We Have been roofing for a long time. This customer is not interested in resolving this, he is interested in brow beating us into submission based on incorrect information.
We have explained what we did and what the circumstances were in regards to this clients roof.
In all the roofs I have done, which exceeds 120 of them, we have never had a call back, warranty issue, or complaints what so ever with our work.
It seems to me that this customer is attempting to either slander our reputation or cause unnecessary grief.
We did everything we were supposed to do and then some.
We ask that this complaint be closed with prejudice and this issue put to bed by the Revdex.com.
Thank you

Complaint: [redacted]I am rejecting this response because:
There is no reason to accept the business response because nothing has changed. The flashing on my chimney was not done according to code and was a certain leak hazard. All the roof vents were installed wrong with unsealed, exposed nails. Cheap, plastic vents were used instead of metal as called for in the contract, two of them split when nails were driven through them and were left that way. I had to hire another roofer to fix all this. The contractor's responses keep questioning my motives, but none of that is relevant, these complaints are about construction mistakes, not about me, and I have a roofing report and photos that document all this.
Sincerely,[redacted]

Complaint: [redacted]I am rejecting this response because:
The contractor claims that I refused to pay for removal of an extra layer of roofing. What actually happened was that the contractor was aggressively adding costs above the contract price at higher rates than work in the original bid for the same kind of work (like the 4th layer on the garage), and crediting me at rates less than the original bid for work that didn’t need done. There was also a problem in that the original bid said “we split the sales tax through April 30,” which I thought meant if I sign by April 30 and the contractor said meant if the work was done by April 30. There was a meeting to which I brought two other people to help mediate, including a former employee of Greater Spokane Construction that I know. At the meeting, the contractor proposed a compromise on the added costs, I would pay for the added work that was quoted, including removal of the 4th layer, and he would accept my understanding of the sales tax and not charge me that. I accepted this and paid it, so in fact I did pay for the extra layer and it’s not true that “he refused to pay for it.” I’m sure both people at the meeting would confirm that this is what happened. But what does this have to do with the substance of the complaints I filed? The complaints were about construction errors, the extra payment made is not relevant to those issues.
The contractor also mentioned holes in the roof for two exhaust vents. All the vents on my house were installed wrong, the problem was much larger than the two exhaust vents.  The company who fixed the problems on my roof did not mention any problem with the size of the holes, I don’t think that point is relevant either. If you see the original complaints I filed, it was about the work done, there was nothing about the size of holes.
Nor do these complaints have anything to do with someone who “told him what he wanted to hear.” If you read my original complaints they were very specific about the problems discovered that I had to pay $1000 more to correct. It’s not helpful to do things like claim I’m trying to extort money.
I am sending some photos to show before and after:
6537: chimney flashing with no counter flashing and an attempt to attach to chimney with nails and caulk the gap. There were gaps left after the job was done so large I could put my finger in it.
6587: vent installed wrong, note how much of the metal is exposed including unsealed nails.
6640: flashing done by new company according to code with counter flashing cut into the chimney.
6641: a properly installed vent, note how the shingles are over top with no exposed nails.
I have many more photos but your site only seems to allow this many.
Sincerely,[redacted]

Response From Greater Spokane Construction:
We were contacted by Mr [redacted] to complete a roof replacement on both the house and the garage.
We completed both in a timely fashion and in a workmanlike manor.
While completing the garage, we found more layers of roofing, which constitutes extra work...

as no party could tell prior to the work that that extra layer existed. We billed the customer for the extra layer and he refused to pay for it.
We then moved onto the house and found that the customer had cut his own holes into the old roof for two exhaust vents. When he did so, he cut the holes much larger then in standard for a roof vent, then installed both vents and sealed both with excessive amounts of sealant because the holes in the sheathing we too big, thus making the vents sag and showing daylight.
Our contract did not include fixing the clients mistakes, only re roofing existing roof.
I personally installed both vents in the larger holes client cut and we installed per standard procedure.
The client called a roofing company to have them fix these issues because he was upset about paying and extra 700 or so dollars for the extra work on the garage, only after mediation with other third parties.

Mr [redacted] is trying to make his mistakes, our problem and attempting to punish us for billing extra money for legitimate extra work.
It is clear that the roofing supervisor who he met with told him what he wanted to hear because Mr [redacted] told him what Mr [redacted] wanted to hear. We have yet to have been provided with a certified inspection report from this or any other roofing company. We can hardly take Mr [redacted] word that all this exists and that an expert has independently confirmed any of the clients claims.
Until, and only until we can independently confirm his claims, this is an unsubstantiated attempt by Mr [redacted] to extort his money back for the extra work and then some with no basis in fact.

We did an excellent job, as we have done on 120 other roofs. Same procedure, same quality of work. Many happy customers.
Thank you
