GR8 Construction Reviews (3)

Upon further review of the customer's rebuttal regarding Complaint ID *** at *** *** *** *** I have determined this to be my response Upon arrival to the job site at *** *** ***, I had observed that the paneling and furring strips had been removed by the customer on the exterior walls and the paneling was removed but the furring strips remained on the interior walls The wall brackets and the adjoining cross tees had already been disconnected from the wall and ceiling areas to allow the paneling to be removed The customer had explained that there had been water damage and that he had found black mold, thus his reasoning for the demolition that he had done The 2xwooden studs were used to allow the customer to have the foam insulation installed, which is what he wanted. In regards to the cleanliness of the basement and kitchen areas The customer had asked that any pieces of drywall that could be used again be saved as he wanted to use them for the ceiling in the utility room The request was acceptedThe drywall dust was swept and vacuumedThe job began in late November which meant the furnace was on and would have sucked in some of the dust, therefore spreading it to other areasAs a general rule, construction companies do not wet-vac floors or wash down walls for any consumer once the job is complete. In regards to the request for further work to be completed A copy of an email was attached in the previous letter showing proof that it was brought up more than once. As previously stated about the customer's attempts to contact GRConstruction via telephone or texts messages, GRConstruction closed as of December 1, The need to continue having a working phone was completely unnecessary. The customer's rebuttal states that there were many statements made by GRConstruction n the previous letter In the documents that were previously sent with that letter, I feel, have proven that the statements were not made by GRConstruction The job that was contracted for, which did not include the ceiling, was completed by GRconstruction and paid for by the consumer.Thank you,*** ***

This letter is in response to the allegations brought against GR8 Construction, LLC by an unsatisfied homeowner in Akron, 01-1. The assigned ID given was [redacted]The contracted work began on October 26, 2016. The perimeter wall brackets being rehung were the only area of the drop ceiling that was...

to be done by GR8 Construction, LLC. The work area was swept, vacuumed, and cleaned of any remaining debris upon work completion. All work that was contracted was completed on November 21, 2016. A request for final payment was made on November 30, 2016 via email, which was due upon completion. As of December 1, 2016, GR8 Construction, LLC was no longer in business, which determined the decision that there was no longer a need to carry insurance. An email from the homeowner on April 5, 2017 was the first contact made since receipt of the final payment. The email stated that while the homeowner was satisfied with the drywall work that was completed, there was dissatisfaction with the drop ceiling, which was not part of the contracted work.Attached, please find a copy of the contract with the work to be completed and the discount given to the homeowner highlighted. Also attached, you will find copies of several emails sent between GR8 Construction, LLC and the homeowner regarding the information given in this letter as well as a request for an estimate about a second construction project between GR8 Construction, LLC and the homeowner.

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
[Provide details of why you are not satisfied with this resolution.]
Regards,
[redacted] The letter sent to Terry Corzine from [redacted] dated July 27, 2017 with GR8 Constructions response to my complaint has many false statements in reference to the job done at [redacted]. The first pertains to the wall brackets. The finished wall prior to demo and construction was 1/2 inch wood paneling secured to 1/2 inch furring strips for a total of 1 inch extending from the block wall. GR8 Construction used 1/2 inch drywall attached to 2x4 wooden studs (which are 3 1/2 inches) for a total of 4 inches extending from the block wall. GR8 Construction not only had to re-attach new wall brackets, but also replace or trim cross tees to allow for 4 inches from the wall. This is where the damage occurred. As stated in my complaint letter to [redacted], the wall brackets were not even close to being level and cross tees were bent and damaged. This caused damage to a large portion of the drop ceiling framework.
The second false statement in his letter referred to the cleanliness of the work area upon completion. [redacted] stated the work area was swept, vacuumed and cleaned of any remaining debris. This was totally false. Upon coming home from work after job was completed, there was dust all over the basement floor and walls. The dust was also on upstairs kitchen counters and floors. There was no attempt to clean this up by GR8 Construction. I had to use a Bissell wet-vac to clean the basement floor. There were also large pieces of cut drywall left in the basement that I had to dispose of. Very unprofessional.
The third false statement was that April 5, 2017 was the fist contact to GR8 Construction since the job completion. There were several phone calls made to the company with no answer so messages were left, also, texts were sent to attempt to have [redacted] contact me prior to the April 5, 2017 date that he states in his response letter. Only after that did I send two certified letters in April and May of 2017, not emails as [redacted] claims.
[redacted] also attempts to state how satisfied we were with the job by saying we inquired about a second construction project to build a home bar unit. While we did inquire about this, it was requested before work ever began at our house. When [redacted] and his crew showed up on the first day, I asked him again about an estimate and he stated he had not gotten around to it. There was never anymore discussion on the matter as it seemed he was not interested in giving me a quote.
Of all of the statements made by [redacted], the only one that I am concerned about is the damage to the drop ceiling caused by the poor job re-attaching the wall brackets. I am pointing out the other false statements to show a pattern of misinformation that [redacted] has responded with.
