Under Internal Revenue Code section 7216, we cannot even acknowledge to third parties that someone is even a client without authorization from the supposed client. We adhere to that legal requirement as a matter of policy and practice. It is our practice to advise clients of future tax
obligations when they are identified and offer tax planning services appropriate to their situation. Further, when clients have a balance due, the circumstances of that obligation are explained including what an extension extends (time to file, not time to pay) and that penalties and interest will be due on payments after April 15th even if extension of filing date has been requested. We handle over returns during tax season, with a significant number of them in the first two weeks of April and most of those having balances due.
