Review: We inquired about a complete kitchen package to include laminated granite counter-tops with designed
corners, edge, no seam, two custom granite cutting boards w/ edge and designed radius on the island;
and tile back-splash for our kitchen all to our specifications. [redacted] from Rome Granite & marble assured
us he could provide all of the items requested, so we provided the deposit of $3000 on August 27th,
2013. The following week, we went to a NJ granite supplier to choose the granite slab for the job, per
Rome Granite's request. After numerous calls to Rome Granite and trying to coordinate the start of the
kitchen project on September 17th, workers from Rome Granite came to the house to take
measurements of the kitchen for the job. The following weekend [redacted] came to the house to take more
measurements and make a template for the kitchen counter-tops. On that day, he told us that the
designed corners were going to require an added 6" over the current measurements, leading to an
added $400 to the job. We agreed to continue with the job, provided that all the terms of the
agreement are fulfilled. After calling numerous times and visiting Rome Granite to find out when the job
would start, we got no definite answers. On September 18th, we ere told that the job would start the
following Thursday. When they came install the granite the first time, they broke the slab because they
did not have enough people to carry it. The granite would now require a seam, even though our
agreement was for a seamless counter-top. After weeks later ,The second time they came to install the
granite the counter top had an extreme overhang which extended past the wall, which was not in our
agreement. They took it back and weeks later returned with it shortened and the edge altered. After
stall of the counter-top and island counter-top, it was evident that the extra 6" that Rome granite said was
required to have the designed corners, was actually not required and has made the overall dimensions
of the tops much larger than originally agreed upon. After installation, payment of $2000 was made by
check, and the balance would be paid upon completion of the back-splash and delivery of the custom
cutting boards, which the dimensions of the boards were discussed on this day. The back-splash was
installed and came out great! When inquiring about the cutting boards, they told us that we can only get
one cutting board without any edge, because the cutting board would not fit in their granite edge
machine, and that the new dimensions would be 12x12, when the original dimensions were 14" round
and 18"x15" rectangle with ogee edge. We have yet to receive our cutting boards and will not
comprimose this agreement.
items not fulfilled from original agreement:
Radius on counters, no seam on counter, cutting boards (one with edge)and original dimensions,
unnecessary overhangDesired Settlement: Since the only part of the job that can be fixed at this point is the cutting boards, We would like them to
provide the 2 cutting boards (one w/ edge) to our original specifications and remove the $400 that was
added to the price of the job and was no required to have the corners, and an apology for taking as long
as they did to complete the job (deposit on Aug. 27th and granite install on Oct. 14) and not keeping us
updated on when it would start or be completed.
Review: During the installation of my granite countertop my stove was damaged. I was told that I would get a new part to fix the damage on my stove. I was told the part was ordered and on its way. Numerous phone calls and emails have resulted in no response other than the part hasn't arrived. It has been two months and still no part.Desired Settlement: I would like to recieve the replacement part that I was promised and have it installed by an an GE appliance repairman.
