I purchased a set of four wine glasses and a caraffe at the Grafton Country Store on the 28Jan2013. The glasses and caraffe were decorated with a picture. I had only used the set a couple of times and handwashed it both times. Upon using it again in July 2013 the picture came off on one of the glasses. I returned the set to the store on the 11Aug13 and was rudly advised that nothing could be done unless I had a receipt. I no longer had the receipt. The [redacted] attempted to look up the item since it was no longer for sale but could not locate it unless I had the date of purchase. She was very uprupt and unpleasant. She did not apologize at any time or offer compensation like store credit. She told me to call back once I found the purchase date. On the 13Aug13 I called back and spoke to the same [redacted]. She advised me that the store [redacted] felt that too much time had passed and could not do anything about the purchase. Again the [redacted] was very curt and did not apologize for the inconvinience and money lost on the purchase.Product_Or_Service: Wine SetDesired SettlementI would like to get a store credit of $55.24. The purchase price of the wine set.Business' Initial Response When the individual who filed this complaint originally came to the store, she claimed that she had bought the wine glasses 'the other day' though she had no receipt. Despite this misleading statement, our own research turned up that we had not sold that item in quite some time with the last purchases in the January / February 2013 timeframe which is well outside our return policy window. It was explained to the individual that since the product was outside of our hands for 6+ months, we would have no way of verifying any claims of hand washing or other handling. Due to this, we cannot refund her money or provide her a store credit. In regards to customer service, we apologize that the individual felt they were treated inappropriately but we need to remain consistent with these policies for all customers.Consumer's Final Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)I did not claim to buy the wine glasses "the other day". I made it very clear that I bought then a while ago, but having only used then a couple of times I do not feel that the glasses should have been in the state that they are in. The store should at least provide a store credit and contact the manufacturer to issue a complaint for poor quality. There store policy is not clearly stated anywhere and there communication to customers is very poor at best. The store is selling a product that is not acceptable and should take it up with the manufacturer not the customer.
