I purchased a tote from Gyard and its handles have cracked after three months of light use I had read that this particular tote had durability issues so when I was looking at this bag at the store I asked the sales associate about this problem The sales associate informed me that Gyard had changed its handles so that the handles no longer cracked Based on what I now know is a representation I bought the bag Three months later I noticed the handles were cracking I contacted the store in another state for assistance as the store I originally purchased the bag from said that I should because the other state is closer to me The store closer to me has not been able to resolve the issue Initially they would not even have the bag reviewed because they said the cracking was natural and from wear and tear even though I had owned this bag for only three months and had used it lightly They informed me that cracking happens naturally as the leather stretches and that it's t

I reject Gyard's response. The sales associate at the San Francisco boutique did not inform me that the handles crack. As I previously explained, that sales associate informed me that Gyard had changed its leather handles so they would not crack. It is unfortunate that the SF boutique is no longer open nor any staff available for follow-up discussions about the sales associate's misrepresentation which lead me to purchase the bag.   Gyard has stated over and over that the cracking handles is just the natural evolution of their products. I have never had any handles crack on any of my other designer bags and this includes chanel, bottega Venetia and Louis Vuitton after less than three months of light use. This is NOT normal. I find it disturbing that Gyard thinks this is just the natural progression of the bag after three months especially given that the bag cost over 1400.  I also think it disturbing that it Gyard expects clients to spend 220 to replace handles on a bag that has handles that cracked after just three months. The cracking also is not on the coating but it is the actual LEATHER that is cracking. I would like to know how Gyard differentiates between normal wear and ear and what they believe are defective products. I am still requesting a full refund. Finally, I would like to note that Gyard only got back to me about the status of the bag after I enquired about the status of the bag. Gyard had informed me that the bag would be sent to Paris for inspection. I would like to know whether the bag was actually sent to Paris. When I asked Gyard refused to tell me and the reason I asked is because there was a very quick return of my bag to me.

The sales associate in San Francisco was not truthful about the St. Louis tote. And as I have repeated several times she informed me that Gyard had replaced its handles so that they would no longer crack. Regarding Gyard's comment about how these are intended to be beach bags and not for everyday use, this is news to me. No one at the San Francisco boutique informed me of this nor any one at the Gyard New York. Regardless, I used my bag about a dozen times and only on the weekends as I have informed Gyard several times. This is definitely not everyday use and I certainly did not weigh the bag down. But the fact that these handles wear quickly after everyday use is problematic and something Gyard needs to make prospective buyers aware of. I have never had a problem with my of my other luxury bags with light or everyday use like I am having with the St. Louis bag. The bag was LESS THAN THREE MONTHS OLD. What kind of bag does NOT hold up after less than THREE MONTHS! I would like to know why the San Francisco boutique closed and why all the staff were replaced. It seems odd to me that a whole set of new staff would be placed into a store that is just a couple blocks away from the old location. Regardless, I had initially requested that my handles be replaced but at this point, I want a full refund for this St. Louis tote given that Gyard is telling me that this bag is really just a beach bag.
