We had booked Gorilla Movers via "***" to move from Kitchener to Woodstock January 26th. We were told they needed a $500 deposit which we sent without hesitation.

When the big day came, the Movers did not show up. Not only did they not show up they did not even give us a courtesy call. We have called numerous times, leaving numerous messages and emails. As of this moment we still have not been able to contact "***" or any other representative from their company in regards to our deposit being returned to us.

So here we are $500 less and paying a deposit on services that were never rendered.

Desired Outcome

We want our deposit of $500 back asap and we would like an apology

I used this company for my condo move last year, fantastic and professional company that was a delight to deal with, thanks again for a great move guys

June 19/18 I called Gorilla Movers to get a quote for moving and I talked a ***. I asked her if they had storage availability and she answered yes. I ask if she would send out a representative so as to give a quotation. She said that they do not do that to say money and if I don't mind she would take a list of what is to be moved and if I would go from room to room starting upstairs then main floor, basement, garage and outside, of which I did. Later that day I received an email from *** that showed an estimated quotation and including storage for 2 months for $3,526.73. I called her back and told our moving date was for August 27//18 which was later confirmed to Wednesday August 22/18, and she said that would work but would require a $500.00 deposit of which I agreed and gave her my credit card information.
On Friday August 17/18, I received a call from *** Storage asking me to come down to sign a contract for the reserved storage lockers. I asked why do I want to do that as I have a verbal contract with Gorilla Movers which includes storage. *** Storage then told me that on June 21/18 Gorilla Movers gave them my credit card to reserve two lockers for September and October and gave them my credit card to charge for a deposit and as well told *** Storage to charge all rental lockers fees to my credit card. I phoned Gorilla Movers and asked *** why she gave my credit card without my permission to *** Storage when the storage costs were in your estimated quotation and did so without my permission. She replied that is the way we have always done business. If *** Storage had notified me back on June 21/18, I would have cancelled Gorilla Movers but now I have only one day before my moving date to find a new mover therefore I was forced to sign the contract with *** Storage and pay the fees. On Sunday August 20/18, Gorilla Movers put through another deposit for $2,000.00. On the confirmed moving date of Wednesday, August 22/18 Gorilla Movers never showed up
Wednesday August 22/18, the Gorilla Movers and gave different excuses which put us at an enormous inconvenience and stress due to our time restraints. The only paper work I received was a hand written work sheet upon completion.
August 27/18, I received an email quote from *** for $2,962.86 more for my November 23/18 additional move from the lockers to our new home. To that date Gorilla Movers have charged $3,664.07 and *** Storage have charged $509.01 for a total charge to my credit card of $4,173.08 which is over and above the original estimated quote. I did not know what to do or say so I said nothing.
On October 10/18, I received another email from
*** asking permission to charge
1,500.00 for a deposit on the November 23/18 move. At this point I figured if I didn't give permission they would not move my belongings and at the end we can negotiate a settlement so, I gave him permission.
On November 23/18 a moving truck shows up with my belongings and about 3/4 thorough the move this guy named *** asked me how is was going to pay the estimated quote of $2,962.86. I told him I'm not as I already paid Gorilla Movers a deposit of $1,500.00 for the move and my contract is with them. This ***, said my company is *** and we were subcontracted by Gorilla Movers to move your stuff and told to collect the estimated amount from me. I told him not a chance. He then called his men off and said unless he gets payment now the remaining belongings will stay on the truck. I told him I am not giving you any money. A few minutes later he came back
and said he had call Gorilla Movers and they told him that they had deposit the $1,500.00 deposit back to my credit card. I check with my credit card people and they said there was no credit received. This *** came back again and asked for $1,500.00 to pay his men and he will go back to Gorilla Movers for the remaining $1,500.00. I reluctantly agreed to get our
belongings.

