The patient is over the age of 18.Federal and state privacy laws, including HIPAA, prevent us from disclosing any confidential information concerning the treatment of the patient or providing any of the patient’s records, including billing/insurance records, without a proper authorization. These privacy protections hamper our ability to provide a more detailed response as to the specific treatment rendered.That said, all of the dental treatment rendered was consented to by the patient. The patient paid the patient’s share of the charges at the time treatment was rendered without expressing any concerns about them. The patient was charged in accordance with the terms of the in-network contracted fees under the complainant’s insurance policy. The explanation of benefits produced by the insurance company reflects this.Every patient has the responsibility to check with his/her insurance plan benefits and coverage information and is responsible for any charges not covered by insurance.Our office strives to provide quality dental care and there is nothing deceptive about our billing practices. We are sorry that complainant feels otherwise.We are hopeful that you will close this case promptly.
