Gotch Ya Covered

Entered into a contract with Marnitta L, owner of Gotch Ya Covered for first floor painting of our new home on 1/23/2020 and gave her a $2100 deposit. No start date was given because it was unknown at the time and contract clearly states that "Date of start to be determined by owner". Updates were given to Gotch Ya Covered and a starting date was given for March 5. She visited the property prior to this date and stated she underbid the job. She then said she needed $1300 more dollars. We said we wanted her to honor her contract. She called both myself and my husband harassing us for more money. We decided to end our relationship with her as she had hung up on our builder and my husband. She was saying negative things about our drywallers and builder. We knew we could not work with her and asked for our money back. She had purchased paint immediately to my surprise as we didn't have a starting date confirmed yet. I believe she did so to get a deal on the paint. She has given us the paint she purchased. We also told her we would give her $200 for her time. We asked for receipts and our balance owned which was $925 after the correct cost of paint was deducted and the $200 we were giving her. I had verified purchase price of paint with hardware store. She gave us no receipts and only gave us $300 of the $925 owed. We felt it was a bait and switch. We want our balance of $625 owed us.
