Thank you for allowing me to respond to Mr. [redacted]'s complaint.  If I understand Mr. [redacted] correctly he neither attended one of our free real estate workshops nor purchased any products and/or services from the Government Tax Lien Network.  His only complaint is that he does not like...

the substance of one of our radio advertisements offering access to a free training on the benefits of investing in government backed tax liens.  I believe Mr. [redacted] confuses the reference to tax liens which can have a guarantee of up to fifteen percent (15%) return in certain jurisdictions, to a claim that my client is guaranteeing its customers will make a fifteen percent (15%) return on any of their investments.  In that regard he is mistaken.  Tax liens are a generally accepted investments which most jurisdictions, counties, and states utilize to recover unpaid tax obligations.  As these investments are government backed, once purchased most statutes ensure payment within a specific period of time, including statutory guaranteed interest payments.  As such, the investment itself when made carries substantially less risk than other real estate ventures because of this government backing.  I believe Mr. [redacted] confuses this language with an advertisement of "no risk."Government Tax Lien Network is consistently attempting to provide clear and accurate information regarding its advertisements and representations to the public.  The approved radio ads are  compliant, but the company is retaining a second legal review of all advertisements and will ensure compliance with state and federal laws.  Please let me know if you have any further questions in this regard.  Thank youGreg C[redacted]Guardian Law, [email protected]  844-409-1122

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:My complaint is not and never has been against the content of their seminars, as I have not attended said seminar(s), which would be apparent had GTLN taken time to honestly assess my complaint. Clearly they have not, as they repeatedly were unable to even use my actual name, Crissman (not Crossman). My complaint is that the GTLN is violating Truth in Advertising practices. The company's claims are misleading at best. The company claims risk-free, guaranteed returns at a minimum of 15% in their radio advertisement utilizing ambiguous wording. The wording implies that individual investors have a direct guarantee to receive a net 15% minimum ROI. This is demonstrably false, with a good summary available here: https://www.forbes.com/sites/morganbrennan/2012/11/26/vulture-investing-w... am not taking issue with the viability of tax liens as an investment but rather this company's assertion that they are risk-free and their attempt to exploit individuals who do not have a full understanding of the complexities of tax lien law. This company's ad deliberately tries to mislead the public in that it implies that individual investors' principle is guaranteed by the government in an equivalent manner that FDIC-insured deposits are guaranteed, which is not the reality. The ad fails to acknowledge that there are circumstances in which 15% returns, or any returns, will not come to fruition, such as in the event that the property owner subject to the lien declares bankruptcy. My complaint is not about a lack of potential to earn an ROI on tax lien investments but in that Government Tax Lien Network, through their "approved" radio ad (approved by what regulatory body?) Is deliberately misleading the public by downplaying the risks associated with investment.  These practices are, at best,  misleading. In reality, they are borderline fraud.
Sincerely,
[redacted]
