I was surprised it was a complaint on the job I had just installed Friday 8th I was never informed by [redacted] that there was any problem with the work preformed and she had my cell # as all my customersI was never even afforded the opportunity to fix anything that may be incorrect before a $3, refund was demanded to redo a perfectly fine installation Back in 05’ I was running crews between Milwaukee and Palm Beach Florida where we installed Hurricane resistant windows where the strictest building codes in the World existI will happily meet any professional [redacted] would like to examine her installationI’ve redone other company’s installer’s work on multiple occasions so I welcome anyone of her choice to critique my job, as long as I can examine one of their jobs to confirm I’m not being played! I can provide the names and addresses of the jobs people who have paid me to redo work done by a different company that I had to fix, if you’d like I can forward those names and addresses? I actually have politicians who recommend my credentials on Linkden I sold [redacted] the windows with her boyfriend [redacted] present on April 17th 2015, with a start date of June 1st completed June 4th On Monday May 4th [redacted] called to ask me if the windows were in, and I told her I wasn’t sure I’d check they very well may be as I get a truck on Mondays and Wednesday’s but that the start and completion dates aren’t for another weeksI then explained to ***, that the manufacturer wouldn’t notify me until the following day once they were able to sort and count the unitsI got the list on Tuesday early evening so I didn’t want to call [redacted] until I could arrange the delivery and installation considering she’s calling me work days after ordering, obviously anxiousI had promised to make her my priority and I was able to set up delivery and installation for ThursdayWhich, I arranging ahead of other orders that were received for Grand View Windows on that particular delivery truck I thought [redacted] would be happy I called her Wednesday to tell her I’d be able to deliver and install the windows tomorrow, Thursday May 4th At which time [redacted] explained to me that we wouldn’t be able to deliver them in the morning as she going to the graveyard, and she didn’t want to cancel her rideI was a bit taken back because she’s retired and was calling me the previous Monday as she was anxious to get them installed, but no big deal I understand So I asked if she could have someone just let us in, she said no but you could start the job at 1:pm I explained to her that we could have them delivered but probably wouldn’t be able to start installing the windows until the following dayThen I reminded [redacted] that there was a COD due of at delivery and she said, NO, and started ranting “I’m not paying anymore until the jobs done.” I explained that we had all read through, when making the agreement weeks earlier and that $3,was due on deliveryShe went on to say, “how do I know you won’t run off with my money and do nothing.” To which I replied, that’s absurd the windows would be delivered, we’ve been in business since and take pride in having an A+ with the Revdex.com both in Milwaukee and Palm Beach Florida Then the phone went dead for a while, I didn’t know what else to say? Finally [redacted] stated well if I agreed to it, I guess I’ll pay it As policy, Grand View Windows write the orders with 40% down – 40% on delivery and 20% on completionIn when the housing ***et crashed Grand View Windows lost $165,in COD’s people decided they couldn’t payIt cost our company dearly having to cut back advertising and lay people offWe would take small deposits with the balance due on completionWe DO NOT do that anymore and payments were explained to [redacted] and her boyfriend [redacted] when sold I mention this because look at the amount she’s demanding, $3,and note she didn’t want to pay the $3,This is exactly why we have this policy on payments Thursday, I showed up at ***s at 1:pm sharp at which time she explained she had no room in the garage and I’d have to store the windows in the backyardI was thinking that’s crazy were on 39th and Silverspring why wouldn’t she tell me so I could make other arrangements and not waste ½ my day I called the factory, explained the situation and told them I realize you might have to charge me delivery charge again because the trucks on it it’s way, but please make a special trip in the morning I can’t leave their windows outside in this neighborhoodThe factory had to check schedules and rearrange some things but was able to accommodate us; of course with Grand View Windows having to pay an additional delivery chargeI must admit I wasn’t real happy I just wasted a ½ day for a delivery I can’t take because I wasn’t told there was no room for them and just paid a double delivery charge, Did I complain, Never even brought it up! The following morning, I did come out to the job site with a new employee who was supposed to meet me at 7: and was a no show at first [redacted] , my helper called to tell me she watched me pull away, so I did decide to turn around to pick her up as I had promised [redacted] all the windows would be in the first dayHowever, other than needing help lifting the Picture window I would have