Complaint: 1***
I am rejecting this response because:
Clearly, this owner’s employees are lying to him about when
they are in the office and cheating him out of money like they did us. He clearly has never tried to find his
employees in the afternoons or he would know they don’t stick around for their
full business hours. The owner is falsifying
claims about my name change disclosure. Not
only did I tell salesman Sam I was getting married, I gave them the Exact Date
of the wedding, and the Exact Date I would be leaving town to travel to the
wedding, and when I would be back from the honeymoon. I did not file my name change with the DMV
until September 5th, exactly full month after the August 5th sale. During the sale, when I fully disclosed the
timing of the wedding, Sam said the “girl we pay to file this for us works for
the tag agency”, and picks up paperwork every Friday, so there should be no
problem getting it filed and probably back before the wedding. If they waited weeks before they even filed
the paperwork, then of course the name would have changed, just like I clearly
told them in advance. If I had not
called to complain about the temp tag expiring, they may have never filed for
the tag at all. Regarding the test
drive, it didn’t take place on HWY as the owner claimed. From the business on Hwy 17, we went block north on Hwy 17, turned left on Gieger
Rd, then left again on Rivers Rd, which looped us back around to Hwy just a
block or two south of the business, and we went north on Hwy that short stretch
right back to the shop. We were not on
Hwy long enough to get up to a 55mph speed, and the other roads have a speed
limit of 45mph. The alignment of the vehicle
wasn’t the problem, and we hit no curbs or anything else, thank God, or else
the whole truck probably would have fallen apart and killed us. The problem was the control arms and bushings
were completely worn out, per a certified mechanic, as well as the complete
break system, transmission and shocks For those reading who do not know mechanics,
the control arms and bushings are critical parts in the assembly that hold the
wheels to the axles. When they start
falling apart, the axle can snapOnce we hit 60mph on the interstate going
home, the truck pulled us all over the road.
It made driving so erratic, we were afraid we would crash into someone
or be pulled over for a DUI, because there was no way to keep it between the
lane lines no matter how tight you held the wheel. We had to crawl across the Buckman bridge at 45mph
just so we wouldn’t end up in the river We took it straight to a mechanic the next
day, and during his test drive, the ball joint broke, stranding him on the side
of the road. This car was not safe to
drive and should never have been sold in this condition. I did sign an waiver, with the
expectation, not that I had a perfect car that needed no work, but that I was
buying a car in BASIC WORKING CONDITION, which it was NOT There was not a single mechanical part of this
truck that was in even fair repair.
Simply put, it was UNFIT to be driven.
The terrible customer service I might have forgiven, but selling us a
vehicle that could have killed us is not.
Allowing these guys to stay in business may cause some other
unsuspecting buyer to be seriously injured.
I care less about a refund and more about protecting other consumers
from a similar situation. If they are
allowed to continue like this, someone could die in one of
their vehicles There needs to be some
investigation into their business practices and people need to be warned
Regards,

After receiving your letter about a complaint from one of our...

customers, I have read thru and reviewed everything. The customer [redacted] purchased a 2001 Chevy S-10, BEFORE PURCHASING VEHICLE [redacted] test drove the truck on HWY 17 (location of business) which has a high speed limit of 55 mph, falsifying her claim of low speed limits. During the paperwork process she did mention getting married BUT DID NOT TELL US IT WAS GOING TO BE WITHIN 2 WEEKS- thus when we turned her paperwork into the DMV they called us the next day saying there were issues, after calling around to figure everything out she finally told us she changed her name. As soon as this was discovered we had all paperwork resigned and fixed, then re-sent it to DMV causing us to have to issue a new temp tag. One very important piece to this puzzle is the AS IS FORM she signed stating that she the customer WILL PAY COST FOR ANY REPAIRS- THE DEALER ASSUMES NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANY REPAIRS REGARDLESS OF ANY ORAL STATEMENTS ABOUT THE VEHICLE. In her letter to the Revdex.com I also noticed she stated that we were difficult to get ahold of after 4:30? Definitely untrue, my salesman stays here a little after 5:00 pm everyday and I start closing at 5:45 sometimes 5:00 pm ONLY if we have a car auction to get to. She wants a refund? She signed paperwork saying she checked out the truck in and out and she was happy with the mechanical state it was in- if she hit a curb and knocked the alignment off a little after she drove off the lot and then drove it down the interstate until it rattled itself apart is her issue, we sold it in good working condition, what happens after she drives it off the lot is is an entirely different situation.
