I am writing in regards to the complaint submitted to your office on 8/ID of ***The customer purchased a vehicle from us one year ago and was supposed to bring his vehicle in for completion of a small bumper repair one year agoWe have not heard from him until we received this complaint
The two inch scratch on the bumper occurred on the lot prior to the customer purchasing the vehicleWe certainly would like to take care of our customer; however it is impossible to rectify a problem if you don't' know a problem existsI have tried to make contact with the customer after receiving your letter and will continue to call so we can hopefully find a solution to this problem. We want to make the customer happy, however because on year has passed since we saw the vehicle last we would like to visually inspect the car to make sure there is no additional damageWe also did not agree to have a body shop repair the vehicle to like new conditionThe vehicle that was purchased is a a dealer cannot afford to spend thousands of dollars repairing a fourteen year old car that has a very small blemish on a bumperWe originally let the customer know that this was not being sent out to a professional body shopWe have a vendor that goes to car dealerships and performs these types of repairsWe would be happy to have the vendor we use look at this car and be willing to pay as long as there is no additional damage that occurred after he took delivery of the carWe are not willing to pay a body shop or choose from the two repair estimates the customer providedthese are open end bids that have the potential of costing fifty percent of what the customer paid for the entire vehicleWe also find that two estimates have such a huge cost difference approximately 60%, in a very competitive industry, that the customer is being somewhat deceptiveDemanding ta rental car is a little over the top on a vehicle that was sold in as in condition. The vehicle we sold was a great deal and a vehicle in near perfect condition, again the car is fifteen years old and there are going to be imperfectionsWe would like to have the customer bring the car back in and leave the car until the repair is completed approximately two days we would be willing to pay for the repair if brought to us in a timely matter not a year from now
