Granby Auto Wash Reviews (1)

Review: I was hoping you may be able to help me with an issue I had with Granby Car Wash (located at [redacted]). On January 5, 2014 I brought my car in for an exterior wash. This car was purchased (new) from [redacted] on December 11, 2013 and was received in pristine condition.I entered the line, got out of the car and advised them of the wash type I wanted (an exterior wash with wax). As is typical they drove the car onto their belt to pull it through their semi-automated system. I say semi-automated since an employee of the car wash was positioned near the left front corner of my car to apply soapy water stored in a large bucket or drum to the front and sides of my car. He was using some sort of brush or mop at the end of a 5 to 6ft handle, and was both throwing the liquid towards the car (but not making contact) and doing so and making contact. After applying enough liquid, he proceeded to brush the front and sides of my car. I watched him do this until the car proceeded down the line. The car went through the remainder of the cycle, their employee drove it off the belt to towel dry the car and I then drove directly to my home, which is 5 minutes from this establishment. Given the layout of the establishment, I was positioned off of the left rear corner as the person toweled off the car. When I arrived home I immediately saw two scratches in the front of my car (a picture is attached). I drove back to the car wash to complain about the car. The manager did come out to look at my vehicle and said the owner would have to call me the next day (Monday) to discuss what he would do. I provided my contact information and awaited a call. I never received the call, so on Tuesday contacted the business and asked for the manager/owner, who I understand to be [redacted].When I did reach Mr. [redacted] he recalled the car, a black Dodge [redacted]. He recalled that I was using expletives when I arrived to complain about their poor service (I did stop because they said I would not find out what they would do if I did not). He then proceeded to characterize me as being like all of the other people who come in who once the dirt is washed off the car notice a scratch that has been there for awhile . I tried to explain that the car was a little over 3 weeks old so that could not be the case but he did not pause and proceeded to tell me that he used the brush (made of some special material) on his fathers [redacted] automobile and that it never scratched that car so how could it possibly scratch mine. He then advised me that he read my review on line, felt he would never be able to satisfy me, that I would never go back, so was not going to try and then he hung up. I believe, but am not certain, that he was the person applying the soap to the car. I point this out since he had the opportunity to look at the damage to my car that day but did not, and his manager did not volunteer that he could go get the owner immediately. My home is 5 minutes from this business, which we have frequented in the past. Both my wife and I have pre-paid coupon books for washes (I used one that day). We shop at the Stop and Shop next door, buy coffee and donuts at a Dunkin Donuts across the street, and shop at the liquor store down the short road the car wash is on. Mr. [redacted] is correct in that I will never go back if he does not address the damage he or his employee caused to my car. Note that the front of my car is plastic, not metal, so it has a gel-coat on it rather than automotive paint. This means that I cant simply apply touch-up paint to it, but considering the length of the scratches I would not do so anyhow. This is a brand-new car which I would appreciate looking new for longer than 3 weeks.I would appreciate your help in arranging a satisfactory outcome to this problem.Sincerely yours,Desired Settlement: I would like to be reimbursed for the repair of the damage this business caused to my car.
