Thank you for allowing us to help you with your flooded house. It saddens me that we were not able to part ways on good terms. Whenever a friend asks me to help a friend I always try my best. I know we were not able to complete the job before we decided to part ways and that is why I did not charge the remaining $5,000.00 when we were so close to finishing. I wish you would have mentioned that you were unhappy with the paneling, cabinets, and carpet while we were still working on the house. As you stated we were there for a month. Its not like we installed everything on the last day we were there. I wish I could do more for you but with me or my guys being unable to work in those conditions the best I could do was leave more than $5,000.00 for you. I have been upfront and honest with you this entire job. I have tried to be as fair as possible. I feel bad that your house was flooded and that you are also unable to work right now. I wish you would have paid taxes on your business in the past so that way you could have received some insurance money to help you while you are not able to work. If there is anything I can do to help let me know. I will keep you and your family in my prayers. God Bless

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because: Mr. [redacted] refuses to address the issues at hand and although this time he has added nice words, I will be adding libel to the list of complaints.  I guess next, he will be claiming I club baby seals while still refusing to address the contract and the issues.  For the record, I pay my taxes every year as my accountant can attest to - which is frankly none of his business and exactly how he operates.  I am not sure where this EXTRA $5,000 comes in that he is talking about.  If he can produce anything around that  in which I approved of, I would love to see it.  The remaining was $1,200 if he would have actually showed up to finish the job.  This man is dishonest to the core. I wanted to fire him after the first day.  I told him not to come back.  He begged me through text and tried calling me repeatedly.  When I did not answer, he called our mutual friend and told her that the company he works for are known to be horribly aggressive with people who stop in the middle of a job and would sue me with high-powered lawyers and make my life miserable.  Being a single mother in the middle of a natural disaster and with a closed business, that was enough for me to try to make it work and I gave them a second chance. Come to find out, he doesn't even work for a company, but instead himself.  He also threatened to put a lien on my home when I fired him.  I am homestead exempt.  Shouldn't he have known better than to threaten such a thing?  I have multiple emails and texts telling him throughout the job how unhappy I was with the work they were doing and the fact that they were not showing up.  I learned that I needed to put everything in writing with this guy because he lies so much.  The timeline is as follows - on April 30, Mr. [redacted] sent a text asking if they could start putting up sheetrock on Monday (May 2) _ I replied that it was ok and informed him the floor guy would be working in ONE ROOM - Mr [redacted] replied, "We should be ok. We can demo in the garage and kitchen and install sheetrock" "Demo will be less than a day and we will install sheetrock where we can to stay ouit of the way of the floor guy.  Then we can do the rest.  It will take us a solid week to do it" - I replied, "OPk.  Including the bathroom redesign?" - He replied, "No, that will be another couple of days depending on if we have to pour another new shower pan."On May 2, 2 men whom I never met showed up and started doing demolition in EVERY room of my house. Then they started putting sheetrock immediately back up. I noticed that they did not do what the contract said (treat all open walls with bleach solution), so I called Mr. [redacted] who sent someone named Javier about 2 hours later over with a sprayer and bleach. The paneling was taken off of my walls which left a large gap in the ceiling.  That afternoon I had about 100 bees in my living room.  My teenage daughter and I spent the night away.May 3, At 10:25 no one was at my home, so I texted Mr. [redacted] to ask when anyone was coming. He did not reply or answer his phone.  At 5:45, I told him I would no longer need his services and asked that they come and pick up their materials.  he asked what happened (because he never bothered to show up on the first day and NO ONE showed up on the second, I told him that his guys took about 10 breaks, including a 3 hour lunch, did not respect the remaining property that I did have, did not seem to respond to me or understand me, got an even bigger attitude with me because I mentioned the bleach and they had to take down the sheetrock that they put up, and did not do the garage or kitchen (as I was told), but instead made EVERY room unlivable for me and my daughter.  - He sent me a picture of his truck in which he got into an accident as an excuse.  He sent 3 texts and called me twice at 5:456 and 6:18 pm.  He had our friend call me at 6:35May 4th - He came in the morning and we spoke about redoing the contract and moving forward.  He said there would be a supervisor at my house at all times and that someone would be there EVERY DAY. Two  men showed up and worked all day.May 6th - I sent a text to Mr. [redacted] reminding him that I needed the updated contract.May 6 - Mr [redacted] sent me a picture text and under it read, - wainscoting paneling?  Were you going to paint it? (The picture is the cheap, cheap paneling that was not even close to matching the wainscoting I had before, but I could not tell from the picture - and he said he would replace it with the same or similar as well as the contract saying, "New material will match existing material as close as possible."  That evening at 6:19, he texted - "We will be there tomorrow if that is ok??  We can do the baseboard and the carpet."May 7 - I got this text from Mr. [redacted] - "Well it looks like we're going to put the carpet in Monday Morning I thought they could get there this weekend but doesn't look like it's going to happen.Monday, May 9 - No one showed upTuesday, May 10, 8am text from Mr. [redacted] - I was able t schedule the carpet to be installed tomorrow at 10 am and have guys there to do sheetrock as well" My reply at 8:01 - So no one is coming again today?!  You told me there would be a crew of 4 here today."  His reply via text - "I understand but I couldn't make it happen and I didn't want to different guys there without supervision" (There had barely been any supervision at all up to this point anyway.  Mr [redacted] would show up for 30 minutes, say he was going to Home Depot, and then be gone for the rest of the day) My reply - "I don't understand what the hole up is"  Ten minutes later he replies - "It can be hard to coordinate some times and just don't want to send people that haven't been to that job without me being there.May 11 - Said they would be here at 8 am - No one showed up as if 9:54.  I texted, "When will you guys be here?"  At 9:57 Mr [redacted] texted, "Went by there almost back." He did not show up.  At 4:35, I texted, "Are you coming back?!" 10 minutes later he was back. That night he texted they would be at my house at 9:30.May 13, 8:44am I texted, "Good morning, anyone coming today?" At 8;54 he texted, "They are on their way. Picking up material." By 10:00 they still were not at my house (I have a Home Depot 6 minutes from me)May 14th - No one showed.May 15 - 1:31 pm I texted - Hey [redacted], Just checking in about this week.  I'm feeling frustrated.  You asked me to give you a second chance and I really don't want to regret it, but having 1-2 guys here just a few days is not really cutting it.  I really want the bathroom completed before the (second) floor guy gets here to do his thing on Thursday.  His reply - "I'm going to do my best" May 18 - His guys showed up after 11 am and the "supervisor" left  for hours leaving the other guys just standing around doing nothing.  At 12:23 I texted - "Hey [redacted], Your guys didn't get here until after 11 and _____ has been gone for quite a while."  His response - He's at Home Depot getting a different cainet.  I just paid for it so he will be back soon."  He arrived 2 hours later. On May 21, I sent hi this EXACT email - Hey [redacted],Sending this email because a text would be too long.  I noticed in this contract, it said that you would use plywood for the sink boards.  That is going to look cheep.  I will pick up the wood that goes over the frame. Also, those kitchen cabinets will have to be redone at your cost.  One inch is not going to cut it.  I could barely get into my freezer last night.  The doors are crooked and the formica edge is all messed up.   Also, in the contract, it said oak cabinets and only the doors are oak. Telling me to get a smaller dishwasher, when this one is brand new, is not an option.  Your guys had both the dishwasher and refrigerator right there and apparently did not make the correct measurements. I will not be stuck living with shotty work. Also, when I told you we were way past the "11 days at most"  on your contract, you used the back room as an excuse as to why it was taking so long.  Week before last, you had one or 2 guys come each day and sometimes they only came for a few hours.  On Monday and Tuesday, no one came at ALL!  You also used the excuse that you have other jobs going on.  So would any other contractor that I hired.  I didn't hear those kind of excuses when you came over to bid for the job.Additionally, I got home to an 82 degree house yesterday.  