Granite City Vision Center Reviews (%countItem)

I was a patient at Granite City Vision and went in on 1-23-18 for a yearly exam and contact lens fitting. Before they would order trial pairs of contacts, I was asked to make a deposit on a years worth of contact lenses in the amount of 125.51 per office policy. I was also charged two exam fees, one being for the contact lens fitting. I went in several times after that initial visit because the optometrist was unable to fit me in the correct prescription contact lenses. She was unwilling to listen when I told her that my vision was still blurry with the trial pairs and they were getting worse (1st pair was the best, 3rd pair was the worst) while the power of the lens was being decreased. I was ignored when I suggested that she increase the power or fit me in a different type of lens. I was pressured to leave and try the trial pairs even though they were all causing blurry vision while in the office. After the third trial pair, she said she wouldn't be able to order any more per office policy and I was pressured to order one of the trial pairs that wasn't the correct prescription. I was also being referred to a specialist but the optometrist and staff still wanted me to order the wrong contact lens prescription with the hopes that the specialist would be able to correct my vision (with a time frame of 3-6 months) to make the contacts work. I was unwilling to order the wrong contact lens prescription. When I asked for a refund I was denied and told by another staff member Amy that if I was to get a refund from my FSA credit card company or my insurance company that I would get billed for additional services that weren't provided and that I would be taken to collections if I didn't pay the balance. The owner eventually gave me a refund on the contact lenses (125.51) but not the exam fees despite the optometrist being unwilling to order more trial pairs and fit me in contact lenses correctly. I was never given a contact lens prescription and my exam was not completed.

Mrs. had been a patient at our office for a few years. On each visit she has been rude and degrading to the office staff. She talks down to them at every opportunity. Yes, she even informed the doctor as to the prescription she needed, even though she has no training in Optometry. ***'s accusations are simply false. She has been issued a refund for the amount she willingly paid down on contacts. It was her option for a year supply. We only require deposit on a 6mo. supply as you will see in our company policy *** signed. She WILL NOT be refunded the exam co-pay and fitting fee, as services were rendered. However, her insurance benefits for a new exam were also reinstated, so she can go elsewhere and use her full insurance benefit for a new exam and contacts. Patient was given a prescription and told readers would the option over contact lenses. *** refused RX and doctors recommendation. Patient was given a full refund on contact lens order. Due to the fact she has created a problem, is rude and degrading to our staff causing a disturbance in our office, She was informed it is in her and our best interest if she seek services elsewhere in the future and we would be happy to forward any info., at her request, to her new provider.

Complaint: ***

I am rejecting this response because:
The owner's accusations are false. I have not been rude to the staff. I was threatened by the staff (Amy) to be charged for additional services not provided and then to be taken to collections. I was told at my first visit that they would only order trial pairs of contacts if I put down money to order contacts, which I have since found out was against FTC regulations. I was not offered a prescription for contacts (on this visit and the previous ones) and the exam was not completed due to the prescription being incorrect causing headaches and blurry vision.

Sincerely

When speaking with patient about refunding her money, I explained that I would do the following for her :

-Refund deposit paid on contact lenses $125.51

- Reinstate full exam and material contact benefit with her insurance carrier, so she could seek services elsewhere and have her entire exam and contact lens benefit still available.

- Her entire retail bill for all of her EXAM (only exam not including CLs) services were $350.00 Of that she paid $15.00(Towards exam) + 60.00(CL fitting)on date of service. I explained to patient I would be happy to refund the amount stated above she paid towards contact lenses ($125.51), but the $75.00 she paid on exam and fitting would not be refunded, as services were rendered. Patient agreed and accepted this. I told her a refund would be mailed to her soon. Next thing I know I’m receiving a Revdex.com complaint about refunding her exam fees as well…..I am unwilling to give Mrs. Schneider any more money back concerning exam contact lens fitting. Patient was seen on several occasions for fitting of contacts. Upon final exam she WAS given a prescription, but refused doctors recommendation and was non compliant. That is when we decided it was in the patients best interest to seek other eye care options. A full comprehensive exam and several CL fittings were provided to Mrs. Schneider, in which on each occasion she was rude, demeaning, and difficult to the staff. She also made fun of my name because my Last name intial is “C” She laughed and joked at our front counter, Haha “ How ironic last initial SEE!” Mrs. Schneider has responded that these accusations are false, so I have attached statements (5) from employees that worked with her and/or spoke with by phone.

I am now being threatened with legal action for posting a review online. They think that my review is unfounded but it is truthful. They did violate FTC regulations. They are claiming they did not. They gave me until noon today to remove the review or they will forward it to their attorney and pursue necessary legal action against me. Because of this complaint I updated my complaint with the FTC. Now they are violating the FTC Consumer Review Fairness act.