Desired Outcome

After contacting Gorilla Movers as to why she asked them to collect money from me, she said what does it matter, you gave us a $1,500.00 deposit and you gave *** $1,500, what's your your problem? I said who is responsible for any damages and she said not us, our company are good and don't damage anything. I phone *** and said I would take responsibility if I get the other $1,500.00 form Gorilla Movers, other than that I am not taking responsibility for anything. In my mind, Gorilla Movers is totally responsible for my move and any damages of which there is. They have operated *** and used my credit card without my permission. I figured an estimate means roughly 10% over the quotation. I want $4,000.00 of my money back. My total cost for my move came to $8,228.98 compared to Gorilla Movers estimated cost of $3,526.33. I have sent Gorilla Movers an Express Envelope Quick Ship that will be delivered by *** Friday, December 28, 2018.

Contact Name and Title: ***Contact Phone: XXX-XXX-XXXXContact Email: ***@gorillamoving.comThank-you for taking the time to help Gorilla Movers resolve this issue with our customer. We would like to respectfully disagree with ***.*** agreed to our terms of service through our confirmation email when he booked his move with Gorilla Movers.Unfortunately ***'s move out of his home and into storage should have required 4 men and 2 full 26 ft truck loads.*** also required 3 x 3 10 by 10 storage units at *** Storage. Our original estimate was no longer valid as soon as we arrived at the load location and *** requested we move twice the amount of furniture. Which was difficult on our crew of 3 but we happily got to work. *** paid a total of 3,664.07 to Gorilla Movers to disassemble shrink wrap and supply material load and unload into 3 storage units on August 23rd and 24th. It took 2 days( 16 hrs )with 3 men and 2 x 26 foot truck loads. We also included a small wall repair to damage we did to a basement wall which took a third day.His original move day was pushed to the next day because of rain. We cannot take responsibility for wet furniture being stored in a confined storage unit for months.A revised estimate of 3,000.00 was sent to *** at his request, prier to his move out of storage on November 23rd. It included 2 trucks 4 men and 10 hrs. *** paid 3000.00 for his move out of storage and into his new home on November 23rd. *** paid *** Storage directly for his storage units and signed his insurance coverage with *** Storage directly. We simply held the last 2 storage units available in town as a courtesy. We apologies for the confusion. It was clearly stated in our emails to *** that we work with *** Storage. We had to clarify with *** by phone that he needed to sign his contract with *** Storage. He eventually agreed and did. Conclusion....*** paid a total of 6,664.07 for his moving services. We do not know what he paid for Storage Services to *** Storage as he paid them directly.

I have read ***'s respond of which is mostly incorrect and FALSE.I noticed *** did not reply to the 2nd and 3rd last paragraphs regarding Gorilla Movers subcontracting *** to move our belongings from storage to our new home. Is it possible for you to have *** respond to this event? As well, *** did not respond to using my credit card without permission or who is responsible for our damages. Thank you.Best Regards

Nearly a couple of months before my family's move, I went online to look for a competitive moving quote and received several estimation bids for a move and pack of my home. I received an email from Sue with a quote and I responded back saying thank you and that I had a more competitive offer. Sue called me back and offered to move us for $1617.03. ($159/hour, for a 9 hour move, plus tax, no truck or fuel surcharges). Based on that quote I told her she won my business.

Weeks went by and the day before the move, Friday December 2nd @ 12:50pm, Sue called me back to confirm I said yes and the conversion ended. At 1:17pm the same day, Sue called me back and said "sorry" and that "she didn't know what she was thinking" by giving me a quote so low and that if she didn't readjust it higher she would "..get in trouble." I told her that we agreed to the $1617.03 and that was the price that won her my business. She insisted she had to change it and said she would see what could be done and would call me back. At 1:26pm she called me back and said she could do it for $1670 ($149/hour x 9 hours, plus fuel surcharge, plus truck fee but NO tax). I told her at this late juncture she had me "over a barrel" as I couldn't go and secure other movers on such short notice (19 hours' notice). Though I did ask that if the movers finished early, would she adjust the price down to reflect this. She said yes, that conversation ended. She sent her second "estimate" via email, I confirmed and accepted it. What else could I have done? We needed to move.

