Grand Events 4U & Party Place, Inc Reviews (1)

Review: I rented the [redacted] for my daughter's birthday party at my home on 11/16/13. The driver of the truck backed into my mailbox post, knocking the mailbox and post arm from the post, and basically rendered the post unusable. The owner's husband was the driver of the truck, causing the damage, before the party even began. The owner's husband led my husband to believe that he would cover the damages, so we proceeded to use the services and allow the birthday party to go on as planned. The owner's husband provided us with a business card, and again told us that he would cover the cost of the repairs, that all we had to do was submit the invoice. On 11/20/13, my husband had the repairs done and the invoice was submitted to the address provided by the owner's husband. After 2 weeks had passed, I contacted the owner's husband (using the contact number on the business card) to check on the status of the reimbursement. He indicated that his wife would be mailing the payment. Later that evening, his wife contacted me and made arrangements to meet me at my home on 12/6/13 at 11:00 AM to bring reimbursement, and to have my husband and I sign a release form to indicate that no other damage was done. My husband and I waited on 12/6/13 - and the owner did not show up to the scheduled appointment. She also did not call. However, I called and when I contacted her, she made another appointment to come out to my home to bring the reimbursement, this time the appointment was for 12/11/13 at 6PM. The owner spent the next couple of days having very rude and unprofessional email exchanges and phone calls, and I realized that she had no intention of reimbursing me for damages that was done to my personal property by her [redacted] truck. The appointments that the owner made with me was clearly to drag the process out for a month after the damage occurred.Desired Settlement: I would like the owner to cover the cost of the damage to my mailbox post, which has to be replaced as a result of her game truck. I submitted the invoice to her in the amount of $202.88 which covers the cost of the materials and labor to have the repair done. The owner has expressed that she believes the cost is inflated, but I have explained more than once that my neighborhood association has required that the entire community have standardized mailbox posts.

Business

Response:

I spoke with [redacted] from the business and she stated that the damages that were done to the mailbox were the arm of the post was broken. She stated that she would have had her contractor go and fix the damages for the consumer. She received an invoice from the consumer for around $200. She will be willing to pay for the damages the truck did to the arm which was $[redacted].

Consumer

Response:

I have reviewed the offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

I cannot accept the offer being made by Grand Events 4U ([redacted]). They admittedly damaged my personal property. [redacted] husband ([redacted]), who caused the damage to my personal property, agreed to make the repairs at the time of the incident, and then when the invoices were provided to them, [redacted] decided on her own how much of the damage they are willing to cover. That is not good business, and it is not operating with integrity. The receipts I provided included the cost of the actual materials used to make the repairs, and the receipts were all valid on company letterhead from the various vendors. I don’t know where else a person that damages someone’s personal property has the authority to control when the repairs get made, by whom, and how much the repairs should cost. [redacted] only wants to cover the cost of the mailbox arm – and I have told her repeatedly and provided receipts that the mailbox post was damaged, not just the arm. Is there no other recourse that the Revdex.com can provide to this matter? I definetly want other consumers to know about the lack of integrity for this business, so that no one else has to unknowingly go through the issues I have had with this business and it’s owners.

Regards,
