Review: Gorman Paving did a tar and chip application to our existing driveway. The last load of stone was a different color then the rest, so we have a patchwork effect now on our driveway.Desired Settlement: We would like this last area of our driveway to be the same color as the rest.

Business

Response:

Tar & Chip is surfaced with a natural granite chip and the stone may

vary in shade from load, to load and we have no control over that. You

were present when my crew performed the work, upon completion you

approved it and actually said what a beautiful job it was.

If you had said something while we were still onsite, we probably

would have gone the extra mile and and tried to do something about it,

but you didn't.

I am sorry, but I cannot devote an entire day and spend thousands of

dollars to redo a perfectly good driveway for free, because the color

of the stone isn't a perfect match.

[To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, you must give us a reason why you are rejecting the response. If no reason is received your complaint will be closed Administratively Resolved] Review: [redacted]I am rejecting this response because:Mr. Gorman had no quality control on this job to ensure the stone matched. If the stone cannot be guaranteed to match, that should be expressed up front, or the company should mix the stone so that one part of the driveway isn't a completely different color from the rest. It looks like a bad patch job. Mr. Gorman's contract had a clause saying I could not talk with his employees about their work. I thought the last part of the driveway they worked on was wet, so I didn't think there was a problem until later. The fact that the poor quality of his work wasn't noticeable until later should not be an excuse for him not to fix it. Mr. Gorman should have reviewed his job upon completion. It's like a painter painted a house 2 different colors, and the homeowner looks at it upon completion, thinking part of it is still wet paint, so nothing is said until later when the darker paint never dries the same color as the rest. Mr. Gorman's comments are not valid. My complaint still stands. No body would ever look at this driveway and say it's "perfectly good." It looks horrible and amateur, and I paid for a professional job.

Consumer called, matter resolved. IC

Review: Gorman Paving was hired to tar and chip my steep slope driveway and provide a culvert on one side of the driveway to displace the heavy run off from both sides of the driveway.

I advised [redacted] Gorman multiple times that the I had already diverted the water from the heavy run off side to the other side. The diversion was to be retained so that the one culvert would rectify both side runoff and erosion issues. I continued to ask multiple times if he was absolutly sure that I did not need two culverts knowing the major runoff side was not being addressed.

1) the culvert was placed in such a way that it does not function. the water runs between the culvert and the driveway and has gouged a 4inch wide 2inch deep runoff between the drive way and culvert. Erosion is continuing at the same rate as without the culvert.

2) the small diversion (3 inch hump traversing the driveway to funnel all the water to the outside edge) was removed during the preparation and paving phases. This has caused exponential erosion to the side I placed my heaviest concern on; I was ensured that the water would continue to transition to the culvert.

I have since called 5 times in the past 4 weeks (once per week ) and finally received a call back from [redacted] after 32 days. Our conversation was not in sync:

- [redacted] is under the impression my concerns of the heavy runoff side were not parlayed to him.

- I know my drive way and I could not have expressed this any more affluently that one culvert concerned me. He ensured me that the with the erosion and layout he saw he could fix it.

[redacted] has considered coming out to as but he has already parlayed that he is not at fault and it is not covered in the contract.Desired Settlement: 1) Return the driveway to a functioning state where the runoff continues to follow the path I had previously maintained

2) properly adjust the culvert to perform its intended function including the original runoff configuration flow.

Business

Response:

[redacted] built his house at the bottom of an extremely steep hill, with little or no engineering taken into consideration, in regards to drainage for his property. When I first came to give an estimate to [redacted] his gravel driveway was so steep, potholed and rutted out that it was basically a non functioning driveway. In fact I would not drive my Dodge Durango down his driveway, for fear of not being able get back up. If [redacted] had his driveway pitched so the water drained off properly and everything was working so well, like he says, I

wouldn't have been afraid of getting my SUV stuck and he wouldn't have been actively seeking advice and estimates from multiple grading and paving contractors.

Review: Gorman paving provided a driveway sealing service that is very poorly odne and does not cover the driveway completely. He performed this service on two driveways for us and both are not completely finished. He refuses to return any calls and his son (the one who performed the job) has hung up on us when we did actually get him to answer our call.Desired Settlement: I would like him to come back and do a repair/finsh the incomplete and poorly done job on the driveways. We have paid the fee for the service at the time of the job and would like to have the job done fully and correctly.

Business

Response:

The name of my company is Gorman Paving. We didn't do this job, the homeowner is mistaken.

If the homeowner checks his records he will see that he has no contract with Gorman Paving and Gorman Paving was never issued payment.