The move went well. I want to make a point of saying that the men doing the move were great. The guys were efficient, careful and respectful. My wife and I enjoyed dealing with them. They completed the job in 6.5 hours. After the move had finished, just before paying, Sue called me up and told me "...sorry, I have to charge you the tax, it is illegal not to." Then why offer it in your estimate?! I told her she was moving the goal posts by again by changing the agreed to arrangement. Sue said that since the job was done in at less time, she could add the tax back in and still be under what she quoted me. What I find the most upsetting by this is that Sue's initial quote won my business and that at the very last minute she admitted to "making a mistake". If you factor in the length of the job, projected at 9 hours (like all the original tendered bids I received were) and all the additional costs (truck, fuel, tax) they would've ended up hitting me with an estimate of nearly $1900 for the job and Gorilla Movers in no way, would've won my business from the start. Funny enough, that may have been her initial estimate which I declined.

Though I like the gentlemen themselves who did the moving job, their boss' [redacted] business practice, has ruined the experience for me. [redacted]

They cancelled at the very last minute. Agreed to have them move several items within Waterloo ON- they cancelled at 6:56pm the night before and wouldn't take our calls e-mails or texts We hired Gorilla Movers to help move our son back into university on Saturday August 15th 2015. We had agreed to a price and all the other details as late as the afternoon of Friday August 14th 2015. Just before 7 o'clock the night before the move we received an e-mail from Andrew M. saying he was cancelling our agreement because "it appears the move for you is cost prohibitive". It wasn't cost prohibitive in any way and we had agreed to the price earlier that day. He also said "I have tried to contact you at the numbers provided, however the calls go straight to a voicemail which has not been setup yet." This is a complete fabrication- in fact, we were called earlier in the day by Sue from his office and spoke with her at those exact same phone numbers. Furthermore, there is not one call listed as coming from him at any time in our call display records on any of the numbers he had for us on file. Finally, from the moment I received his cancellation by e-mail, I replied, called and texted him. It is now Monday- almost three full days later, and we have not heard from Andrew or anyone at Gorilla Movers. When we called them, their voicemail was full and unable to accept messages. [redacted]

Gorilla Movers sent 3 inexperienced men to move me. They did not speak English and didn't how to load a truck. Not blaming the employees but the company should send trained movers when charging the prices Gorilla charges. I was quoted 6 hours and it took 10 hours to move me from a 2 bedroom bungalow to a 2 bedroom bungalow. They didn't have to move any appliances, clothes and very little boxes. I personally moved the clothes and boxes. They didn't take the television off the wall and also didn't clear out the garage. They had no floor mats and as a result every step of my Brand new hardwood stairs was nicked. They also got lost for 2 hours in Tavistock with a population of under 1500 people.
I spoke with *** and she asked me to send her pictures of the damages. I did this along with pictures of all the stuff that the movers left behind. I emailed *** a couple of times for a response and to this day she has not gotten in touch with me.

Desired Outcome

I want Gorilla Movers to owe up to the damages that was done by them. Whether they reimburse me for damages of my staircase, which I did send *** a quote, or repair my staircase. This doesn't even take into account the stuff that the movers left behind.

Gorilla Moving Response • Mar 22, 2018

Please contact *** at XXX-XXX-XXXX to settle this issue.

Customer Response • Mar 29, 2018

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)I spoke with *** Saturday March 24/18 to see if we could resolve this issue. She di not come up with any resolution and tried not to accept any responsibility for damages on this move. She said she would talk to *** and get back to me. As of Wednesday March 28th, I haven't heard from *** so I called her back to see if Her and *** came up with anything. She just had more questions and no resolutions. When I asked what her and *** cam up with, she offered me Two Hundred Dollars ($200.00). The estimate for my staircase was over Eleven Hundred Dollars plus tax ($1100.00 + HST). My response was that I would settle out of small claims court for Five Hundred Dollars. *** said she would talk to *** and call me back on Tuesday Aril 3rd/18.Along with the settlement for the staircase I would like the Senior discount which was not given on the invoice but is stated on my quote as follows"Senior discount will be applied on move day."
