***, Whenever we get a contract with the legal portion crossed out, it’s commonly a red flag and have been directed by our corporate office to void the contract altogetherThe legal portion of a contact is our only safety net and is standard in the state of California for a licensed contractor Generally there is a reason why someone would be so inclined to push back on a standard contractSecondly as a franchise, we are bound by contract to fabricate and install the materials manufactured and supplied by our corporate officeA few months ago we decided to take a job where part of the legal was crossed out; we are currently in the preliminary stages of collections and soon headed to small claims courtUnfortunately, one bad apple has required us to align ourselves back to the corporate office proceduresI'm hopeful that you were not mis-lead in any way by ***; I'm certain that was not his intentJust as you have the freedom to contract with a company, we also have that same freedom to contract with a consumerIt’s not personal, it’s businessYour original deposit check along with an explanation very much like this was mailed out to you on Saturday Dec 16thThanks for considering Granite Transformations and all the best on your renovation projectRespectfully, T [redacted] Owner Granite Transformations Ventura, Inc

Complaint: I am rejecting this response because: The Sales person (***) was the person who crossed out the verbiage on the contract (NOT ME) and asked me to initial it next to his nameI expressed my concern about that but was willing to go ahead with the contracthe said "Whatever we have to do to make you happy as I agree with you that this part of the contract wouldn't hold up in court anyways in CA)I then told him It doesn't really matter as I would never have someone do work and not pay as that is against my values and unfair to the businessI am not that kind of personhe then contacted me a few days later telling me that the contract that he had crossed that verbiage out on was rejected and that I would need to sign another one to proceedWe met, and I signed the 2nd contractIn addition, [redacted] told me that I could use my own tile back-splash to save me moneyI asked him to match up a picture I had from Lowe's so it would be close and he said "I am here to save you money so it would be cheaper to buy it yourself and have us install it)I didn't ask him that, but rather asked him, if you had something similarSo let's recap, [redacted] crossed out the verbiage in the contract, not me [redacted] also, told me to use my own back splash tile to save me money but I am the one being accused of as being a non-paying crookAll 5,of my Facebook friends will know about this experience as will anyone I can think of as this is NOT right !!!! I am rejecting this response because: The Sales person ([redacted]) was the person who crossed out the verbiage on the contract (NOT ME) and asked me to initial it next to his name. I expressed my concern about that but was willing to go ahead with the contract. he said "Whatever we have to do to make you happy as I agree with you that this part of the contract wouldn't hold up in court anyways in CA). I then told him It doesn't really matter as I would never have someone do work and not pay as that is against my values and unfair to the business. I am not that kind of person. he then contacted me a few days later telling me that the contract that he had crossed that verbiage out on was rejected and that I would need to sign another one to proceed. We met, and I signed the 2nd contract. In addition, [redacted] told me that I could use my own tile back-splash to save me money. I asked him to match up a picture I had from Lowe's so it would be close and he said "I am here to save you money so it would be cheaper to buy it yourself and have us install it). I didn't ask him that, but rather asked him, if you had something similar. So let's recap, [redacted] crossed out the verbiage in the contract, not me. [redacted] also, told me to use my own back splash tile to save me money but I am the one being accused of as being a non-paying crook. All 5,000 of my Facebook friends will know about this experience as will anyone I can think of as this is NOT right !!!!

[redacted], Whenever we get a contract with the legal portion crossed out, it’s commonly a red flag and have been directed by our corporate office to void the contract altogether. The legal portion of a contact is our only safety net and is standard in the state of California for a licensed contractor....

Generally there is a reason why someone would be so inclined to push back on a standard contract. Secondly as a franchise, we are bound by contract to fabricate and install the materials manufactured and supplied by our corporate office. A few months ago we decided to take a job where part of the legal was crossed out; we are currently in the preliminary stages of collections and soon headed to small claims court. Unfortunately, one bad apple has required us to align ourselves back to the corporate office procedures. I'm hopeful that you were not mis-lead in any way by [redacted]; I'm certain that was not his intent. Just as you have the freedom to contract with a company, we also have that same freedom to contract with a consumer. It’s not personal, it’s business. Your original deposit check along with an explanation very much like this was mailed out to you on Saturday Dec 16th. Thanks for considering Granite Transformations and all the best on your renovation project. Respectfully, T[redacted] Owner Granite Transformations Ventura, Inc.
