Review: This place sold me a 2002 Ford truck. Went to trade it in and found out that the vehicle in question was a total loss vehicle .We paid blue book for the vehicle and did not get even close to the blue book price because the carfax report said the vehicle was a total loss vehicle that was in an auto recycler facility. We had asked for a car fax but the dealership said we would have to pay for a carfax.We have been informed that we would have to take a loss because of the total loss,and that financial institutes would frown upon financing a total loss vehicle. And that would have affected insurability.I thought there is a total disclosure policy that says that informatiun like that should have been told to us.Desired Settlement: I would like a refund as we have already replaced the truck.

The Customer's spouse contacted me this morning and said they were trying to trade the truck in I am assuming in New Mexico where they now live. As of two hours ago they still owned the truck. I reviewed our records with her while she was on the phone with me. We had an Auto Check Report. Auto Check gave the vehicle a 90 score. Most of those vehicles are rated from 79 to 88. We did a comprehensive inspection on the vehicle and found no signs of any damage. Now supposedly there is a Car fax report out there claiming a previous total loss. I do not use Car Fax because in the past there were accuracy issues. I did more than is required before the sale. I am not required to run any vehicle history reports by law, but I do use Auto Check vehicle history reports. I also rely on our eye witness inspection. There were no signs of any damage. This isn't the first time some car dealer some where told people there was a title problem when attempting to trade a vehicle. I feel we have been above board and have done nothing wrong. The customer is expecting me to go way above the reasonable care standard set forth in Wisconsin Statutes. The customer threatened to hire an attorney, at this time I feel I could not have done any thing better - we spent an estimated $2500 retail on parts and labor for the MECHANICAL repairs on this truck before we offered it for sale. We warranty the power train for 3 years or 36,000 miles. It sounds like from talking to the customer, she suddenly does't feel safe in the vehicle because of this supposed Car Fax Report. Yesterday it was perfectly safe and today it is not? I feel that we do not owe the customer any monetary damages.

The Auto Check Report I have in my hand has a score of 90. The report you may have seen may have been run recently and may have a different score. I don't have access to Auto Check's scoring model which I am sure is protected property. I stand by our personal eye witness inspection of the vehicle and the good condition of the vehicle. I have 30 years and my mechanic has 25 years of doing vehicle inspections. The vehicle and all of the paperwork we had were in perfect order. There is no solid evidence to back up your claim - and again read the disclaimer on the Car Fax Report.
