Gramman Plumbing & Heating Corp. Reviews (2)

Review: I called Gramman Plumbing & Heating on April **, 2014 in that I had a leak under my bathroom sink which was coming from one of the faucets. The plumber arrived and after checking for the leak under the sink, he advised me that I needed a new faucet that there was no way to repair it. I advised him that it was only a year old and he said that it could be faulty that I should purchase one from a plumbing supply which would be more costly than shopping at a Home Depot or Lowes. I was charged $161.85 (tax included) for the service call. I then called in a friend, who is not a plumber, and he quickly found the problem with my faucet. He found that the screen in the spout was clogged which resulted in the water backing up under the sink. After he removed and cleaned the screen in the faucet, the water never leaked under the sink again. I called Gramman Plumbing to advise them that I was upset about being charged the $161.85 and having a non-plumber correct my leaking faucet. I was not offered any refund.Desired Settlement: I would like the total amount of $161.85 refunded back to me in that the plumber did not correctly diagnose the leak in the sink.

Response:

When testing the Price Pfister faucet, we did notice a leak into the cabinet below after running the faucet for a little while. After checking the issues with the faucet, (and with the faucet being so new, installed by others), we advised [redacted] she should replace this faucet. The faucet in question with a semi clogged aerator/screen or completely clogged aerator/screen should never cause it to leak internally. This tells us there is still an internal defect with the faucet. If future debris starts to clog the aerator/screen, this identical problem will continue to occur. Any slight leak or moisture that accumulates under a faucet deck or cabinetry could be subject to mold or mildew.

If the service call charge is in question for our technician's time, we will be more than happy to split that charge with [redacted]. We still need some reimbursement for our technician's time and professional opinion.

In closing, [redacted] did contact us to let us know she had a friend, who was not a plumber, temporarily eliminate this problem by cleaning the aerator. Nothing was discussed regarding refunds or credits back to the customer.

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me and the matter has been resolved.

Sincerely,

Review: Problem: Hidden Service Call Charge not disclosed to customer when appointment is schedule.

On Day 1, I spoke to sales person at Gramman Plumbing & Heating Corp. to describe the list of items that need to be looked at in my house. The sales person did not communicate to me over the phone that there will be Service Call Charge of $149 + tax just for dispatching the mechanic to my house. I asked for estimate pricing on fixing the thermostat and kitchen sink faucet over the phone, the sales person refused to disclose the estimates and insisted the mechanic will go over the pricing details on the date of appointment. I made the appointment for Feb * of 2014.

On Day 2, I spoke to a different sales person at Gramman Plumbing & Heating Corp. to bring a sample thermostat just in case the one I bought from Home Depot would not fit my needs. Again, the sales person did not communicated to me over the phone will be Service Call Charge of $149 + tax just for dispatching the mechanic to my house.

On Day 3, mechanic shows up at my house, looked at the items to be fixed, went to the truck and come back with a write up of a cost of over $1000 dollars for replacing thermostat and replacing a kitchen sink faucet.

When I stated I don't need their service due to high cost, then the mechanic states that there is a Service Call Charge of $149 + tax for coming to my house.

I refused to pay the cost because I am not aware of the hidden cost, otherwise, I would not even schedule the appointment.

Few days later, I receive an invoice from Gramman Plumbing & Heating Corp. that Service Call Charge of $149 + tax with a grand total of $161.85 is charged to my name with invoice number of [redacted].Desired Settlement: Have Gramman Plumbing & Heating Corp. drop the Service Call Charge for invoice # [redacted] with invoice date March **, 2014.
