In reference to the new complaint from ***; there was no need to mention that Kyllinga Grass existed on his property because it is a grass species and was clear to see just as if I were to mention to him that he has Rye Grass, Kentucky Blue Grass, and Tall Fescue*** has a very large population of Geese living in his neighborhood which contribute greatly to the spread of KyllingaKyllinga Grass in was growing throughout 50% of the backyard (primarily the left side)so I was already pretty sure he knew he had this on his property and once again there was no reason to treat it because it provided his lawn with a lush, green coverageIf *** thought it was a weed then I am not sure why he is bringing it to my attention now 3yrs later when he had so much of it growing even back thenI did treat for weeds on the property such as clover, dandelions, chickweed, purslane etcand once these weeds died they did turn brown that's correctI have nothing more to say on this matter except I always did my job to the best of my abilityIf *** did not like the look of his lawn he should have made this known a long time ago*** did recommend me to his neighbor and I know this because his neighbor told me so and also told me what a great job we were doingAlso, if *** wants to say I "illegally dumped" then so be itAll I simply did was did was recycle grass clippings in the wrong part of the woodsIt is an absolute joke to say I cost him and his neighbors moneyIn fact when you recycle grass clippings as I, Don Grasso did do in the woods it actually means there's no need to spend tax dollars on landfilling grassThe cost of trucking grass clippings to landfill sites comes out of residents' taxesThis is a wasteful practice: all those nutrient-rich clippings could be fertilizing people's lawns, thereby saving money on fertilizers and water billsAnd tax dollars could be spent on services and programs rather than on the labor, trucks, fuel and precious landfill space used in grass disposalIf you ask me this sounds like a great practice and should be done more often under the right circumstancesSincerely, *** ***

Response:
Let me just say I am extremely shocked to have received this letter from *** *** in reference to my businessI have been *** ***’s sole lawn care provider from the year until present and within that time *** has given me numerous referrals, I also do his next door
neighbors and his son’s property as well; pertaining to all aspects of lawn maintenanceActually the last referral he gave me was this year during the month of June and it required lawn cutting of his neighbor’s property directly next to hisMy employees and I take tremendous pride in all that we do and that is why 95% of my business comes from word of mouth advertisingMy customers know they can call me with any problem they may have and I will address itWhen I first stepped foot on *** ***’s lawn back in 2011, I made a mental note that he had Kyllinga grass because as with every type of grass there is a proper way to care for / supply nutrients for that plant to ensure it grows to its full potentialNow it is and I am just hearing about the Kyllinga Grass being a permanent problem/concern for ***The first time *** made mention of this grass was last OctoberThis October about the same time as last year when *** brought up the Kyllinga grass; *** states that he saw me spraying for weeds, which is correct; weeds such as Crabgrass, Dandelions, and CloverIn all my years I have been in business I have never sprayed Kyllinga grass and I am not sure why *** states that there is a correlation between spraying weeds and the Kyllinga grass turning brownFew of my customers have Kyllinga grass and the ones that do have it I make sure to tell them it dies off when temperatures cool down and comes back in the spring just as *** *** stated was the remark I made to him the previous year around the same timeZoysia Grass and Bermuda Grass also do the same thing and could also be considered weeds as *** states is the case with the Kyllinga GrassIf *** does not like the way this grass looks or that is goes dormant early and turns brown in the fall he could have easily approached me and asked for a solution to the Kyllinga GrassGrasso’s Landscape Service, LLC cannot be held responsible for *** ***’s change of heart in the lawn he hasSincerely *** ***/Owner Grasso’s Landscape Service

Complaint: ***
I am rejecting this response because: If we had kyllinga back in 2011, why was it never mentioned to us, and more importantly, why was it not treated The first time we ever heard of this as being a problem was October when I complained about how bad the yard looked *** had sprayed a few days prior and when the lawn turned brown, I called him and he stated it was nutsedge and not to worry, because the grass would be green again in the spring I took that to mean that he would do whatever was necessary to get rid of the weed since he was our total lawn care provider At that time, the bad area was only about 10'x10' and it did not seem to be that big a deal if treated properly in the spring Well, now I find out that Grasso did absolutely nothing to rid us of this weed as he admits in his email to me And please, do not compare this to zoysia or bermuda grass because they are in fact a grass, where kyllinga is a weed and should have been disposed of properly in the spring Unfortunately, now, our entire back lawn has gone brown because nothing was done to control the problem when it first developed Since terminating our business relationship with Grasso, I have learned there are several treatments for kyllinga and if treated timely and properly it can be eliminated, however, if left untreated, it spreads like wildfire in the spring as was the case in our situationNow, unfortunately, we are looking at the possibility of removing our entire back yard lawn and a minimum of 2" of dirt and replacing the same amount with topsoil and turf As far as recommending him, that is not true My neighbor knew that we used Grasso and went with the company on their own I recently mentioned to that neighbor that had they asked me, I would have told them of several issues we have personally had with Grasso in the past not to mention that Grasso Landscaping was recently cited in our township for illegal dumping Illegal dumping cost me money, my neighbors money and it is wrong!
