I called Gran Mar this morning, 6-4-16. My downstairs AC stopped working and my upstairs unit was not registering cold enough for the inspector that checked it in Wednesday. We have sold our house so wanted to fix it. The guy told me when I talked to him that it would cost $80 for him to come out. This is after I told him I wanted him to check BOTH AC's.
The guys were super nice, but after getting a bill got $498 I understood why.
He DID fix both units. Put 3 lbs of freon in the upstairs unit. Said the condenser was going out. But DID NOT ASK ME just told me when he gave me the bill!! The condenser was out on the downstAirs unit. These are three year old units.
He charged me $80 for EACH UNIT!!! I called him after he left. That's what he told me.
I called a couple other places. And his service call is higher but about right on freon.
I just feel he should have asked before he replaced the one condenser.
I WILL NOT RECOMMEND HIM FOR ANYTHING!!!
I have used Gran Mar for over 30 years! Are they the cheapest? Probably not. With Heating and cooling you get what you pay for!! I have never been lied to, cheated on repairs! They will not pad their bill....I always get good quality work!! They can be trusted to do everything right. Thank you Gran mar for a job always done right,
On 6-4-13, I contracted Gran Mar Enterprises to come to my home and to provide a "tune-up" for me 3 air-conditioning units. The tech arrived and said that I needed to replace one of the compressors for only $2500 labor as it was still under warranty. The owner of the Co. showed up later and said that I only needed freon. The tech then fell through my ceiling. Reather then hire a dry wall company; Gran Mar tried to repair it themselves. This took, 7 return visits, 8 weeks, and 60 hours of my time. 2 weeks later, reather then a letter of apology they sent me a bill for $527.28. I responded with a letter stating my objections, and two weeks later I received a letter from a collections agency. I am shocked this is how this company treats its customers and somehow remains in business. Do not use Gran Mar Enterprises for your air-contitioning needs.