been fine installing the job on my own and at least know everything is done perfectRegardless, knowing I’d be late I made the decision to turn back for [redacted] to keep my word to [redacted] like I had done for weeks now, so certainly I take responsibility for running behind schedule Anyways make a long story short my helper decided not to follow instructions and argued with how I explained to do preparatory work When I’m training new personnel I have them do things like take out old windows, scraping old caulk off and removing nails from interior trimShe helped me install the Picture window and we came to a mutual agreement that she would call Tom my friend she dates, and he’d give her a ride home Sometimes it works out; sometimes it doesn’t with new employeesIt’s just part of any business [redacted] hadn’t worked for Month’s and I thought sometimes someone just needs a chanceUnfortunately that wasn’t the case here The complaint states I was arguing with [redacted] for hours and I spent minutes on one windowI started pulling windows at 9:00am and left for lunch at 1:30pm, [redacted] showed up at 1:At 1:30pm openings were trimmed with aluminum and windows removed, storm windows removed and windows installedThat would mean that in hour minutes I removed, installed and trimmed windows if you deduct the hours arguing and minutes on one windowThe timeline really doesn’t make sense? [redacted] wasn’t following directions and on separate occasions did argue with me and she was asked to leave the job site I spent minutes on the living room double hung, not minutes, then I went and put aluminum trim on the bedroom windows and installed of them the bathroom window and the kitchen windows [redacted] who I called because of ***s constant nagging, showed up in the mean time and he installed of the bedroom windows so the house was closed up and I could take lunchSo I’m not sure what was meant by me spending minutes on one window or how that effects the installation if I had? Sometimes I run into problems and it could have taken that amount of time, I’m just stating that is not the case here Unless it’s cold or raining this is the procedure on any Grand View Windows job remove ALL old windows install ALL new windows insulate ALL new windows nail all interior stops up screw the windows in Caulk the exteriors That’s actually a condensed version of installation procedures because on this particular installation, the old windows had the retractable jambsWhat I mean is that the old windows were removable because the jamb on the left hand side had a spring systemWhen the windows are like this the actual opening where the window sits is ½ wider than the finished opening Make a long story short, it simply means I needed to put ½ fill in the jamb where it wasn’t visible so that the windows were centered in the original finish opening or centered on the finish appearance and they would be better winterized being in a snugger opening In addition, the first window we installed the 3-lite slider needed lath on the exterior of the main frame where the expander normally goesI’ve found over the years it’s necessary to have a solid foundation beneath the sill system on sliders so that they never start to sag from the weight of the glass, so I use wood lathe under sliders and then I trim everything with aluminum so it finishes niceMatter of fact I’m posting ***’s slider on facebook for Grand View Windows My friend at Oak Creek automotive has a sign in his shop that says; $dollars an hour labor rate $an hour if you want to watch $an hour if you want to help! Yes I did take a lunch, but there are labor laws that will protect me on that part of the complaint! Upon my return from lunch, [redacted] stated to me that we hadn’t insulated of the windowsThat was not correct, of the windows weren’t insulated and I knew which and exactly where [redacted] was with his work and could supervise him because he was installing the windows exactly how he was trained, do one thing on all the windows, then go to then next step on all the windows, ect [redacted] put in her complaint that [redacted] was winterizing before insulating? I wasn’t sure what that meant on a window job by “winterizing” other than insulating so I looked up the word “winterize” on Wikipedia And the definition of winterize is; to add insulationSo the complaint is that we were insulating windows before insulating windows at 1:30? Because the next actual step after insulating them is to nail the stops back up which she clearly states at 4:30pm had not been done when she comments, not one room was finishedWhy weren’t the stops nailed up and the windows finished at 4:30, because [redacted] was still insulatingI’m a month ahead of scheduled installation date and finishing a job I gave myself days to do on the contract in one day, I wasn’t aware of a 4:deadline anywhere? Especially after I had asked [redacted] which room he wanted finished first several hours earlier for his cats to which he replied, “doesn’t matter the cats are in cages” Evidently the kitchen mattered! [redacted] states in her complaint that I made derogatory statements thinking she couldn’t hear when finishing the caulking outsideWe were in an sq ft home with windows, I was quite aware she could hear and was making light