To Whom it May Concern,
My Grandmother and I recently stayed at the Grand Canyon Gateway Inn in Williams, Arizona and unfortunately had a very negative experience which brought some concerns to my attention regarding fire and safety hazards, and sanitary conditions. The lightswitch to the main light source in our room sparked and made, what I would call, zapping sounds when I tried to turn the lights off eluding to the potential of wiring issues. My concern is obviously for fire and safety hazard as well as poor lighting conditions for seniors with impairments. There were two places were smoke detectors had once been but were since removed. I killed three bugs while I was in my room, one was found crawling toward my face on my pillow. Naturally, concerns were raised with management and we were treated very unkidley, and unprofessionally. I feel strongly that the combination of potential fire hazard via the electrical wires, poor lighting, and absence of fire detectors creates a dangerous scenario for potential fire and safety risk. I also think that sanitary conditions here are very questionable. All in all, I felt I should relay my concerns and hope that positive changes can be made to ensure safety and sanitation. I believe our negative experience and ugly interaction with staff was a poor representation of the city of Williams and hope that at the age of 78, my grandmother and I have the opportunity to visit again.