I paid $125 for an a/c person to come out and check the a/c only for him to tell me that the a/c breaker had been switched off - not the half- way trip, but turned off and the breaker box was left wide open.  Your guys used my BEST kitchen cutting knife for putty, broke my toilet seat and picture frame, used my BUSINESS towels to do who knows what with (they are ruined!) and used my mops and ruined those as well.I'm beyond pissed at this point and I want my house finished THIS WEEK.  I really don't care about excuses.  I hired you for a job and it should have been completed 2 weeks ago.  You said at one point that you were "doing me a favor".  I am paying just like any other customer.  And you were NOT the cheapest bid, so no, I don't consider any of this a favor and am horribly disappointed in the unprofessional way all of this has been handled. His reply via email - We will get everything finished up this week! See you Monday. I talk to you everyday. If something is not going the way you want please tell me at that time. I have been by your house everyday I have guys there and would be more than happy to make sure you a happy. The 11 days is an estimate and not a promise. The promise is that we will finish your house and not leave you high and dry like your other contractor.Tuesday, May 24 - Mr [redacted] texted - "Should be there around 9-9:30 today." One guy showed up.  At 11:29 am I texted, "Is anyone else coming out today?" His reply - The plumber is coming at 11. I finished the baseboard in the backroom yesterday afternoon (he didn't).  I will be there after the plumber gets there today." My reply at 8:13 am - "Ok.  After as in 12 or after as in 4?  He replied - "Not sure yet but will be earlier than later."  By 11:41 no plumber had arrived.  My text at that time - "Plumber?"  Mr. [redacted]'s reply - 24 minutes out.At this point, Mr. [redacted] finally showed up and told me he was going to charge me even more money and said I had to pay the plumber out of my own pocket.  The shower that I had used up until the morning they did demolition on it, was now somehow blocked.  He swore that his people blocked the drain and that it was not his fault.  Both the plumber and I looked in the drain and it was not plugged.  It never had been.  I took pictures during the whole process.  We got into a disagreement and I fired him.  I gave him a check for $4,000 because from what I could SEE, work had been done. It wasn't until the other THREE contractors came out that I realized all of the mistakes that had been made and that they would need t be redone.  My shower would have leaked within 1-2 months flooding my house again and they had covered up the leak behind my sink instead of fixing it.  Now that the work is complete (they showed up EVERY day as did a co-owner) and I am doing clean-up, I am finding even more things that they messed-up and then hid.  One of the biggest ones is that when they put my cook top back in, they had to redo the wiring.  It kept shorting out and sparking in the kitchen when they were working on it.  When the guys came back with the parts 4 hours later, they "replaced" it.  I am attaching a picture of what I found when I was cleaning and restocking my cabinet today.EVERYTHING in this timeline I have proof of as I kept all the texts and emails. After I paid the $4,000 he emailed me this "change order"? Demo and replace sheetrock behind kitchen cabinets, refrigerator, and around pantry.? Replace damaged iron pipe in shower stem? Install outlet for range top? Install new shower pan and drain? Paint Living room wall? 3 gallons of Super Paint? Install GFCI outlet in KitchenWe propose hereby to furnish materials and labor – complete in accordance with above specifications, for the sum of:ONE THOUSAND ONE HUNDRED SEVENTY FIVE DOLLARS …................................................... $1,175.00 He knew this was a flooded house - why try to charge me for sheetrock that had to be replaced on the whole first floor when he already had it in the estimate? The shower pan and drain had to be totally redone (didn't he say in a previous comment here that they only did demo on the shower (proof of yet another lie)Paint living room wall was a change I requested, but adding in paint in addition?  he did not do that on his first contractGFCI in kitchen - I did not request that my outlet be moved.  HIS GUYS, who were unsupervised, broke my other outlet then tried to cut the outlet plate in half and shove it back in to the existing spot.  