We did have to clean the unit However, I would be willing to refund one half of the charge to repair the walls (75.00)

I rented an apartment from Grandin Properties starting December I terminated my lease for the end of May, Instead of the business returning my entire deposit on the apartment, they deducted dollars for "damage" done to the apartment and for hiring cleanersI was told that there was damage in a closet, that blinds were damaged, and that extra cleaning was requiredWhen I emailed them to enquire about the supposed damage (of which I am unaware) and about the cleaner charge, I heard nothing I left the apartment cleaner than I found itThere was no need for a professional cleanerMoreover, I left the closets and blinds in the condition I found themI cannot imagine what damage Grandin is talking aboutThe apartment is very old and not in a particular good condition when I moved inBits of wood were missing from inbuilt drawers, there were nail holes in the wood frames from earlier inhabitants, the floors were worn and the varnish coming off, the windows were filthy

The tenant’s claim that the unit was “spotless” is not consistent with our post move-out inspection results Professional cleaning was required in order to re-rent this unit and the tenant has been supplied with a copy of the cleaning bill and pictures from the inspection

I rented an apartment from Grandin Properties from 8/7/to 2/19/ I had everything moved out of the unit on 2/12/and hired a professional cleaning service to clean the unit in its entirety on 2/16/I inspected the unit one last time on 2/16/after the cleaning and returned my keys on 2/18/to Grandin PropertiesWhen I inspected the unit on 2/16/2016, it was spotless When I did not receive my full security deposit back, I sent an email asking why I did not receive the full deposit backThey sent me an itemized list of issues in the mail

$- Professional Cleaning
on 3/14/206, I followed up with another email asking why the professional cleaning was necessary when the unit was just professionally cleaned
My contact at Grandin replied on 3/14/with, " I have access to the pictures I took on final walk through I only charge for professional cleaning when we hire an external contractor

We will be willing to send past resident a check in the amount of $in order to close this issue

In response to my complaint, Grandin Properties merely reiterate that the apartment needed cleaning, but does offer to reimburse some of my withheld depositIn my view, the offer is insufficientHere are the problems:(1) In their letter to me, I am charged for "significant holes from pictures, patch and touch up other holes, repaint"As I have acknowledged, there was indeed one larger hole that I have agreed needed repairBut as can be seen, I am being charged FOR WEAR AND TEAR (patch up other holes, i.eordinary nail holes from hanging pictures)This is not in accordance with the lawYou are not to have your deposit deducted for wear and tearMoreover, as I also pointed out, there were no significant holes in the closet and Grandin has provided no evidence that there wereAs for painting, I know for a fact that painters repaint all vacated apartments as a matter of courseIf that is the policy of Grandin, I certainly have no issue with itMost apartment complexes do thisBut I should not be charged for it.(2) Damaged blind in living roomI left the blinds in the state I found themAgain, I suspect that what I am charged for is WEAR AND TEARI lived in that apartment for years.(3) I have rented apartments for over years and have not once been charged for extra cleaningWhy? Because I leave the apartment cleaner than I found itIf Grandin automatically sends cleaners in without assessing the need for cleaners that is up to themPerhaps this explains why I am being charged.I expect that to repair the one hole in the living room should amount to no more than around dollarsHowever, in the interest of resolving the dispute, I suggest Grandin withholds dollars and returns the rest of my deposit