of the situation because contrary to their concerns we finished the job in one day a month ahead of schedule and I thought they were heckling me jokingly all day because it’s pretty obvious, once I start installing to anyone present, that I do know my Job Very, Very Well I read the Revdex.com complaint after dinner several nights ago and when I saw front windows were upside down, I freakedI could not sleep I went to ***s home the following morning, to discover that contrary to the complaint, no windows were upside downWhen I asked why she would make such an absurd claim, she stated to me “ [redacted] told me the sliders were upside down” Actually most sliders are reversible, so it wouldn’t matterHowever, [redacted] has the best and they have bearings under the sash so they need to go in correctly or they wouldn’t operate properlyWhen I left that night, not only were they in correctly, I showed [redacted] how easily they operated because of the bearings So I explained to ***, If they’re upside down it’s because [redacted] turned them aroundWhich she stated he wouldn’t do! I’m not good at caulking, I’m GREAT at caulkingI have not been on a job in years to work with any installer who knows my abilities that the caulk gun was not specifically handed to me when it came time to caulk I was trained by the best years ago while installing Sear installations for Capricorn the authorized contractor in Illinois, Indiana and WisconsinI ran the Wisconsin Crews Most of my customers request I’m on the job and not to toot my own hornBut I am definitely in the upper 10% as far as the worlds best installers goI am great at my Job, that’s why I’ve done it for years Solution: Grand View Windows is working on is a form, similar to what some of my competitor’s use, which we’re going to send our customers ahead of installation to explainPlease Note; while were working it is not allowed that a customer, family member or friend is within 25-feet of our work area from the start of job to the completion, while were installing any Windows, Doors or Siding While I was pulling out the first couple windows, ***’s boyfriend [redacted] made the comment to me that on the exterior of the sill I needed to use some wood putty or something to take up the gap, where I had just cleaned off old caulkingI chuckled and explained to him, please let me do my work which will answer 90% of your questions{We don’t use wood putty on exteriors of windows if wood is bad we replace it, all the exterior casings get covered with maintenance free aluminum and then we use Quad sealant which runs us about a tube because it is the BEST} Then the card club started showing up at about 9:- 10:am or so True story, I’m in an 800-sqft bedroom bungalow and at 9:– 10:people start showing up to play cards in an area there’s windows being replaced installers, adult occupants of the home, full home of furnishings and now the card club filing into the home, our work area I explained when selling the job that I needed a day and ½ to install the job, it specifically states on the agreement days for installation I’m confused on why [redacted] wouldn’t inform me that Friday all her friends stop by to play cards in their tiny bungalow, so I could schedule a different day? Or why she wouldn’t simply move the game to someone else’s home, which would have allowed me to do my job more efficiently? minutes later [redacted] asked me, why does that front window frame look like its crooked and sagging? I chuckled and stated, “because it’s crooked and sagging” I then went on to explained, I set the frame in to insulate the sill then I have to put the windows in it, square it up and then screw it in, If you allow me to do my job 90% of your questions will be answered minutes after this I hear “A LOUD CRASH”, and I freaked thinking oh my God what did [redacted] , the girl helping me do! I go running to where the noise came from to find [redacted] holding a broken window Evidently he tried to take out one sashOut of pieces of glass removed from the home that day (counting top sash, bottom sash and exterior storm windows tops and bottoms), It was the only broken window if you want to call blowing a window up breaking it(Seriously it went BOOM!) And when I saw what he had done I stated to him, “Please, please do not try to help, ***! Yet this is the person [redacted] credits with giving her installation advice? I promised [redacted] A Great window and she got it, double strength glass, warm edge spacer, extruded screen frame, reinforced frame design and constant force balancer, Low-e/argon gas filled glass from a great manufacturer so she’ll get service forever even if I drop dead next year I promised [redacted] A Great Installation and she got it! Sill on lite was reinforced, fill was installed on all the openings so the windows centered in the opening properlyAll windows properly installed, insulated trimmed and caulked I promised to make [redacted] a priority and did it, ***’s job was ordered, built and installed exactly weeks to the day from order I promised to have them delivered on Thursday and wasn’t told she had any room to put the windows somewhere safe costing me an ½ days time and an additionally delivery charge on Friday, but did so with no complaints to try to appease the customer