The date and timeline of the repairs to the project are generally correctHowever I do not agree and never stated that the product was faulty at allDuring the initial installation of the product the garage floor was cleaned with industrial concrete cleaner and a psi pressure washerThis
process is designed to remove loose concrete, oil and salt from the surface of the concrete to allow proper adhesion of the productDuring this cleaning lots of loose particles of concrete came off of the garage floor, especially in the area towards the center of the right side of the garage and some more toward the center of the left side as wellThese areas of the garage floor had significant existing pitting and damage prior to the installationThese areas also are considerably lower than the rest of the garage floor and contribute to considerable amounts of water poolingThe areas with the most existing damage and later subsequent problems are approximately under the center of where the vehicles would normally be parked.During any installation process there are days that are shorter or longer depending on the dry times of the different steps of the installationConcrete cannot be put down on a wet surface and must be completely dry before there is any chance of rain hitting it or before any color can be appliedWhile this was a garage installation there is a section at the front of the garage that is open to the elements Furthermore once the color is down it two must be completely dry before a sealer can be appliedThese factors typically make a garage installer longer and more spread out as compared to a patio that is open to the wind and sun and will always dry faster. In I returned and those center section portions of the product had come loose There were signs of white residue under those loose sections and again more sections of the original garage floor had come looseThis white residue is typically a sign of salt efflorescence. Secondary efflorescence is named such as it does not occur as a result of the forming of the cement stone or its accompanying hydration productsRather, it is usually due to the external influence of concrete poisons, such as chloridesA very common example of where secondary efflorescence occurs is steel-reinforced concrete bridges as well as parking garagesSaline solutions are formed due to the presence of road salt in the winterThis saline solution is absorbed into the concrete, where it can begin to dissolve cement stone, which is of primary structural importanceWhere this process has taken hold, the structural integrity of a concrete element is at riskSecondary efflorescence is akin to osteoporosis of the concrete.1Again the area was cleaned with pressure washing and concrete cleaner, and the product was reapplied. In September again, the same general areas began to peel once again with more white residue and existing garage floor peeling as wellAt that time Granicrete International was consulted for other ideas and solutions to the issue of the known effervescence and the existing garage floor issuesThey suggested scarification of the floor to remove the entire coating and approximately the top 1/in of the original garage floor to try and eliminate the existing substrate issues in the garageI followed the suggested methods of Granicrete International and after the scarification was completed, I again pressure washed with concrete cleaner as an additional precaution. Again in August I was contacted with the coating coming loose in the same general areas as the previous timesI again returned and removed all of the loose areas to find more white residue and existing substrate coming looseOn almost all the Granicrete product that had come up the original garage floor was still attachedI have kept all of this from the last repairI again attempted to repair the product one last time by using a newer product that is designed to remove effervescence from the concrete call HD PregrindThis product was applied as per manufactures directions and again the floor was pressure washed afterwards and the product reapplied.Unfortunately the existing garage substrate is failing and all attempts to mitigate that has failedThe product cannot possibly remain down when the garage floor it is being applied to keeps breaking awayIn this situation I have gone above and beyond to try to solve a problem that was never a product issue and never covered by warrantyI strive to provide a quality product and provide excellent customer service but is this situation this there are elements that are out of my controlBecause of these issues this cannot be considered a warranty issue as outlined in the contract clauses belowThe Granicrete Wisconsin LLC assumes no liability for damage or delays caused by ***, *** agent, acts of God, or any other causes beyond control of the Granicrete Wisconsin LLC*** understands that Granicrete Wisconsin LLC assumes no responsibility for recurring or new cracks from existing substrate due to substrate failure, ground movement, expansion or contraction, or stress loads.Warranties: Except as set forth herein, Granicrete Wisconsin LLC makes no expressed or implied warranties regarding this contract or the work performed under itGranicrete Wisconsin LLC does not warranty against cracks, freeze damage, storm damage or any damage caused from intentional or unintentional contact with salt or any other thawing compound, or any chemicalEfflorescence From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. ***

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
The contract specifically states there is a ten year warranty from the date of installation against cracking, chipping and peeling. Granicrete LLC did not adhere to the agreed upon contract. The response is not acceptable and we will seek further action against the company for failure to honor the contract. The customer service provided by Granicrete LLC was substandard. He arrived well after the times he said he would and while "working" on the floor, spent more time on the phone than performing actual work, prolonging the process. None of what was stated in the business' reply was ever explained to us during the process. The business promises services it cannot provide.