When I brought that to Mr. [redacted]'s attention, he ASKED if they could move it over tho the other side. This is the original contract by the way:Demo 2’ high around the perimeter of the garage? Treat all open walls with bleach solution? Install new R-13 Insulation as needed? Install sheetrock as needed throughout 1 st floor of the residence including the garage? Tape, Float, and texture newly installed sheetrock? Install new base board as needed throughout 1 st floor? Install new door casing and window sills as needed throughout 1 st floor? Install x3 hollow core doors? Install new MDF overlapping wainscoat in bedroom to match existing as close as possible? Demo base cabinets and countertops in kitchen.? Install new paint grade unfinished oak cabinets in kitchen? Install new formica countertops with back splash and waterfall edges? Install new carpet on stairs to include common area landing. Will not match other floor cover? Paint office, closets, bathroom, and entry hall leading to office? Demo shower and fur down if possible.? Install new tile surround and shower head materials to be provided by owner? Install new vanity sink provided by owner? Install vanity top framed out of 2x4 with stained plywood? Bid does not include any hidden unforeseen damages? New material will match existing as close as possible? Contractor will clean up and haul away all job related debris daily? Project is estimated to take up to 11 working days to complete. So as for this, 95% of the household sheetrock had already been removed before Mr. [redacted] got there. What was done in the house according to the contract was as follows:Demo 2’ high around the perimeter of the garage? Treat all open walls with bleach solution? Install new R-13 Insulation as needed? Install sheetrock as needed throughout 1 st floor of the residence including the garage? Tape, Float, and texture newly installed sheetrock? Install new base board as needed throughout 1 st floorDemo base cabinets and countertops in kitchen.Install new formica countertops with back splash and waterfall edges - ONLY HALF OF THAT WAS DONEPaint office, closets, bathroom, and entry hall leading to office? Demo shower and fur down if possible.THE FOLLOWING WAS NOT DONE OR HAD TO BE REDONE:Install new door casing and window sills as needed throughout 1 st floor? Install x3 hollow core doors? Install new MDF overlapping wainscoat in bedroom to match existing as close as possibleInstall new paint grade unfinished oak cabinets in kitchen? Install new formica countertops with back splash and waterfall edges? Install new carpet on stairs to include common area landing. Will not match other floor coverInstall new tile surround and shower head materials to be provided by owner? Install new vanity sink provided by owner? Install vanity top framed out of 2x4 with stained plywood (WHO DOES STAINED PLYWOOD COUNTER TOPS IN A BUSINESS AREA?!)
Regards,
[redacted]

The time frame was an estimate. At the start of the job I did not want to start until the epoxy that was going to be installed on the concrete floor was complete. The customer asked me to start and work in some other areas before it was complete and I agreed. The floor was not complete...

until a month after the start date. The customer approved the paneling in the bedroom before it was installed. It appears in the picture that was provided that it could use another finish nail in that area. We were in the room many times and it was never an issue so I am not sure about the validity of the claim. The carpet was a lower grade carpet but there is new pad and carpet. The customer loved the carpet and how soft it was for the time after it was installed. The shower was not complete and the customer was only charged for the demo which was a change order in the middle of the work. The cabinets were purchased from Home Depot and there is nothing cheap about them. They were not pre stained because the customer wanted to paint them a certain way. Just because a cabinet is paint grade does not mean its cheap. I agreed to leave the house because the customer was not happy and I was concerned for my health and my guys health. There were many neighborhood cats some with mange that were allowed to come and go freely in the house. The carpet was completely saturated in cat urine. The wet cat food was left out all over the house and while we were there for a month I never saw any of it cleaned up. The entire house wreaked of cat urine. When the customer began to have complaints like " you let the cats out" "you let a raccoon in the garage" and "you let bees in the house" I knew it was time to leave. The cats come and go because there is a cat door so that is absurd. The garage is always left cracked open so that the cats can come and go so the raccoon thing is crazy. The bees in the house are there because there is an enormous bee hive that lives in the wall of the house that the customer is fully aware of. The new complaint is now that the paneling is cheap. Yes it is cheap and yes the customer picked it out. I have emails, pictures, and text messages to confirm. I figure that the customer still owes me money for work done the customer told me that they would only pay an amount less than that and I took the loss and left.
