Last September I moved to the area quite a ways from my wife and kids to start my career as an electrical engineer. Because I was living in 2 areas Richland and Port Angeles, I was on a limited almost fixed income. Now I was commuting to work 63 miles one way and decided that what I was spending in fuel I could afford a more economical vehicle. and actually save on some money. So I searched for a good vehicle and looked high and low and came across a 2003 Ford Focus SVT. 6000 bucks. Ok had 100K miles on it really clean.
I was not honestly looking at this car but it was suggested to me by Jose. I wanted something lower miles but he insisted that this was a good car. I felt as if I could relate to him and he used stereotypical salesman tactics. Car drove good when I bought it but check engine light came on during the test drive. kind of funny I went in to do the paperwork and they pulled it in to the shop and obviously erased the DTC code. He also said I was due for an oil change and that to bring it back in and they would schedule it. Which they never honored that but that's not my issue. With in 2 hours of driving the car off of the lot, the check engine light came back on and I called Jose and said I have changed my mind I don't want the car anymore and that I wanted my other trade back. He said sorry, the car is yours and I never spoke to him again. I never saw a carfax either because it was "as-is" it me should have looked it up on my own. I am the 6th yes 6th owner and the vehicle that was deemed mine had been in an accident. but he made me feel that a lot of people wanted the car and I would lose out on it if I didn't jump so with out gathering all of the information I needed I went for it.
So as angry as this made my I thought lessons learned. I started fixing broken little things, side mirror, cracked fog lights, little minor things here and there. because of the "SVT" badge EVERYTHING was special order and Very expensive. Started by a tune up, Timing belt and pulleys, not bad, ignition coil, again not bad general maintenance and oil changes as suggested but during this time it began to shift really hard, I lost reverse and drove it carefully for 3 months getting very creative on how I had to park at places. I contacted Getrag in Germany and was able to purchase the Shifter Tower assembly and this even didn't correct the issue. I lost my Clutch Master cylinder, you know not bad again but noticed that the nipple on the slave was leaking clutch fluid and that my clutch was about worn anyway so I started looking into that, quotes 2000, 1400, 1600 all over town so I contacted Andy at Grandstand and spoke with him about getting the clutch replaced and adding the cost of the vehicle onto the back of the loan, but this cost made me sick. figured to get the car to operate as designed I needed to do it and found a mechanic who would replace the clutch and slave cylinder and spent 1200 to do so. Car came out, Still no reverse shifted really good nut it was as if I didn't have reverse at all, Gate was there just never engaged. They suggested that I have a worn shifter cable so again I babied it. for 1000 miles, and almost one month the car drove great forward.
Keep in mind because of the non availability of parts it was 3 months no car July-September. Drove October and just before Halloween pushed the car out into the road like I did every morning and "POP" nothing!! Clutch felt good there was still vacuum on the system, shift cables looked intact, really not sure what happened but I freaked out, At this point already I have already paid out more in repairs than I had paid on my loan. So I contacted the bank and wanted to know what my options were, looked up lemon laws and filed many complaints. Bank suggested I contact Grandstand and see what they can do for me. I called and asked for Andy, but Jimmy said he was the one who handled online requests and emails and seemed to be eager to help. He explained to him what was going on and he contacted me a couple of times and told me to "call" or Email him. Now one of the main reasons I had to go here was because of my less than stellar credit and the last communication I had from him told me to re apply for a loan and we would go from there. I applied but have been unable since to get a hold of him. I realized that honestly they lied to me and shame on me once for believing them but the before they could fool me twice, I looked into feedback read complaints asked around and asked others with Grandstand license plates if they would ever go back. I feel that I was pushed into a Lemon and I feel very taken advantage of. Now I am upside-down in a car that doesn't drive half of the time I've owned it. This is a horrible dealership and its no wonder that they are not accredited. Very Shady
