tome
hi,this is our side story of the ID [redacted] complain.
We start the addition on October 30/13. The roof was up on jan 3/14. when we did we advise the owner of the condition of joining existing roof [valley see plans],but he only wants to minor repair it [roof caulk], so we did without cost to him. All winter with lots of rain we have no problem. On august 14 we receive a call that there was a leak and we tell them to call our roofer ,we also call our roofer and told him to see what the problem was. Notice here, that in they previous email, they did not wants at their place without approval form them. They never did, instead we receive on august 20  a threatening email that we not respond to them and they going to use some roofing co. Then we receive on October 9 /14 another threatening email with an a estimate from a roofing co and demand us to pay for the repair. we think that before they did any repairs we should inspect the problem. We work for 35 years without advertising from customers recommendations and we never had complains. References from our customers are the best.Anyway they can keep the cost from the money they still owe us[$28.000.00].For more we have all emails and photos from the performed work, if that helps.Greek art construction co.[redacted]Silver spring MD [redacted]License, insured, bonded.

 Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:
The reply that we received was both non-responsive and dishonest.  The issue at hand is improper installation of a new roof on a new addition that the contractor installed.  We contacted the contractor on August 12th to inform him that the roof he installed was leaking (not near any existing roof).  We were told to "find a roofer" not to contact their roofer.  Later on the 12th, we sent the following email:
[redacted]:
I
know that we are the last people you wanted to hear from and we certainly did
not want to be contacting you.  However, we need to know whether you will
be living up to our contract and warrantying your work for 1 year as
promised.  As you know, we have a leak in the new roof you installed over
the kitchen.  As Elena suggested, [redacted] is calling a roofer so we can
determine the extent of the problem and the cost of repair.  Despite our
disagreement at the end of the project, we hope that you will live up to your
word.  We of course are concerned about future problems that may arise
with work that you completed under our contract and whether you will be willing
to address these during the warranty period.  We have already had a
plumbing issue that we have fixed without contacting you, but if a larger issue
arises we want to know what we should expect.
[redacted]
When we did not receive a response to this email or to follow-up calls, we sent the following email on August 20th.
Mr.
B[redacted]:
Since
you have not responded to our earlier e-mail, we must assume that you are not
planning to live up to our contract and take responsibility for the repair of
our roof that you installed less than six months ago and that you warrantied
for one year.  We will have the work completed by a licensed roofer and
will forward the bill to you.  Should you refuse to pay the bill, we will
be forced to take legal action.  You can expect to receive correspondence
with the bill from our attorney at [redacted].  In addition, we will
be taking the following actions:  1) We will file a complaint with the
Revdex.com, 2) We will post a review of Greek Art on Angie’s List,
3) We will post a warning to our neighbors about Greek Art through the Chevy Chase
Listserve, and 4) We will send a personal letter to the many real estate agents
we know that operate in the DC area.  Despite the way the work on our
house was completed, we were prepared to end our relationship professionally
and amicably.  However, given your unwillingness to abide by our contract,
we feel obligated to inform our neighbors and potential clients of Greek Art of
your dishonest and unscrupulous business practices.  You should know that
[redacted] has been both a teacher and the president/member of all of the local PTA
boards and is a recognized and trusted voice in our community.
Please
direct any future communications to our attorney.
Sincerely,
[redacted]
and [redacted]
After still not receiving a response, we sent the following email on October 9th.
Mr. B[redacted]:
Attached is the invoice for the roof repair work that we had to pay
for due to the faulty and negligent installation of our roof that you
performed.  As per our contract, you warrantied the work for 1 year and
when we reported a problem you instructed us to hire a separate roofing
contractor.  We expect full and prompt payment of this invoice from you or
we will be forced to pursue legal action.

Washington, DC [redacted]
After not receiving a response to this email, we filed a complaint with the Revdex.com to avoid further legal action.  At no time since August 12th has the contractor replied to any communication from us, nor have they sent anyone to our house to inspect the damage caused by their faulty workmanship.
Regards,
[redacted]
