We are engaged in the extensive remodeling of a house that we built in Because our original granite supplier is no longer in business, we went to Marble & Granite Gallery initially to purchase a granite countertop for a powder room With help from Darius and Renata, we found a remnant that was perfect for the powder room
Happy with the first job, we returned to purchase granite countertops for two very large vanities and a madesk in our master bathroom When we were unable to find in the showroom samples that coordinated with existing granite tile in the master bathroom, Darius sent us to three granite wholesalers to look at material We found a slab that coordinated beautifully with the floors and walls in our master bathroom
While looking for granite for the master bathroom, my wife spotted a marble slab that she selected to replace damaged granite around the fireplace in our living room That slab was large enough that she also asked Granite & Marble Gallery to fashion a cm thick top for a table in our foyer
In the spring, we began work outside the house, including construction of an outdoor kitchen Our landscape architect proposed limestone countertops, but cautioned that they were more porous than the granite countertops in our kitchen Rather than settling for material that might stain, we returned to Granite & Marble Gallery where we found a sample of a granite that blended well with the brick on our house and with the stone of our outdoor fireplace We purchased two slabs for the outdoor kitchen
Granite & Marble Gallery did excellent work fabricating and installing the tops for our powder room, master bathroom, foyer table and outdoor kitchen, and fabricating and installing the hearth and surround for the fireplace in our living room At the inception of each project, Darius provided a price that I considered fair and reasonable, and, with the exception of the foyer table top, which was not a rush, he committed to a quick installation schedule In every instance, he completed his work for the price quoted, and was prepared to install on or before the date he had committed
I seldom rate a supplier above four stars, and reserve five star ratings for suppliers who go beyond providing excellent service Marble & Granite Gallery earned a fifth star
When Cipriano came to take measurements for the outdoor kitchen, he noticed that the rear wall of the kitchen countertop was bowed Instead of simply taking measurements, and fabricating countertops, he pointed out to me the bow in the wall That enabled me to require that my landscape company rebuild the wall prior to Cipriano measuring for countertops
Prior to delivery of the countertops, I asked my landscape company to double-check the dimensions of the cut-outs for the grill, cabinets, refrigerator, and cook top I was assured that the openings were correct Skeptical, I asked the landscape architect to come to my house He arrived just as the countertops were being delivered In short order he realized that the openings were incorrect While Granite & Marble Gallery would have been able to install the kitchen appliances, installation would have resulted in large gaps (up to 1-1/2") between the side of the appliance and the adjacent wall Having wasted the better part of a morning, Darius and Cipriano understood that the kitchen would have to be further modified and took our countertops back to the shop
A week and half later, our landscape company advise Granite & Marble Gallery that the outdoor kitchen was ready for countertops When Cipriano put the countertops loosely in place, he discovered that the brick counters that form the base for the countertops hadn't been properly leveled Having despaired of ever having the brick counters built square and level, I asked Darius and Cipriano to do the best job they could do with an uneven base Cipriano used shims to level the tops, and quick set to fill the gaps created by the shims While the gaps of up to 1.0" are unsightly, they are the fault of the landscape company, and Cipriano did the best job possible hiding the masons' mistakes
