repairs. This is the reason we did let her know that she should keep driving the car and if she felt the possible problem getting worse then to let us know and we would take further action at that point.  After that she then called to say that the transmission still has issues so we told her that she can bring the car to us so we can check it out properly. We even offered a loaner vehicle so she won't have a problem getting back and forth through out her day as we have her car looked at. We set up an appointment for Miss [redacted] to bring the vehicle in so we can have it checked out. Miss [redacted] never brought the vehicle in and she never called to say that she was not going to bring it in. According to Miss [redacted], the transmission has issues and she wants it repaired or in her case she wants it replaced. At this point our understanding is that she had the transmission replaced by a transmission shop of her likings and she is asking that we pay for the whole bill. This information we got from the Revdex.com complaint. We apologize, but we can't just write a check for every problem that ever comes up for any car that we sell, especially if we don't have a chance to inspect it ourselves or even by someone that specializes in the particular problem the car has. We do help our customers out (probably more than most small dealerships do) if there are issues, especially issues that happen immediately after the sale. We sell all our cars as is because 99% of the cars that we sell do not have any manufacturers warranty remaining on them. In Miss [redacted]s case, we aren't even sure that there is a problem with the vehicle because she didn't bring it in to us to have the transmission checked out by a proper transmission shop that we do business with. Also the shop that she took it to may have over sold her on the fact that it needs a complete new transmission versus just maybe a small repair, even if anything needed to be done at all. We will never know. At this point in time, we can not accommodate Miss [redacted] with this situation. On a side note, the vehicle that she purchased is being financed and we are the lien holder. The one question that I ask all my customers is, If I am willing to finance a car for them why would I sell a car that has problems or even why wouldn't I try to help a situation being that both parties will have some contact back and forth over the term of any loan provided by Goodfellas Used Cars. This also is true for all cash deals and all deals that are financed through other financial institutions. We do a lot of repeat and referral business with some of our customers. You asked for an invoice, but in this case there aren't any because we never had a chance to check the problem out properly. However if you would like, I can provide details from other repairs that were done for customers weather they financed a car through us or even through other banks or even just paid cash for. This we will do to show that we are truthful in what we say.Thank you,[redacted]Goodfellas Used Cars###-###-####

feel any slipping of the transmission. He told the customer to keep driving the car and if she felt the problem again to contact us and we would have to take another look at it. The customer never contacted us back to let us know if anything else had happened and we found out about this situation from the email sent by the Revdex.com. We contacted the customer to find out more information about what happened and why she had not contacted us. Her response was that she wanted the work to be done at a specific transmission shop that she dealt with and that she didn't want the transmission in the vehicle to be rebuilt or even a used one to be put in. We let her know that we would be willing to help her out but we wanted our transmission specialist that we normally deal with to check the vehicle out and we would go from there. She agreed to bring the car in on Thursday 4/2/15 and she would leave it with us so we can have it checked out. We also offered her a loaner vehicle in the mean time because she didn't have another form of transportation. The problem is that she never came in and didn't contact us either. We would like to rectify the situation as we normally do with all our customers but we need her to help us with bringing the vehicle to us.

The truth of the matter is Goodfellas Used Cars should not have sold a vehicle needing a new transmission, period. I shouldn't need to play back and forth games with these guys. I did take the vehicle to Goodfellas less than a week after purchase and the salesman did confirm that it did NOT go into first gear properly confirming my claims. Why he sent me home to wait out more issues with the car I don't understand. Per my complaint I was very clear that I wanted a mechanic of my choice to do the work on the vehicle and for them to want me to bring the vehicle in for a second time to see their mechanic is just a waste of time I already had the salesman drive and confirm the first gear issue and I had professional mechanic confirm it needs a new transmission. What more does this company need to resolve a issue. I already took it upon myself to fix the vehicle as I am not going to drive a car that doesn't operate properly.
