Shortly after the complaint was filed, Ms***-*** was notified that her initiation fee of
$was credited towards her balance and she would in fact receive it back, as well as any
earned dues and emergency finds she has accumulated

matter to be resolved; please feel free to contact me with any other questions or
concerns you may have regarding this matter

I have reviewed the customer’s statement, our internal records show that we have attempted to
contact Ms*** by phoneA summary of my findings about this matter is as follows:
It appears on Sept 3, Ms*** came into the office requesting an account summary

and to exit the programShe was told by a staff member that an account summary would be
made in conjunction with the exit and that she could use our computer to electronically sign an
exit request
It appears Ms*** did begin filling out the form electronically, but never finished (though
it is possible she believed she completed it as the form has two parts)The following day a staff
member responsible for processing exit request noticed an alert stating that Ms*** had
viewed the e-form but had not completed itThe staff member sent an email informing her that a
completed form would be necessary to process her exitShe responded saying that she would do
so
Ms*** never did complete the formSubsequently, the all transfer are prearranged, so
her transfer scheduled for Sept transpired
We regret any inconvenience this has caused Ms*** and will process her exit which will
include the return of any ACH transfers collected when the exit form is completed as originally
requestedWe will continue to reach out to her in an attempt to resolve this matter

We have tried to contact Ms*** via phone and email to no availWe would be
happy to talk to her about her account and look forward to doing so
The reason for the different amounts is due to the many failed attempts to collect
the loan as agreed which have resulted in
additional fees being added to her

I did not receive an offer from either businesses to accept my payments made as payment towards the funds that I borrowedI borrowed $and the fact still remains, I paid $to grace periodThe point is, they refuse to apply my payments to my loan and provide me with a payoff reflecting my payments towards my loanIf this is so pointless, why haven't they accepted my complaint and made an offer to resolve itMy payments made are substantial towards my loan and a clear effort to repay my loanI am still waiting for a payoff amount from Grace Period reflecting my payments madeI am prepared to pay the balance of my loan once a payoff amount reflecting my payments to date, thereby reducing my original loan amount accordingly, has been provided

I have chosen to correspond with GRACE Period and DAD in writing because my attempts to work with them over the phone were unsuccessfulOnce I started my correspondence with them in writing, they were either unresponsive or vagueOn 8/22/14, I requested an itemized statement of my accountOn 9/12/14, I received the following response:

After reviewing the emails submitted, we discovered that Ms*** requested to pay off the funds borrowed in full during the permitted grace period and did not wish to participate in the clubWe are going to reimburse Ms*** for all transfers completed excluding the amount of funds borrowed
We truly apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused; Grace Period values its members and we are currently taking the necessary steps to prevent this from happening to members in the future

We have unsuccessfully attempted to contact Mr*** on several occasions and once leavinga message with his wife with no return callPer his instructions Mr*** was exited from ourprogram on 11/21/We regret any misunderstanding Mr*** may have had regardingour program and
all it has to offerWe’ll continue to reach out to Mr*** in an attempt tohelp him gain a complete understanding of our program.We thank you for your assistance

I have called them on several occasions and sent email requesting them to stop taking the $monthly fee out of my account to no avail. I can not get them to return my calls. If there is anything you can do to assist me I would greatly appreciate it

My office has provided Ms. [redacted] with all the information she has requested.
The fact remains that the total payments received by both the club and the lender ($219.20) are
substantially less than the amount she received from the lender ($300).
It is pointless to continue to explain and/or discuss the applicatioin of club dues to her outstanding
loan balance, something clearly contrary to the contract she signed, when the total proceeds are
insufficient when simply compared to the original amount borrowed.
She received funds and at the very minimum she should expect repay the Ml amount borrowed.

After speaking directly with Ms. [redacted], we are unable to come to terms acceptable
to both parties.
Ms. [redacted] has acknowledged that she now understands the long-term goal of our
club, but stated emphatically that had she been aware that our program involved a
commitment to become better prepared for future emergencies, she would have
made a different choice.
We regret that she feels terms agreed by her in writing are not satisfactory, and are
• disappointed that after exhausting efforts to provide all that she has requested, our
only option is to immediately begin collection activity.

RE: Argument to Grace Period- I do not owe Grace Period any more money - Please ask them to stop debiting my account. I would like to be terminated from their program immediately.  
 
