I'm glad I'm not the only one to have problems with the biggest crook and the slimiest person I have ever met in my life. All [redacted] does is lie to sell junk vehicles and then ignore concerns and phone call after the fact. The Audi I purchased from him that had all of the 100,000 mile service done to it has since needed a new ABS module (which he claimed was replaced), a new coil, new wheel bearings, electrical work, new brakes and rotors. In all over $2,700 repairs. Does this sound like a vehicle that was carefully looked over, and all 100,000 mile maintenance was done? Please, please, please don't give this CROOK any more business!!

My wife and I wanted to buy a subaru outback in decent condition to shuttle our children to and from school, and her to work. We found a 2003 subaru outback listed on craigslist for $6,500 in advertised "A+" condition. Having a small amount of prior knowledge, we were aware that subaru's around 115 K miles were in need of new head gaskets. We asked the owner of green light auto if this particular subaru had its head gaskets replaced, since it had 135 K miles on it. He assured us that the vehicle did indeed have new head gaskets and was in "perfect" running order, and had been fully looked over by his qualified mechanic.
We drove the vehicle, and decided to purchase it sight on scene. About two weeks later, we noticed an odor of gasoline coming from the heat vents. We brought the subaru to our mechanic, and he told us that the vehicle needed:
-New head gaskets (they were spitting coolant,)
-The engine was very low on oil, and there was a piston slap
-It needed a new short block
-New clutch
-Needed all clamps tightened at manifold
-A new front CV shaft
-New brakes and rotors
For a grand total of $5,400 dollars.
Realizing that this vehicle is 12 years old, some of these issues, I would call "non-emergent". However, I was quite upset about the head gaskets. I contacted the owner and he offered to look at the vehicle. I dropped the vehicle off at his shop. He called me back a few hours later and questioned the authority that my mechanic had on the issue and stated that the vehicle was in "perfect working condition."
I continued to question him on his reasoning and worked my way through the item assessment that I was given by my mechanic. After a few minutes of HEATED arguing, the owner agreed that there were indeed a few problems, and the head gasket issue was one of them. He offered to fix a few of these problems and in my opinion "band-aid them" for an additional $1,500.00 that we would have to pay for.
At this juncture in the conversation, I became irate and told him that he not only sold us a "lemon" for $6500, but he was a complete "crook" for offering another $1500 fix on a vehicle that we would have to pay for. He told me that he was legally required to do "nothing" about the issue, hung the phone up, and called the police on me.
He then called my wife, and she got him to agree to do a few repairs for $700.00 out of his pocket, and he did admit that there were some inherent problems with the subaru he sold us.
Completely distrustful of his business ethics, we are now having our mechanic fix the vehicle, and bring it to A+ condition. We will be out several thousand dollars on this unfortunate situation.
In the end, my wife and I are to blame in the situation. We did not fully investigate the vehicle, and took Green Light Auto's word that it was an "A+" vehicle. We should have brought it to a certified subaru mechanic, and waited for their diagnosis since Montana is a "buyer beware state."
Unfortunately, dishonestly won, and this business stole $6,500 from us. I STRONGLY caution everyone thinking about doing business with Green Light Auto to take a prospective vehicle for purchase to a certified mechanic and not trust this establishment. There is a good chance that the vehicle you purchase will be in serious disrepair.

Review: I bought a BMW from [redacted] in good faith that it was a reliable vehicle as he attested to! He couldn't get it out to me right away, as he just got it in from SLC. 2 weeks, and he calls, that it is ready to pick up. We went to pick it up. I couldnt dim the lights as there was no light bulbs. for dim. By now all the paper work has been signed so I can not get my money back. We go back a week later to get the car, get a block from the lot, and have to take it back. It will not stay running. After another 5 days, we take it home. I forgot to mention, the visor on the driver side is missing, door handle fell off! One trip to Sheridan WY, it won't run again. Many calls to [redacted], in which he frankly told me it wasnt his problem. I received a call from his wife telling me that they were getting parts to fix the vehicle, but by the way what was the name of the banker I used. After that conversation, no parts came, nor did [redacted] ever try to make things right. Even after he has told another customer that he was sending out a mechanic on Monday to work on this vehicle. I found out that he told my boyfriend about a piece of tape that was on the valve cover, covering a hole. If we bring it back, he would fiberglass it. While the vehicle was broke down in Whitehall, we got the fiberglass kit and patched the hole. Now it has the patch, a new fuel pump, new fuel filter and had to put bolts into the headlights that they left out! Gonna work right? Wrong, the patch didn't hold as the pressure was too great. Now we are stuck with getting a new valve cover, new gaskets, new bolt seals! Oh, yeah and it only has one key! Nothing wrong with this vehicle! As It is sad that Montana allows people like this to operate in our state! This isnt the only vehicle I have heard about coming from this man that was a bad deal. But is the only one I will ever buy! This is my fault, because I trust that people will sell honestly, and stand behind their good name. No, we should be able to trust that very thing in our stateDesired Settlement: I believe that the vehicle should have been taken back and my money returned. Now we have more money into it and mechanic time. I believe that he could repay us for the vehicle, parts, and labor at his mechanic wage for the time and effort that we have put into this as he took advantage of us not looking past his fast, smooth talking!!At the least, I do believe every person looking for information on this place should know that he will take advantage. I am not out to smear a good company! Thx.

Response:

Greetings

May I first start by saying all of our cars are carefully selected for quality and value and are selected from thousands of other vehicles as far away as California, Nevada and Utah. We road test and inspect every single one of our cars before they even hit the lot in some cases up to 800 miles while driving the back from out of state. Many of our cars are up to 10 years old and will have minor cosmetic flaws typical for the age that we always point out to our customers. We make sure on every car before we even consider purchasing them for inventory that all mayor mechanical components are functioning correctly (engine, drivetrain, mayor electrical, suspension and braking for we do not go hundreds of miles away to buy problematic vehicles). We have a great 3rd party company that will put up to a 5 year warranty on any one of our vehicles to cover most MAYOR components listed above in case of unseen catastrophic failure 1-56 months down the road and are never intended or implied to be a full coverage bumper to bumper warranty. In this case the customer who purchased this vehicle failed to mention that the outside temperature was ranging from 5 degrees to -27 below zero when the vehichle did not wish to start, the customer then proceeded to add a generic product called HEAT to the fuel, 2-4 bottles if I remember correctly (BMW does not recommend any fuel additive of any kind and state that such additives can cause potential Fuel System Damage).
