John Amen, owner of Great Valley Landscaping and Pool is nothing but a liar and a thief.
John Amen, owner of Great Valley Landscaping and Pool is nothing but a liar and a thief. We found multiple customers in our area who faced the same issues as us with this business. We hired him for a project in January 2023 and problems started on day one. Our Township fined him for not following the proper building permit requirement. He was then consistently late to meet all deadlines he originally promised, justifying each delay with more lies and unrealistic excuses. His own supplier (concrete company) came to our house requesting payments for material that John Amen failed to pay to them. After constant disappointments and lies, we decided to confront John Amen about his unprofessional behavior, and during this conversation, he started to physically cry and promised on his “children’s life” (very disturbing commitment) that he was going to finish the project the following week. He left and never came back. Not being able to reach out to him by phone or email for several weeks, we decided to engage in legal action requesting payment for all the missing machinery and the cost to finish our project. John Amen shortly after paid us the full amount requested. Never hire John Amen and Great Valley Landscaping and Pool, and if unfortunately, you did, your only way out is to hire a lawyer to recover what is due to you. Feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions.

We hired John A to come and redo a walkway and put in a patio We paid the first deposit and he came and did some of the work Then he came and asked for the second payment and said the remaining work would be done when the weather was warm and dry In the spring he started giving us reasons why they couldn't come that week Then he would say they were coming and not show up Now he won't answer our phone calls, return text or email us back The job is only partially complete

We contracted with this company we paid for 2/of the project and the project is about 1/complete We were told they would return when the weather got warmer When spring came we were given numerous reasons for weeks as to whey they couldn't come Now the companies owner refuses to answer calls, return messages, text, emails

Hired John Amen GVL&P in March 2018, was quick to take our deposit and start the workafter days of work didn't come back or call for weeks -claimed weather and injury - re-started job took the funds to finish the work-stopped working againAfter weeks of calls and texts and finally threats to get a lawyer he had more of the work done, some subcontractedFailed to finish the job and the subcontractor who did not get paid showed up at my house looking for payment! He did extensive damage to my current patio - the pool restoration and decking were done with inferior products that I paid up charges for to have a superior decking and pool finishingThe concrete is cracking and they painted it with lowes paint! My pool light doesn't work and he failed to deliver a $pool cover that is paid in full - this man is a con - bait and switch, beware, consumer fraud

The complaint from Joe [redacted] has been fully satisfied. Mr. [redacted] is satisfied and has paid the balance of the contract in full. The job looks great.

Review: My husband and I have entered into contract with [redacted], President of Great Valley Landscaping and Great Valley Land and Pool, to build a therapy pool for our disabled son and an adjoining recreational/lap pool for the rest of our family. Our son suffers from a rare autoimmune disease and he needs to stay cold to avoid painful flare ups. His doctor said that swimming in cool water is the best exercise/therapy for him. [redacted] can be reached at ###-###-#### or ###-###-####, [redacted], Pa [redacted] or [redacted], Pa [redacted]. [redacted] has over $100,000.00 of our money and we have a a hole in in our yard with a 2 partially finished pools. [redacted] started our pools in March and said they would be completed by late April or the 2nd or 3rd week if May at the very latest. [redacted] has promised verbally and in writing numerous times to meet with me to go over details of the project. He has shown up for 4 meetings with me since March 9 and has not shown up for 6 scheduled meetings. He promised 3 times to do pool plumbing but the plumbing, which is paid for, is still not done. Often, after missing a meeting or a scheduled work day, [redacted] cannot be reached for days. Because [redacted] has been unavailable for meetings I have had to communicate with him via texting, email and voice mail. I have transcripts of emails and text messages where I have requested meetings and told him of my decisions and choice, often with no response from **. [redacted]. We have no signed change orders in our contract because [redacted] is not available for meetings. [redacted] has not provided me with accurate information so that I can make chooses regarding the project. For example, he sent me to a pool showroom that had moved. He would not return my calls or texts regarding this. I had to go to one of his competitors showroom to look at tile, coping and plaster options. Ten days later **. [redacted] provided me with the new address of the pool company showroom. On May 14, [redacted] was upset with me and screamed at me on the phone for being difficult and changing my mind. I no longer want to be in the same room with him. On May 14, [redacted] said in a text message that he would meet me the next day to talk about tile choices and placement. He did not show up on the 15th as promised. In another text message on May 15 he said he would be available all day the next day, May 16, to meet with me, but he did not show up. Finally on Monday May 19 [redacted] said he would stop at our home for a meeting. I had told him in a previous text message that I would be traveling that day but he must not have read it. I friend, Christine W, who is familiar with the project, met [redacted] at the door. She facilitated the meeting and I was conferenced in. I did not want to tell [redacted] about this arrangement because I thought that 1. based on his track record he would not show up anyway, and 2. This would give him an excuse not to meet. [redacted] seemed annoyed about the arrangement, saying that I was "partially there." But, at the meeting he made more promises to Christine and I. He said the pools would be finished by June 2. For the third time he promised to come and do the pool plumbing. He told us he would do it on Wed May 21 and that his crew would do prep work for the gas company, who were scheduled to run gas lines the next day, May 22. [redacted] promised to be present on May 22 to coordinate services with the gas co. [redacted] did not do the plumbing on May 21 and could not be reached by us or the representatives from the gas co. On May 22 the gas co came to run gas lines and had questions and could not reach [redacted]. They did "as much as they could do" but will need to come back when the plumbing and other work is completed. [redacted] will not return our calls, texts, or emails. We have not heard from him since May 19. Meanwhile, as the weather gets hotter and hotter, our disabled son, suffers from painful flare ups. [redacted] has damaged our yard, we are not sure we will hear from him again and he has our money. We would like to work things out with [redacted] and have him finish our pool. We have given him every opportunity to do so. We have not threatened him with any legal action and have left him voice mails pleading with him to contact us so we can work things out. I have transcripts of emails and text messages.Desired Settlement: I will meet with [redacted] to discuss continuation of the project if another person is present with me. [redacted] will finish the pools and all contractual agreements regarding the pools including warranties and start up. He will return dirt that was removed from our property and do the final grading of the property. He will provide a fence around our yard. We will get another company to do hard scape and landscape.