I attempted to pay off my loan with Grace period by e-mailing the staff on Oct 15th. They would not permit me to do so, I am not sure why.  I feel as if I was taken advantage of as a customer.  I originally took a loan on October 11, 2013. I went into this program thinking this was a program to help customers, a savings program .  This is what the advertisement states, Grace Period A Christian Organization to help People.  Well I feel ripped off.  I paid into this program a total  of $900.00 for a $425.,00 loan.  I am not sure why I have paid this amount of money.  I attempted to pay this loan off which I contacted Eric on October 15th by e-mail and voice mail. and was told to leave a text message.  I tried again on 10/25/13 asking to pay by balance of $437.00 and to no longer participate in the program and I spoke to someone with a accent convincing me why I had to stay in the program.  I made  numerous contacts with the staff [redacted], [redacted], [redacted], I have left messages.  I have several e-mails.  I have contacted the credit union and to be told I can't terminate the program until Grace period says.  I feel threaten and violated.  I want out of this program.  I do not want to be a  part of this service.  The numerous e-mails /conversations have been with [redacted] and one with [redacted] and [redacted].  [redacted] has made reference to my account being debited in an e-mail without my permission and my arrival to Grace Period today March 14th.  I have never agreed to meet with the staff at Grace Period face to face. I am not sure who they spoke with.  I need to cancel my contract with this company.  I feel this company is extorting money from consumers.  I am trying to survive like everyone else and feel taking advantage of.  Can you please assist me with settling my dispute.  I also was told I will lose the money that I would have saved. this program is not free and they need to provide some of the money that has been taken from me.

someone at our office and that she felt the goal of our program, building and emergency fund,
was not fully explained at the onset.
At the conclusion of the call Ms. [redacted] made a decision to remain active and continue her
participation. We have apologized to Ms. [redacted] and are reviewing our phone processes to ensure
that our response time improves.

Ms. [redacted]’s account remains in serious arrears at this time. Regardless of an assertion of
miscommunication, by her own admission, payments made to date are insufficient to cover borrowing
proceeds. Additionally, Ms. [redacted] has elected to restrict bank access which has placed her account
with us in default.
We believe this matter can be settled to a mutual satisfaction and look forward to working with Ms.
[redacted].

After opening this case they excited me from the program with out contacting me and kept all my money.  I can not believe this scam and that it is legal to continue.  No one ever contacted me and in fact I left several messages.

I have reviewed Ms. [redacted]’s complaint. We had a chance to speak with Ms. [redacted]’s on March 7,2014 in regards to any questions or   concerns she about her membership with Grace Period. After explaining our program and answering any remaining question, Ms. [redacted] decided she would like...

to come in the office to complete the process in order to opt out of our program. Ms. [redacted] was also explained the direct impact it would have on her club balance by not completing the annual plan. Ms. [redacted] is in no way forced to end her association with our organization and is encouraged to stay in our program to reap the full benefits. Her decision to stop participating is regrettable. Regardless of her decision, the door is always open for Ms. [redacted] to continue her membership and reclaim the benefits that come with the completion of her commitment, her previous time as a member will remain on record permanently.

I have attempted and have been unable to reach Ms. [redacted] to discuss her concern. I have
reviewed our staff’s notes from phone conversations occurring on March 11, 2014 and May 15,
2014.
According to those notes both conversations were similar. An...

explanation of our dues cost
recovery through participation after repayment was discussed and a copy of current account
activity was provided. The notes say that Ms. [redacted] expressed an interest in not continuing
after repayment, which is regrettable.
As of the time of writing this letter, Ms. [redacted] is one installment away from completing the
requirement of repayment and is certainly encouraged to continue participation to receive a
complete refund of her club dues as provided for in the agreement she signed. I look forward
to a conversation where I would encourage her to do so.

Review: Having borrowed 350$ from this loan business, I was placed into a payment schedule that I was not aware I had signed for. After a communication with a representative in March, I was informed that my payments would soon be over with. It is now mid-May and they are continuing to automatically deduct 75.00 per pay for the balance I owe them. For a 350.00 loan, I have now paid 800$ and am continuing to pay this for however long they have stipulated. I feel that indicating that they are a "free" lender was completely a false advertisement, as was placing me into a payment plan when I was initially told that if I could not have the full amount processed within my next payment for the lending fee and amount of the loan, that I could contact them to have a payment plan setup.In all times that I have contacted them, I have not received a single useful response or had any proactive effort to simply pay off the owed amount in full instead of this continual accrual they claim I still owe.I find this non-profit organization to be a total and completely illegal farce.Desired Settlement: COnsumers need to be notified that this business is a scheme.
