I ordered a sunscreen for my kids. I received the product and it was expired. I called to see what could be done and the gentleman was very rude.I ordered Trukid Sunny Days sunscreen for my kids on 28 May 2014 for $15.99. Online order number was XXXXXXXX I have ordered from this company in the past and have had zero issues; therefore I wanted to continue to give them my business. I received the Trukid Sunny Days sunscreen on 02 Jun 2014. I was appreciative of the quick it was shipped to me. I opened the box and noticed upon inspection that the sunscreen had 05/14. I work in a field that is made aware of why companies put expiration dates on products and did not want to have to pay for a product that was already expired, no matter how close to the expiration date it was. I called the company probably between 3:30 and 4 PM central time on 02 Jun 2014 to see if we could resolved the problem. I got a business card with my order so I called the number on the card and asked to speak to [redacted] since it says she is the [redacted]. When I called, she answered the phone and I spoke to her. I notified her in a calm manner about the expired sunscreen. She was polite and apologized and said she didn't know what we could do about it. She asked if I could hold on. She transferred the phone to a gentleman who I believe said his name was [redacted], or maybe [redacted]. He seemed irritated. He acted like it was no big deal that the sunscreen was expired and that it was only expired by a few days. He seemed like he had full knowledge of it being expired before he shipped it to me because he knew that it had expired in 05/14 before I even told him. I said well yes but it's still expired nontheless. He followed that up with saying we can do one of two things. The first thing he said was he could send me another sunscreen but all he had in stock was sunscreen that had expired in 05/14. I repeated and I said the only thing you have in stock is stuff that is expired? He said well yes but it's not like it's a year old or anything, it's only expired by a couple days. I went on to say that I work in a field that understands why expiration dates are put on products. He rudely interrupted me and said that ok fine, we'll just issue you a refund then so you're getting it for free!!! I was in shock and was like, um, ok well I appreciate it but I wasn't trying to get anything for free. I wanted to resolve this issue so I wouldn't have an expired sunscreen. Before I could finish saying anything he said yup, bye and hung up on me. First off, I am confused as to why a business would knowingly (or so it seemed) send out sunscreen that had expired or why he would offer to send sunscreen to me again that was expired as a resolution to a problem. I am concerned that he will continue to send expired sunscreen out to other people who won't pay attention to such things or won't care. To me, this is a problem and a really bad business practice. If he knowingly had expired sunscreen then he should have sent me an email telling me of the situation. Instead, it was sent to me hoping that I wouldn't notice it was expired. If the expired sunscreen was unknowingly sent to me then his customer service was terrible. He acted like I was the one at fault and that I was being a nuisance. He should have apologized and done anything he could to make the situation right. Instead he offered to send me more expired sunscreen? Normally, I would let minor things go if they are handled correctly. I don't normally report things if I am treated well and the situation is resolved. I just felt like I was treated in a manner that was disrespectful. I can assure you that I won't ever do business with this company again. That's not how you treat customers after something that is not at the fault of the customer. I am extremely disappointed in how this was handled. I want to make sure I receive my money back for a product that was expired when I received it. Thanks for your help.Desired SettlementI want a refund of $15.99 for a product that was expired when I received it. All I wanted in the first place was an apology and a refund or a sunscreen that was not expired.Business Response Dear Ms. Price,We are a small, family run company and have not sold any of this sunscreen in several months. This item is no longer available on our website for sale, as it is expired. I intended to take it out of stock on the website last week but forgot. When we received Mr. [redacted]'s order, [redacted] decided to ship it because it was before the expiration date. We will donate the remaining sunscreen to Loaves and Fishes in Ayer, as we have with other items in the past. We have never before shipped anything close to an expiration date and have never had any customer complaints.Mr. [redacted] was mailed one tube of Trukid's Sunscreen that expired in May 2014, a mistake on our part. Upon being advised of this by the customer he was given a full refund, June 3nd.This item is no longer available on our website for sale. We apologize for the mistake.[redacted], LLCXXX-XXX-XXXX[redacted]@buygreengoods.com