I was promised by [redacted] 3,on delivery, but when I reminded her she started ranting she shouldn’t have to pay anything more until we were completedWhen delivery arrived 8:45am I did not get payment as promised and had to ask at 1:and waste part of my break running to the bank to make a deposit the delivery driver could have made for me that morning when payment was due, and I did so with no complaints I stayed until 8: to finish because at 4:30, weeks ahead of schedule, [redacted] was complaining “not one room was finished”So I finished all of it by 8:30pm staying late with no complaints from me With that said this is what I’d be willing to do ***s neighbor across the street wants windows So I will give their neighbor windows of identical openings at my expense I will measure, install, trim and caulk one window Then [redacted] can have her window advisor [redacted] measure, install, Trim and caulk one Then we’ll pick random people off the street to look at both windows and request they give us their opinion on which window would they want in their home if they could only have one If I don’t install my window, by myself in ½ the time of [redacted] and the non partial people we ask opinions of don’t pick my windowAll have to pick mine and I have to do it in at least ½ the timeIf just one picks ***’s window, if his window is installed correctly of course I’ll pay [redacted] 3,If all pick mine and mine is installed correctlyI want a written apology for their slanderous letter to the Revdex.com and 1,to cover the cost of the windows that I gave their neighborI would also like to video both installations and be allowed to use it on You tube, my website and any advertising we chooseIn other words I’m willing to risk 4,for an apology! This offer expires 6/01/ I did notice that on two of the front windows I did forget to caulk the top of under the awningI will happily meet [redacted] there with a caulk gun and sealant and allow him or [redacted] to caulk the top of one of those windows and show me how it should have been caulked as she told me on the phone she knows how to do the caulkingI will then go around to every window and make sure they all match how I was shown to do it, if [redacted] chooses that’s what she’d like me to do? Of course if the caulking is done incorrectly by either of them, I’d be willing to fix it but there would be an additional charge I called [redacted] the night I got the Revdex.com complaint with no answer and then she contacted me the following morning after I had examined the jobWhen I explained on the phone to [redacted] I took pictures and the job looks great other than the two windows missing caulk on the top, she stated “I have pictures too and there are other missing spots ” I said, “if you show me I’ll touch up anything you like, you have my cell #, but you mean to tell me that you want a 3, refund for couple spots of caulking touch up and told the Revdex.com basically I’m so incompetent that we installed windows upside down which is just plain false, because [redacted] told you, yet you didn’t examine your own windows, or contact me for service before filing a complaint? She said, “Stop screaming at me and hung up on me”The only person screaming throughout the process was ***, and if anyone talks with her you’ll understand exactly what I’m talking about Honestly before seeing ***’s ridiculous extortion letter, I thought [redacted] and [redacted] were friends, I feel all my customers areI put up with the snide comments all day because I thought they were like the New Yorkers I’m used to in Palm Beach, where they argue just to argue then smile, shake your hand and tell you good job! Had I any idea this was game to try to manipulate my company out of 3, I would have stopped work after ***’s first question, explained my insurance does not cover me if a customer is within feet and either they go out back, work in the garage or yard or I’d have to leave and reschedule when they could make sure no one was within feet of any of the work areasI will not make that mistake again! I would have no problem using ***’s home as a reference and showing potential customers our work, the job is beautifulThe old siding is in horrible shape, the home needs tuck pointing on the brick work and all the fascias are painted improperly, but if potential clients could get past the lack of maintenance the window job is beautiful 50% of my work is add-ons, meaning customers order more products, or referrals, meaning customers refer us to their friend, family or neighborWe do Great work and I’m proud of the Staff I have, they care about people and doing a good job and I have a stack of Thank you letters and Christmas cards I get from our customers to prove itNot to mention the politicians, lawyers, judges and Professional people I work for dailyI can certainly forward any information you would like to substantiate my claims and I will happily pay any one from the Revdex.com $to show me exposed wood around any of the windows I installed where ice will build up and eventual ruin the windows as noted in the claim, other than a simply caulk touch upAgain, I will happily go back out there to go over anything [redacted] would like, without [redacted] or course, but with any window professional of her choice!