Review: Granicrete was hired to complete a home improvement project, garage floor covering, at my residence. the project came with a 10 year warranty. [redacted] of the business has been to my home 4 seperate times since 2011 to initially install and subsequently repair a faulty product. The floor has chipped, flaked and popped up from the garage floor. In September of 2014 I sent a letter to Granicrete asking for a full refund and never heard from the company. I sent another letter via certified mail which is attached below.

[redacted],

On 07/13/2011, you were hired to complete a renovation project on a garage floor at [redacted] in the city of Milwaukee. This initial project was completed, and a contract was signed for said project by me and [redacted]. The cost of the renovation, $2812.50, was paid in full upon your completion of the project, half at the date of the agreement and half upon completion of the project. The contract states that there is a 10 year warranty on all products and labor included with this renovation. (See attached copy of the signed contract.)

On or about 6/20/12, the floor covering that you had installed, began to chip and peel from the garage floor. You were contacted and stated that you would return to repair the garage floor, per the warranty and contract agreement.

On or about 7/4/12, you returned and began the repair work which included grinding up the original floor covering and replacing it with a new covering. In approximately one week, this repair work was completed.

On or about 9/10/12, the newly repaired floor covering began to chip and peel a second time and you were again contacted. You stated that you would return and repair the floor covering once again.

On or about 9/26/12, you returned to repair the floor covering. You stated that you consulted Granicrete International who recommended you scarify the floor and reapply, which you state you completed and applied two coats of sealer. In approximately one week, the repair work was completed.

On or about 8/15/14, the repairs again began to chip and peel from the garage floor. You were contacted for a third time and stated that you would return to repair the floor.

On or about 8/28/14, you returned to repair the floor covering. You state that you removed all loose texture and cleaned the areas with pregrind. New texture was then applied, colored and sealed. In approximately one week, the repair work was completed.

When the initial contract was signed we were notified that all items needed to be removed from the garage, which we did. We were also notified that we were not to drive on the completed floor for approximately 7 days, which we did not. Upon completion of the original floor, there was a large amount of concrete dust in the house and out that needed to be cleaned up. This was expected and we did so with no issues. The original completed project met our expectations and matched the color which we wanted.

Each repair completed on the floor has caused more cleaning, storage of our items outside and discontent with the completed repair. Each time you replaced the floor cover, it was a different color and the latest repair is nowhere near the original color.

At one point you informed us that you believed that the damage to the floor was caused by a poor product and the manufacturer was contacted. The manufacturer informed you that you needed to grind the concrete down further and thoroughly sanitize it, which you said you did.

While dealing with you during the repair processes, you would not arrive at the times we were told you would, and would depart early in the day, prolonging the repair process. This caused personal scheduling issues and conflicts with us, as someone needed to be in the home while you were there.

The latest repair completed is not satisfactory and again peeling from the garage floor. Due to aforementioned circumstances and the fact that we no longer have the time or inclination to again allow you into our home to complete another repair, we are requesting a full refund from the original contract, 2812.50. Please make a check payable to [redacted] Bachmann, for 2812.50, and have it delivered to [redacted], no later than 3/1/15, or we will be forced to seek further legal action against your company.

We appreciate your prompt attention to this matter.

Sincerely,

[redacted] and [redacted]Desired Settlement: A full refund for the initial project in the amount of $2812.50. If this is not completed, we will seek legal advice and request additional funds for clean up costs and damages.

Response:

The date and timeline of the repairs to the project are generally correct. However I do not agree and never stated that the product was faulty at all. During the initial installation of the product the garage floor was cleaned with industrial concrete cleaner and a 5000 psi pressure washer. This process is designed to remove loose concrete, oil and salt from the surface of the concrete to allow proper adhesion of the product. During this cleaning lots of loose particles of concrete came off of the garage floor, especially in the area towards the center of the right side of the garage and some more toward the center of the left side as well. These areas of the garage floor had significant existing pitting and damage prior to the installation. These areas also are considerably lower than the rest of the garage floor and contribute to considerable amounts of water pooling. The areas with the most existing damage and later subsequent problems are approximately under the center of where the vehicles would normally be parked.
